    Cold Dark Matter and Neutralinos

Neutralinos are natural candidates for cold dark matter in many realizations of supersymmetry. We briefly review our recent results in the evaluation of neutralino relic abundance and direct detection rates in a class of supergravity models.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, uses espcrc2.sty. Observations of annual modulation in direct detection of relic particles and light neutralinos

    Get PDF
The long-standing model-independent annual modulation effect measured by the DAMA Collaboration, which fulfills all the requirements of a dark matter annual modulation signature, and the new result by the CoGeNT experiment that shows a similar behavior are comparatively examined under the hypothesis of a dark matter candidate particle interacting with the detectors' nuclei by a coherent elastic process. The ensuing physical regions in the plane of the dark matter-particle mass versus the dark matter-particle nucleon cross-section are derived for various galactic halo models and by taking into account the impact of various experimental uncertainties. It is shown that the DAMA and the CoGeNT regions agree well between each other and are well fitted by a supersymmetric model with light neutralinos which satisfies all available experimental constraints, including the most recent results from CMS and ATLAS at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure

On the Neutralino as Dark Matter Candidate - II. Direct Detection

Evaluations of the event rates relevant to direct search for dark matter neutralino are presented for a wide range of neutralino masses and for various detector materials of preeminent interest. Differential and total rates are appropriately weighted over the local neutralino density expected on theoretical grounds.Comment: (18 pages plain TeX, 24 figures not included, available from the authors) DFTT-38/9

Analisis Framing Pemberitaan Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) Pada Pemilihan Gubernur DKI Jakarta 2017 Di Media Tempo.co Dan Detik.com

PDIP's decision to carry Ahok showed the long journey of Ahok in Jakarta Governor Election 2017. In reporting of Ahok's news is the result of framed construction by media's reporters in accordance with the ideology and policy of Tempo.co and Detik.com. This research was conducted to see how Tempo.co and Detik.co construct Ahok's news when carried by PDIP and how ideology in the news media. This research aims to determine the construction and the news media in reporting Ahok ideology when carried PDIP in online media Tempo.co and Detik.comThis research is using the qualitative method with data collecting technique are documentation, book study and interview. Subjects of this research are the journalists and the editorial of Detik.com and Tempo.co. Objects of this research are the news about Ahok in Jakarta's Governor Election 2017 from 20 September until 22 September 2016. Data is analyzed by using framing analysis with Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M.Kosicki's model. The results of this research indicate that: (1) Detik.com news frame by taking the viewpoint of one of the parties who supporting Ahok, which is PDIP. (2) Tempo.co framing news from the perspective of responses and attitudes in decision of PDIP. (3) The News of Detik.com favoring the PDIP, while Tempo.co news is not balanced because it only uses one interviewees only and there is no element of cover both sid

Technological advances that teaches people to obtain information quickly, cheaply and efficiently and also supported by holding of the Press Oublishing Business License (SIUPP), making the height popping new news portal. So that the number of photos uploaded increasingly uncontrollable and disturbing the public. However, on the other hand, the press has a Journalistic Code of Ethics which is the main reference at the same spirit of the press to behave. This study aims to investigate the implementation of journalism code of ethics in journalism photo of Hukum Kriminal Rubric at GoRiau.com News Portal. This study uses descriptive analysis with qualitative approach. Research conducted at GoRiau.com News Portal, Surya Kartama Agung street 4Ath Pekanbaru. Through purposive sampling technique, the number of subjects in this study as many as seven (7) members. Technical analysis of the data using interactive data analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that; first, the implementation of Journalism code of ethics by GoRiau.com news portal not maximized. Proved by the number of uploads found journalism photo is considered quite sadistic, visible from the elements of blood on the photo. Then lewd photos where the photograph shows the lower part of the body that opens up almost to the vital organs, and does not follow the presumption of innocence. The portal is also inconsistent in presenting the news. Furthermore, the system boosts straight news reporters increasingly raising the level of negligence. Because no matter what, the press has a social responsibility to the government and society. Second, conditions Journalistic Code violations that do not have the sanction further debilitates the Journalistic Code of Ethics itself. Sanctions only found in the Press Law. Such circumstances should mobilize governments and communities to be more intelligent in responding to this phenomenon. Because in fact, social responsibility also embrace the government and the community to keep the continuity of GoRiau.com New Portal not to deviate from the rules applicable thus causing things that are not desirable

Temporal distortion of annual modulation at low recoil energies

    Get PDF
We show that the main features of the annual modulation of the signal expected in a WIMP direct detection experiment, i.e. its sinusoidal dependence with time, the occurrence of its maxima and minima during the year and (under some circumstances) even the one-year period, may be affected by relaxing the isothermal sphere hypothesis in the description of the WIMP velocity phase space. The most relevant effect is a distortion of the time-behaviour at low recoil energies for anisotropic galactic halos. While some of these effects turn out to be relevant at recoil energies below the current detector thresholds, some others could already be measurable, although some degree of tuning between the WIMP mass and the experimental parameters would be required. Either the observation or non-observation of these effects could provide clues on the phase space distribution of our galactic halo.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, typeset with ReVTeX4. Response of CdWO4 crystal scintillator for few MeV ions and low energy electrons

The response of a CdWO4 crystal scintillator to protons, alpha particles, Li, C, O and Ti ions with energies in the range 1 - 10 MeV was measured. The non-proportionality of CdWO4 for low energy electrons (4 - 110 keV) was studied with the Compton Coincidence Technique. The energy dependence of the quenching factors for ions and the relative light yield for low energy electrons was calculated using a semi-empirical approach. Pulse-shape discrimination ability between gamma quanta, protons, alpha particles and ions was investigated.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figs, accepted in Nucl. Instrum. Meth.
