Analysis of TIKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency) Data on development aids between 2005-2012, Applied Turkey Sample,
One of the most important features arisen
by globalization is the fact that all world countries
get into a process to affect each other voluntarily or
involuntarily. During this process, differences between
countries are revealed more clearly and developed
countries cannot remain insensitive to the problems
of developing countries. At this point, development
aids through which inequalities between countries
can be, even partially, removed and the impact of
existing problems on other countries can be decreased
are important for receiver and donor countries. This
research aims to determine the changes resulted
from development aids by years with the use of data
obtained from Turkish Cooperation and Coordination
Agency (TIKA) related to development aids made
between 2005-2012. The dataset obtained from TIKA
was analyzed in Excel program. Within scope of the
analysis, frequency and descriptive tables were used.
At the end of the research, it was found that total
development aids tend to raise in Turkey and the biggest
share among the total development aids of 2012
belongs to official stream. In addition, it was found
that official development aids raised 97% compared
to the previous year; social aids exceeded 16 billion
dollars in 2012 and the countries to which the most
aids have been sent are Afghanistan and Syria
GSM Kurum Çalışanlarının Sunduğu Hizmet Kalitesinin Müşteri Memnuniyeti Üzerindeki Etkisinin İncelenmesi,
Bu araştırmanın amacı kurumsal kimliğe sahip
“GSM” operatör çalışanlarının sunduğu hizmet kalitesinin
müşteri tercih ve memnuniyetleri üzerindeki
etkisinin ortaya çıkarılmasına yöneliktir. Ayrıca GSM
operatör çalışanlarının müşteri talep ve beklentilerine
yönelik düşünceleri ile geri bildirimleri konusundaki
görüşleri üzerinde durulmuş ve araştırma bu yönde
genişletilmiştir. Araştırma Türkiye’de hizmet sunan
üç büyük “GSM” operatöründen hizmet alan toplam
3682 müşteri ve 961 GSM çalışanının katılımlarıyla
gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu araştırma yaklaşık olarak 9 ay
sürmüştür. Araştırmanın evrenini Türkiye örneklemi
ise İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Bursa, Antalya ve Tekirdağ
illeri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler
SPSS 18 istatistik programı ile analiz edilmiş ve
analizde güvenirlilik, faktör, çoklu regresyon, t testi,
varyans, korelasyon ve Mann – Whitney U testleri
gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analiz sonrası hizmet alan müşteri
tarafının büyük çoğunluğu GSM operatörleri tarafından
sunulan hizmet kalitesinden memnun kalmadığı,
hizmet sunan çalışanların ise büyük çoğunluğunun
mesleki tükenmişlik ve özellikle psikolojik anlamda
yıprandıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Saptanan bir
önemli nokta ise çalışanların tükenmişlik boyutunun
yüksek olması iş kalitesi ve sunulan hizmet kalitesinin
düşmesine neden oluşturmasıdır

Health Tourısm In Turkey And Practıcal Example Of Its Economıc Dımensıons,
Turkey has made significant progress in health tourism within the last 20 years and began to
compete with the most successful countries in health tourism. Also, the income obtained from health
tourism has an important impact on the income obtained in health sector in Turkey and makes great
contribution to the economy. This study aims to investigate the place of health tourism in health sector
and its impacts on it. Within this context, various statistical data regarding the spending on health and
health tourism between 2004-2013 was used. The data obtain from TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute)
was analysed via PASW Statistics 18 (SPSS-Statistical Package for Social Sciences) package program.
Within the scope of the analysis, frequency tables and regression tests were used. The research findings
illustrated that private hospitals were preferred more in health tourism, Germany, Bulgaria and Iraq are
among the countries that send most health tourists, service is obtained more in other branches and eye
and oncology fields and health tourism income is affected by the number of the tourists. The results of the
study indicated that foreigners make up 70% of total health tourists in 2013, the rate of health spending
in health tourism is 2.3% and health tourism income increased total heath income significantly
Extreme value statistics for dynamical systems with noise
We study the distribution of maxima ( extreme value statistics ) for sequences of observables computed along orbits generated by random transformations. The underlying, deterministic, dynamical system can be regular or chaotic. In the former case, we show that, by perturbing rational or irrational rotations with additive noise, an extreme value law appears, regardless of the intensity of the noise, while unperturbed rotations do not admit such limiting distributions. In the case of deterministic chaotic dynamics, we will consider observables specially designed to study the recurrence properties in the neighbourhood of periodic points. Hence, the exponential limiting law for the distribution of maxima is modified by the presence of the extremal index , a positive parameter not larger than one, whose inverse gives the average size of the clusters of extreme events. The theory predicts that such a parameter is unitary when the system is perturbed randomly. We perform sophisticated numerical tests to assess how strong the impact of noise level is when finite time series are considered. We find agreement with the asymptotic theoretical results but also non-trivial behaviour in the finite range. In particular, our results suggest that, in many applications where finite datasets can be produced or analysed, one must be careful in assuming that the smoothing nature of noise prevails over the underlying deterministic dynamics

The acute effects of cocoa flavanols on temporal and spatial attention
In this study, we investigated how the acute physiological effects of cocoa flavanols might result in specific cognitive changes, in particular in temporal and spatial attention. To this end, we pre-registered and implemented a randomized, double-blind, placebo- and baseline-controlled crossover design. A sample of 48 university students participated in the study and each of them completed the experimental tasks in four conditions (baseline, placebo, low dose, and high-dose flavanol), administered in separate sessions with a 1-week washout interval. A rapid serial visual presentation task was used to test flavanol effects on temporal attention and integration, and a visual search task was similarly employed to investigate spatial attention. Results indicated that cocoa flavanols improved visual search efficiency, reflected by reduced reaction time. However, cocoa flavanols did not facilitate temporal attention nor integration, suggesting Potential underlying mechanisms are discussed
The links between health-related behaviors and life satisfaction in elderly individuals who prefer institutional living
BACKGROUND: Life satisfaction among residents of institutions is becoming an important issue in a rapidly aging population. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the links between life satisfaction and health-related behaviors amongst functionally independent elderly people who prefer institutional living in İstanbul, Turkey. METHODS: The socio-demographic characteristics, health-related behaviors, leisure-time activities and fall histories of 133 residents of an institution in Istanbul were assessed by a structured questionnaire during face-to-face interviews. A validated life-satisfaction index questionnaire (LSI-A) was completed. RESULTS: The mean age of the study group was 73.9 ± 8.0 (range 60–90 years). Within the group, 22.6% had never married and 14.3% had university degrees. The majority (71.4%) were in the low income bracket. The overall mean LSI-A score was 20.3 ± 5.9. Participants who declared moderate/high income levels had a significantly higher mean LSI-A score than those in the low-income bracket (p = 0.009). Multivariate analysis of the data suggested that leisure-time activities and participation in regular physical activities are significant predictors of LSI-A scores (R(2): 0.112; p = 0.005 and p = 0.02, respectively). CONCLUSION: The findings imply that regular physical activity and leisure-time activities are significantly related to life satisfaction among residents in institutions. Participation in physical activity and leisure-time activity programs may help to improve the life satisfaction of elderly people living in institutions
