Affixoidhungrig? Skitbra! Comparing Affixoids in German and Swedish

In this article we offer a comparative survey of word-forming elements in German and Swedish known as “affixoids”. A highly controversial topic in German linguistics, the notion of “affixoid” does remain useful given the position of the elements in question midway along the cline between compounding and derivation – so useful in fact that we feel it ought to be adopted into Swedish linguistics, where it is as yet unknown. After an overview of the main positions and issues in the debate over affixoids in German, we survey the corresponding elements in Swedish, point out some convergent and divergent tendencies in the two languages, and then compare a few selected affixoids in more detail. We end with some wider issues, focusing mainly on the advantages of the crosslinguistic perspective and on the idea that the relationship of affixoids with their respective “parent morphs” can be described in terms of grammaticalization

Is quantitative analysis superior to visual analysis of planar thallium 201 myocardial exercise scintigraphy in the evaluation of coronary artery disease? - Analysis of a prospective clinical study

Quantitative analysis of myocardial exercise scintigraphy has been previously reported to be superior to visual image interpretation for detection of the presence and extent of coronary artery disease. Computer analysis of perfusion defects and washout rate of thallium 201 was performed on scintigrams from a group of 131 consecutive patients (prospective group), using criteria defined from a previous group of 72 patients (initial group), and compared with visual interpretation of scintigrams for detection and evaluation of coronary artery disease. The sensitivity of the quantitative technique with regard to overall detection of coronary artery disease was not significantly different from the visual method (69% and 74%, respectively), whereas the specificity was higher (86% and 68%). Quantitative analysis did not increase the sensitivity of thallium imaging over the visual method in the left anterior descending artery (46% vs 65%) and the right coronary artery (51% vs 72%) but did increase sensitivity in the left circumflex artery (75% vs 47%). Whereas in the initial group quantitative analysis resulted in a better identification of multivessel disease (sensitivity 81 % vs 57%), in the prospective group sensitivity decreased (54% vs 67%) without significant loss of specificity. The initial group had a 40% incidence of three-vessel disease and the prospective group, 22% (P < 0.05). One-vessel disease was higher in the prospective group (32% vs 11%, P < 0.05). Thus, assessing the quantitative technique in a larger prospective patient population, there was no improvement of detection of the presence and extent of coronary artery disease when compared with visual interpretation

Las cooperativas de trabajo asociado en nuestro país han sido empleadas para desregularizar las condiciones laborales mínimas legales a las que tienen derecho los trabajadores. En esta investigación se pretende mostrar, por medio de un estudio de caso en profundidad, como en Colombia es posible utilizar la figura de Cooperativa de Trabajo Asociado (CTA) para la tercerización. En este sentido, Incoomar CTA, ubicada en el municipio de Marinilla, es una cooperativa apoyada por Leonisa S.A. desde sus inicios, y es una de las empresas que confecciona sus productos. Esta relación nos muestra que es factible responder a los requerimientos de costos y productividad de la empresa capital, desarrollando un enfoque social, y acercándose al modelo de gobierno que se pretende mostrar.The associated working cooperatives in our country have been used to deregulate the legal minimum working conditions to which workers are entitled. This research aims to show, through a deep case study that in Colombia is possible to use the figure of Associated Work Cooperative of (CTA) for outsourcing. In this sense, Incoomar CTA, located in the town of Marinilla is a cooperative supported by Leonisa SA since its beggining, and it’s one of the companies that produces its products. This relationship shows that it is possible to meet the requirements of cost and productivity of the main company, developing a social approach and approaching to the government model that are intended to show

Der Beitrag diskutiert den Status von reihenbildenden adjektivischen Zweitgliedern, die in der Wortbildungsdiskussion der vergangenen Jahrzehnte meist einem Zwischenbereich zugeordnet wurden, der teils mit Begriffen wie „Halbaffix“ oder „Affixoid“ gefasst wurde. Es wird argumentiert, dass es sich um einen Kernbereich adjektivischer Wortbildung handelt, der mit dem Begriff der lexematischen Junktion besser gefasst werden kann, und der einen prägnanten Platz im Wortbildungssystem des Adjektivs besitzt. Dies wird im Folgenden mit einem Überblick über wichtige semantisch-funktionale Felder, in denen derartige Zweitglieder produktiv sind, überblickshaft illustriert.This article discusses the status of productive adjectival second elements, which in the literature on wordformation in recent decades have mostly been associated with a transitional area referred to by terms such as “semi-affix” or “affixoid”. The article argues that this is a core area of adjectival word-formation which is better described by the term lexematic junction, and that it has a prominent place in the word-formation system of the adjective. The article gives a survey of major semantic-functional fields in which such second elements are productive
