    Search for the doubly heavy Xi bc0 baryon via decays to D(0)pK(-)

    A search for the doubly heavy Ξbc0\mathit{\Xi}_{bc}^{0} baryon using its decay to the D0pKD^0pK^- final state is performed using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb1\mathrm{fb}^{-1}. No significant signal is found in the invariant mass range from 6.7 to 7.2 GeV/c2\mathrm{GeV}/c^2. Upper limits are set at 95%95\% credibility level on the ratio of the Ξbc0\mathit{\Xi}_{bc}^{0} production cross-section times its branching fraction to D0pKD^0pK^- relative to that of the Λb0D0pK\mathit{\Lambda}_{b}^{0} \to D^0pK^- decay. The limits are set as a function of the Ξbc0\mathit{\Xi}_{bc}^{0} mass and lifetime hypotheses, in the rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and in the transverse momentum region from 5 to 25 GeV/c\mathrm{GeV}/c. Upper limits range from 1.7×1021.7\times10^{-2} to 3.0×1013.0\times10^{-1} for the considered Ξbc0\mathit{\Xi}_{bc}^{0} mass and lifetime hypotheses

    Strong constraints on the b → sγ photon polarisation from B 0 → K *0 e + e − decays

    Abstract: An angular analysis of the B0 → K*0e+e− decay is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1 of pp collisions collected with the LHCb experiment. The analysis is conducted in the very low dielectron mass squared (q2) interval between 0.0008 and 0.257 GeV2, where the rate is dominated by the B0 → K*0γ transition with a virtual photon. The fraction of longitudinal polarisation of the K*0 meson, FL, is measured to be FL = (4.4 ± 2.6 ± 1.4)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The ATRe observable, which is related to the lepton forward-backward asymmetry, is measured to be ATRe = −0.06 ± 0.08 ± 0.02. The AT2 and ATIm transverse asymmetries, which are sensitive to the virtual photon polarisation, are found to be AT2 = 0.11 ± 0.10 ± 0.02 and ATIm = 0.02 ± 0.10 ± 0.01. The results are consistent with Standard Model predictions and provide the world’s best constraint on the b → sγ photon polarisation

    Observation of the Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda+cK+K-pi(-) decay

    The Λb0Λc+K+Kπ\varLambda^0_b \to \varLambda^+_c K^+ K^- \pi^- decay is observed for the first time using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of s=7\sqrt{s}=7 and 8 TeV\rm{TeV} collected by the \mbox{LHCb} detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb13{\rm{fb}^{-1}}. The ratio of branching fractions between the Λb0Λc+K+Kπ\varLambda^0_b \to \varLambda^+_c K^+ K^- \pi^- and the Λb0Λc+Ds\varLambda^{0}_{b}\to\varLambda^{+}_{c}D^{-}_{s} decays is measured to be \begin{equation*} \frac{\mathcal{B} ( \varLambda^0_b \to \varLambda^+_c K^+ K^- \pi^-) } {\mathcal{B} ( \varLambda^0_b \to \varLambda^+_c D^-_s)} = (9.26 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.46 \pm 0.26)\times10^{-2}, \end{equation*} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third is due to the knowledge of the DsK+KπD^-_s \to K^+ K^- \pi^- branching fraction.     Observation of CP violation in two-body B(s)0 -meson decays to charged pions and kaons

    The time-dependent CPCP asymmetries of B0π+πB^0\to \pi^+\pi^- and Bs0 ⁣K+KB^0_\mathrm{s}\!\to K^+K^- decays are measured using a data sample of pppp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.9 fb1^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The results are \begin{eqnarray*} C_{\pi\pi} & = & -0.311 \pm 0.045 \pm 0.015, \\ S_{\pi\pi} & = & -0.706 \pm 0.042 \pm 0.013, \\ C_{KK} & = & \phantom{-}0.164 \pm 0.034 \pm 0.014, \\ S_{KK} & = & \phantom{-}0.123 \pm 0.034 \pm 0.015, \\ \cal {A}^{\mathrm{\Delta\Gamma}}_{\mathit{KK}} & = & -0.83\phantom{0} \pm 0.05\phantom{0} \pm 0.09, \end{eqnarray*} where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The same data sample is used to measure the time-integrated CPCP asymmetries of B0K+πB^0\to K^+\pi^- and Bs0Kπ+B^0_\mathrm{s}\to K^-\pi^+ decays and the results are \begin{eqnarray*} A_{CP}^{B^0} & = & -0.0824 \pm 0.0033 \pm 0.0033, \\ A_{CP}^{B^0_\mathrm{s}} & = & \phantom{-}0.236\phantom{0} \pm 0.013\phantom{0} \pm 0.011. \end{eqnarray*} All results are consistent with earlier measurements. A combination of LHCb measurements provides the first observation of time-dependent CPCP violation in Bs0B^0_\mathrm{s} decays

    Angular analysis of the B+→K*+μ+μ− decay

    We present an angular analysis of the B + → K * + ( → K 0 S π + ) μ + μ − decay using 9     fb − 1 of p p collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the full set of C P -averaged angular observables is measured in intervals of the dimuon invariant mass squared. Local deviations from standard model predictions are observed, similar to those in previous LHCb analyses of the isospin-partner B 0 → K * 0 μ + μ − decay. The global tension is dependent on which effective couplings are considered and on the choice of theory nuisance parameters

    Observation of Enhanced Double Parton Scattering in Proton-Lead Collisions at root s(NN)=8.16 TeV

    A study of prompt charm-hadron pair production in proton-lead collisions at sNN=8.16\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}= 8.16 TeV is performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 30 nb1{}^{-1}, collected with the LHCb experiment. Production cross-sections for different pairs of charm hadrons are measured and kinematic correlations between the two charm hadrons are investigated. This is the first measurement of associated production of two charm hadrons in proton-lead collisions.     Search for long-lived particles decaying to e ± μ ∓ ν

    Abstract: Long-lived particles decaying to e±μ∓ν, with masses between 7 and 50GeV/c2 and lifetimes between 2 and 50ps, are searched for by looking at displaced vertices containing electrons and muons of opposite charges. The search is performed using 5.4fb-1 of pp collisions collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13TeV. Three mechanisms of production of long-lived particles are considered: the direct pair production from quark interactions, the pair production from the decay of a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson with a mass of 125GeV/c2, and the charged current production from an on-shell W boson with an additional lepton. No evidence of these long-lived states is obtained and upper limits on the production cross-section times branching fraction are set on the different production modes
