O karate é uma técnica de combate sem armas que, sustentada por uma antiga tradição, tem como seu principal objetivo a formação do caráter do praticante. A compreensão da visão de mundo na qual o karate nasceu e se desenvolveu é debitária de uma dinâmica espiritual e psicológica singular cujo conhecimento é imprescindível para apreendê-la. O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar o karate por meio de sua espiritualidade, já que, junto aos textos fundamentais de sua tradição recente, ela é tida como a essência presente em todas as dimensões da expressão da arte. Para tanto, vale-se de uma metodologia historiográfica de perspectiva fenomenológica. Karate-do veicula a espiritualidade do esvaziamento como norte de sua filosofia corporal. Temas com linhas fronteiriças tênues entre si são analisados pela perspectiva de tal espiritualidade. A abrangência desta dinâmica corresponde a um combate subtrativo visando uma apreensão fluida e intutitiva da realidade.Karate is a fight practice that does not make use of weapons. It is based on old traditions and its main aim is to develop a sense of personality in the practitioner. Karate originated from unique spiritual and psychological dynamics, which are of utmost importance for the full understanding of this practice. The objective of this research is to analyze karate-do by means of its spirituality. This is because, together with the fundamental texts about the recent tradition of this fight, spirituality is considered to be the essence present in all dimensions of the artistic expression of karate. To this end, the historiographical methodology of phenomenological perspective was employed in this study. Karate-do has the spirituality of the empty hands method as the north of its body philosophy. Themes with blurred borders are analyzed from this spiritual point of view herein. Millenials e a tecnologia: desafios e oportunidades para as marcas

O presente estudo visa examinar a forma como a geração Millenial se relaciona com marcas, tecnologia e redes sociais, diferenciando-a de outras gerações. De forma a concretizar este objetivo, o presente trabalho foi desenvolvido através de uma metodologia quantitativa, utilizando uma amostra de conveniência composta por 188 participantes de ambos os sexos, oriundos de diferentes zonas do país e com idades compreendidas entre 18 e mais de 61 anos. Ao nível dos resultados, quando comparado com outras gerações, foi possível encontrar diferenças de perfis na forma como a geração Millenial se posiciona face à tecnologia, interação com marcas, ou face à utilização das redes sociais. Spiritual Intelligence: an educational asset

Faz-se neste artigo um mapeamento da literatura sobre inteligência espiritual. Parte-se das primeiras teorias e percorre-se a evolução das mesmas, sinalizando os principais marcos tais como a teoria das inteligências múltiplas de Gardner (1995), a inteligência emocional de Goleman (1997) e a inteligência espiritual de Emmons (1999) e Zohar e Marshall (2004), prosseguindo-se com a análise do contributo de vários autores até 2013. Procura-se ainda evidenciar a necessidade de considerar este tipo de inteligência no campo da educação, nomeadamente as suas categorias de transcendência e integração que se nos afiguram como uma base adequada para a prossecução de uma educação transformadoraThis article maps the literature on spiritual intelligence. Glucose-evoked Na+,K+-ATPase modulation in pancreatic ß-cells from normal and impaired glucose tolerance: role of AMPK

Na+,K+-ATPase is regulated by glucose in pancreatic ß-cells, a process that is altered in glucose impaired tolerance. Although AMP dependent protein kinase (AMPK), a metabolic sensor, is believed to be central in the signal transduction cascade underlying the Na+,K+-ATPase regulation in pancreatic β-cells, its role remains unknown. The aim of this work was to clarify the role of AMPK in glucoseevoked inhibition of Na+,K+-ATPase and to evaluate whether AMPK is differently regulated in pancreatic β-cells from subjects with normal and impaired glucose tolerance. Pancreatic β-cells or islets from normal (control) or glucose-intolerant Wistar rats (GIR) were isolated and cultured. After a pre-incubation (30min) with 2.1mM glucose (G2), batches were challenged for 20min with 2.1 or 8.4mM glucose (G8) in the presence or absence of AMPK agonist (AICAR, 1mM) and antagonist (Compound C (CC), 10μM). Na+,K+-ATPase activity was assessed by quantification of Pi, in the absence and in presence of 1mM ouabain. Phosphorylation levels of α1 subunit of Na+,K+-ATPase- (Ser-23) and αAMPK-(Thr-172) was evaluated by Western blot (WB). In G2 Na+,K+-ATPase activity from normal and GIR β-cell was similar (0.184±0.030 and 0.186±0.020 μmolPi/min/mgProt, respectively). Challenging the β-cells with G8 evoked a lower inhibition of Na+,K+- ATPase activity in GIR (40%) compared to controls (62%). In control β-cell, AICAR abolished glucoseinduced Na+,K+-ATPase inhibition (0,166±0.011 μmolPi/min/mg) whereas CC had no effect. In the contrast, CC significantly potentiated glucose-evoked inhibition of Na+,K+-ATPase in GIR β-cells, reaching values similar to the controls (66%), For both GIR and control islets, G8 induced a 50% decrease of AMPK phosphorylation level compared to G2. CC mimicked the effect of G8, but was less efficient in GIR. Concomitantly, α1-Na+,K+-ATPase-(Ser-23) phosphorylation level was increased upon G8 or CC stimulation, compared to G2 or AICAR. These results suggest that AMPK plays a key role in the signaling mechanism underlying glucoseinduced modulation of the pump, a process dependent on phosphorylation cascades, and that the defect in GIR must be upstream of AMPK. Glucose-induced inhibition of Na+,K+-ATPase may result from AMPK inhibition by the fuel metabolism and subsequent activation of PKC, known to phosphorylate α1-Na+,K+-ATPase-(Ser-23). This mechanism is impaired in GIR, thus potentially contributing to the impaired glucose-induced insulin secretion in IGT. Liderança pedagógica, bem-estar e inteligência espiritual em educadores de infância e professores dos ensinos básico e secundário

Orientação: Ana Paula Silva, Jorge OliveiraOs educadores de infância e professores dos ensinos básico e secundário são, na sociedade de hoje, desafiados por inúmeros problemas, designadamente a exigência de promoverem o desenvolvimento das potencialidades de todos os seus educandos, numa escola que se quer democrática e inclusiva. Para desempenhar eficazmente o seu trabalho, a literatura indica um perfil específico de docente, a do professor líder. Este é um profissional com capacidade de liderança pedagógica que provoca a aprendizagem nos seus alunos, a busca para si próprio e a partilha com os seus colegas, donde resulta uma melhoria das suas competências pessoais e profissionais, uma maior realização pessoal e profissional, bem como mais bem-estar. Causou-nos perplexidade, porém, durante a revisão da referida literatura, que não se criticassem os pressupostos subjacentes a um tal perfil, nomeadamente a dimensão pessoal, na forma de um carácter virtuoso, que alicerçaria muitas das características do perfil elencadas pelos autores. Pareceu-nos que, para tal, a inteligência espiritual, enquanto faculdade construtora de valores, desempenharia também um qualquer papel. Assim, a questão de investigação que orientou o presente trabalho foi: como se relacionam liderança pedagógica, bem-estar e inteligência espiritual em educadores de infância e professores dos ensinos básico e secundário? Para responder a esta pergunta, realizou-se um estudo correlacional transversal, com recurso a metodologias quantitativas e qualitativas, tendo os dados empíricos sido recolhidos através de inquéritos por questionário e entrevistas de grupo (focus groups). Os principais resultados deste estudo revelam relações estatisticamente significativas entre inteligência espiritual e suas subdimensões, a liderança pedagógica e o bem-estar global. Assim, a inteligência espiritual apresenta uma correlação positiva moderada com a liderança pedagógica, e positiva forte com o bem-estar. A correlação entre a liderança pedagógica e o bem-estar global é positiva, sendo a relação mais forte entre as variáveis do estudo. Constatou-se ainda que a liderança pedagógica e a produção de significado pessoal, fator do inventário de autoavaliação de inteligência espiritual, são preditores do bem-estar, explicando 79,8% da variância no bem-estar. Estes resultados foram explorados através de uma análise de regressão linear com teste aos efeitos de moderação da variável bem-estar global, com a inteligência espiritual definida como variável independente e a liderança pedagógica como dependente. Esta análise indicou que o bemestar moderou de forma significativa a associação entre inteligência espiritual e liderança pedagógica, sugerindo que a inteligência espiritual influencia a liderança pedagógica, mas apenas nos educadores e professores com nível baixo de bem-estar global, que são os sujeitos mais jovens e em início de carreira inquiridos neste estudo. Os dados da investigação qualitativa esclarecem de forma substancial estes resultados. Da análise destes dados emergiu ainda o constructo resiliência, não só como uma temática relacionada com o desenvolvimento dos elementos da teoria do bem-estar, mas também revelando incluir categorias da inteligência espiritual, designadamente a «transcendência e abertura ao outro» e a «crença nas potencialidades próprias e nas do outro».In today’s society, kindergarten, primary and secondary education teachers are challenged by numerous problems, namely the need to promote the development of the potential of all their learners in a democratic and inclusive school. In order to effectively perform their work, the literature indicates a specific teacher profile, that means the leading teacher. This is a professional with a pedagogical leadership that provokes the learning in his students, the search for himself and the sharing with his colleagues, resulting in an improvement of his personal and professional competences, a greater personal and professional fulfillment, as well as more well-being. We were perplexed, however, during the review of this literature, that the assumptions underlying such a profile were not criticized, namely the personal dimension, in the form of a virtuous character, that would underpin many of the characteristics of the profile listed by the authors. It seemed to us that for this, spiritual intelligence, as a constructor of values, would play any role at all. The research question that guided this study is as follows: how are pedagogical leadership, spiritual intelligence, and the well-being of kindergarten, primary and secondary teachers related? In order to answer this question, a cross-sectional correlational study was conducted utilizing qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and empirical data was collected through questionnaires and focus groups. The results of this study demonstrated a statistically significant relationship between spiritual intelligence and its’ sub-dimensions, pedagogical leadership, and overall well-being. Therefore, spiritual intelligence has a moderate positive correlation with pedagogical leadership and a strong positive correlation with overall well-being. The correlation between pedagogical leadership and overall well-being was positive and demonstrated the strongest relationship between the study’s variables. Results indicated that pedagogical leadership and the personal meaning production, as factor of the spiritual intelligence self-report inventory, were predictors of well-being, helping to explain the 79,8% of the variance in well-being. These results were obtained through a linear regression analysis to examine the influencing effects of the overall well-being variable with spiritual intelligence defined as the independent variable and pedagogical leadership as the dependent variable. This analysis indicated that well-being indicated a significant association between spiritual intelligence and pedagogical leadership, but only in kindergarten, primary and secondary teachers with low levels of over well-being, who were the youngest and least experienced subjects in this study. Data from the qualitative research substantially clarified these results. Futhermore, analysis of these data indicated the construct resilience, not only as a theme related to the well-being theory, but it also revealed categories of spiritual intelligence, particularly the «transcendence and openness to others» and «belief in one’s potential and that of others»

Formation of authentic personality and the corporeity in the light of Edith Stein

Considerando que o tema da autenticidade tem se tornado um importante referencial ético da sociedade contemporânea, discutimos neste trabalho as contribuições de Edith Stein para a compreensão do processo de formação da personalidade autêntica, com especial atenção à maneira como a corporeidade participa dessa dinâmica. Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, em que examinamos alguns textos steinianos que abordam diretamente o tema da estrutura da pessoa e seu processo formativo, especialmente O problema da empatia, Sobre a ideia de formação e Potência e ato, respectivamente com originais dos anos de 1917, 1930 e 1931. Discutido como processo de formação da personalidade e como princípio de individuação, Stein acentua a necessidade de considerarmos a pessoa em ato, como meio de conhecermos sua autêntica individualidade, mesmo havendo limites para esse conhecimento.Considering that the theme of authenticity has become an important ethical framework for contemporary society, this study discusses the contributions of Edith Stein to understand the process of authentic personality formation, with special attention to the way that corporeality participates in this dynamic. This is a bibliographical research, in which some texts from Stein are examined, which directly address the theme of structure of people and their formative process, especially, The problem of empathy, Concerning the idea of formation and Potency and act, with originals from the years 1917, 1930 and 1931, respectively. Mel-generalized cepstral model for speech spectral envelope

A forma funcional do modelo MGC varia continuamente com dois parâmetros reais ? e ?, possibilitando que o modelo assuma diferentes características. A flexibilidade oferecida pelo modelo MGC aliada à sua estabilidade e bom desempenho sob manipulação de parâmetros tem feito com que os parâmetros MGC sejam empregados com sucesso em codificação de fala e síntese de fala via HMM (Hidden Markov Models). O presente trabalho foca os aspectos matemáticos da análise MGC, abordando e demonstrando, em extensão, a formulação em seus vieses analítico e computacional para a solução do modelo. As propriedades e formulações básicas da análise MGC são tratadas na perspectiva do espectro mel-logarítmico generalizado. Propõe-se um método para a computação dos coeficientes MGC e Mel-Cepstrais que não envolve o uso de fórmulas recursivas de transformação em freqüência. As análises e experimentos relacionados ao método encontram-se em estágio inicial e devem ser completados no sentido de se identificar a relação ganho computacional × qualidade da representação.Abstract: Mel-Generalized Cepstral analysis (MGC) is an approach for speech spectral envelope estimation that unifies LPC, Mel-LPC, Cepstral and Mel-Cepstral Analysis. The functional form of the MGC model varies continuously with the real parameters ? e ?, enabling the model to acquire different characteristics. The flexibility of MGC model associated with its stability and good performance under parameter manipulation have made MGC parameters to be successfully employed in speech codification and HMM speech synthesis. The present study focuses on mathematical aspects of MGC analysis, treating and proving, in a fairly extended way, analytical and computational formulation for model solution. MGC analysis properties and basic formulation are treated in melgeneralized logarithmic spectrum perspective. A method for the computation of MGC and Mel-Cepstral coefficients that do not require frequency transformation recursion formulas is proposed.
