A concepção Lacaniana do imaginário, simbólico e real apresenta uma proposta de releitura das práticas pedagógicas, onde é explorado mecanismos inconscientes, que escapa do observável. Sob uma perspectiva Lacaniana, notamos a confusão entre significado e significante nas didáticas escolares, onde o conhecimento é apresentado de forma unilateral, tornando ineficaz a comunicação entre professor e aluno no jogo educacional

Making Healthy Babies: The Role of a Mother’s Education

The purpose of this research is to synthesize information that expectant parents can use in promoting long term health benefits, both for themselves and their new born baby. To achieve this, an extensive review of the literature review was conducted to identify the most up- to date peer- reviewed information on how the mother’s attitude and lifestyle choices play a role in their health, and how these decisions could ultimately determine their newborns long-term well- being as well. This literature review identifies several important themes for expectant parents and other stakeholders. Is the algorithm used to process heart rate variability data clinically relevant? Analysis in male adolescents

OBJECTIVE: To analyze whether the algorithm used for the heart rate variability assessment (fast Fourier transform versus autoregressive methods) influenced its association with cardiovascular risk factors in male adolescents. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 1,152 male adolescents (aged 14 to 19 years). The low frequency, high frequency components (absolute numbers and normalized units), low frequency/high frequency ratio, and total power of heart rate variability parameters were obtained using the fast Fourier transform and autoregressive methods, while the adolescents were resting in a supine position. RESULTS: All heart rate variability parameters calculated from both methods were different (p<0.05). However, a low effect size (<0.1) was found for all parameters. The intra-class correlation between methods ranged from 0.96 to 0.99, whereas the variation coefficient ranged from 7.4 to 14.8%. Furthermore, waist circumference was negatively associated with high frequency, and positively associated with low frequency and sympatovagal balance (p<0.001 for both fast Fourier transform and autoregressive methods in all associations). Systolic blood pressure was negatively associated with total power and high frequency, whereas it was positively associated with low frequency and sympatovagal balance (p<0.001 for both fast Fourier transform and autoregressive methods in all associations). Body mass index was negatively associated with high frequency, while it was positively associated with low frequency and sympatovagal balance (p values ranged from <0.001 to 0.007). CONCLUSION: There are significant differences in heart rate variability parameters obtained with the fast Fourier transform and autoregressive methods in male adolescent; however, these differences are not clinically significant. OBJETIVO: Analisar se o algoritmo usado para avaliação da variabilidade da frequência cardíaca (transformada rápida de Fourier versus autoregressivo) influencia em sua associação com fatores de risco cardiovascular adolescentes do gênero masculino. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal, que incluiu 1.152 adolescentes do gênero masculino (14 a 19 anos). Componentes de baixa e alta frequência (absolutos e unidades normalizadas), razão componente de baixa frequência/componente de alta frequência e poder total da variabilidade da frequência cardíaca foram obtidos em repouso, na posição supina, usando os métodos transformada rápida de Fourier e autorregressivo. RESULTADOS: Todos os parâmetros da variabilidade da frequência cardíaca para ambos os métodos foram diferentes (p<0,05). Entretanto, um pequeno tamanho do efeito (<0,1) foi observado para todos os parâmetros. Os coeficientes de correlação intraclasse entre os métodos variaram de 0,96 a 0,99, enquanto os coeficientes de variação foram de 7,4 a 14,8%. A circunferência abdominal foi negativamente associada com o componente de alta frequência, e positivamente associada com o componente de baixa frequência e o balanço simpatovagal (p<0,001 para a transformada rápida de Fourier e o autorregressivo em todas as associações). A pressão arterial sistólica foi negativamente associada com o poder total e o componente de alta frequência, enquanto foi positivamente associada com o componente de baixa frequência e o balanço simpatovagal (p<0,001 para a transformada rápida de Fourier e o autorregressivo em todas as associações). A história recente do Futsal na UFSM no contexto do ensino, da pesquisa e da extensão

This article seeks to contribute to the composition of the Thematic Dossier: CEFD/UFSM 50 years: history and transformations in Physical Education from the historical structuring of the representative team of UFSM in the Futsal modality over the last 15 (fifteen) years. With emphasis on the initiative of Physical Education students in 2005, the text introduces the team's sporting history and covers the institutional articulations established under the registration and reformulation of extension projects coordinated by different professors of the Collective Sports Department of CEFD. The indication of the refurbished objectives in the last update of the project contextualizes the current stage of engenderments between teaching, research and extension that are articulated in the perspective of sports development from UFSM. Finally, the presentation of the final considerations covers the medium and long term expectations for different fronts of action that Futsal covers in the institutional and regional context.Este artículo busca contribuir a la composición del Dossier Temático: CEFD/UFSM 50 años: historia y transformaciones en Educación Física a partir de la estructuración histórica del equipo representativo de la UFSM en la modalidad de Fútbol Sala en los últimos 15 (quince) años. Con énfasis en la iniciativa de los estudiantes de Educación Física en 2005, el texto introduce la historia deportiva del equipo y cubre las articulaciones institucionales establecidas bajo el registro y reformulación de proyectos de extensión coordinados por diferentes profesores del Departamento de Deportes Colectivos del CEFD. La indicación de los objetivos reacondicionados en la última actualización del proyecto contextualiza la etapa actual de engendros entre enseñanza, investigación y extensión que se articulan en la perspectiva del desarrollo deportivo desde la UFSM. Assessing the vegetation cover of a municipality is essential for monitoring and controlling land use and occupation. Therefore, the study aims to evaluate the evolution of areas with vegetation cover in the municipality of Guarulhos between the years 1986 and 2022, using Landsat-8 and Landsat-5 images acquired in the years 1986, 1991, 2013 and 2022. As a methodology the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NVDI) was applied to calculate vegetation. It is concluded that the municipality of Guarulhos has been showing a reduction in its area of vegetation cover, mainly due to irregular occupation related to the construction of the Rodoanel Trecho Norte, precisely the areas with the highest concentrations of vegetation in the municipalit

A energia elétrica está presente nas atividades do ser humano e é sinônimo de industrialização, progresso e conforto. A corrente elétrica no corpo humano pode causar tetanização, parada respiratória, queimadura e fibrilação ventricular. No Brasil existem normas que tratam dos trabalhos relacionados à eletricidade, com recomendações para garantir a segurança dos trabalhadores. Apesar disso, dados do DATASUS mostram que o choque elétrico figura como importante causa de mortes evitáveis no país. Observa-se que é importante que os trabalhadores tenham o conhecimento necessário dos riscos decorrentes do emprego da energia elétrica e das principais medidas de prevenção de acidentes em instalações elétricas

Ewing's sarcoma: epidemiology and prognosis for patients treated at the Pediatric Oncology Institute, IOP-GRAACC-UNIFESP

OBJECTIVE: To outline the epidemiological profile and prognosis for Ewing's sarcoma in the Brazilian population. Material and METHODS: The medical records of 64 patients with intraosseous Ewing's sarcoma who were treated at the Pediatric Oncology Institute, IOP-GRAACC-UNIFESP, between 1995 and 2010, were retrospectively evaluated. RESULTS: The statistical analysis on the data obtained did not correlate factors such as sex, trauma, pathological fracture and time taken for case diagnosis with the treatment outcome. Factors such as initial metastasis, lung metastasis, tumor site, age, recurrence and type of surgery showed results corroborating what has been established in the literature. CONCLUSION: The prognosis in cases of Ewing's sarcoma was mainly influenced by the presence of metastases at the time of diagnosis.OBJETIVO: Traçar o perfil epidemiológico e o prognóstico do sarcoma de Ewing na população brasileira. Material e MÉTODO: Foram avaliados, retrospectivamente, os prontuários de 64 pacientes tratados, com sarcoma de Ewing intraósseo, no Instituto de Oncologia Pediátrica, IOP-GRAACC-UNIFESP, no período de 1995 a 2010. RESULTADOS: A análise estatística dos dados obtidos não correlacionou fatores como sexo, trauma, fratura patológica e tempo ao diagnóstico com o desfecho do tratamento. Fatores como metástase inicial, metástase pulmonar, local do tumor, idade, recidiva e tipo de cirurgia indicam resultados que corroboram a literatura consagrada. CONCLUSÃO: O prognóstico no sarcoma de Ewing foi influenciado principalmente pela presença de metástase ao diagnóstico.UNIFESPUNIFESPSciEL

Morphological Alterations in Newly Born Dentate Gyrus Granule Cells That Emerge after Status Epilepticus Contribute to Make Them Less Excitable

Computer simulations of external current stimulations of dentate gyrus granule cells of rats with Status Epilepticus induced by pilocarpine and control rats were used to evaluate whether morphological differences alone between these cells have an impact on their electrophysiological behavior. The cell models were constructed using morphological information from tridimensional reconstructions with Neurolucida software. To evaluate the effect of morphology differences alone, ion channel conductances, densities and distributions over the dendritic trees of dentate gyrus granule cells were the same for all models. External simulated currents were injected in randomly chosen dendrites belonging to one of three different areas of dentate gyrus granule cell molecular layer: inner molecular layer, medial molecular layer and outer molecular layer. Somatic membrane potentials were recorded to determine firing frequencies and inter-spike intervals. The results show that morphologically altered granule cells from pilocarpine-induced epileptic rats are less excitable than control cells, especially when they are stimulated in the inner molecular layer, which is the target area for mossy fibers that sprout after pilocarpine-induced cell degeneration.
