    Utilizing Web Data to Detect Harmful Application Software

    This publication describes techniques that enable a developer of an operating system (OS) to protect a user(s) and/or an electronic device(s) (e.g., a smartphone) by detecting, disabling, and/or removing a third-party application(s) that may be a potentially harmful application (PHA). The PHA may cause signature symptoms on the smartphone of the user. The signature symptoms may be related to a performance of the smartphone (e.g., the smartphone crashes), billing fraud, unwanted applications, a battery of the smartphone, a temperature of the smartphone, and so forth. Using a search engine, the user may submit a search query regarding the signature symptoms the user may be experiencing with their smartphone. In an anonymized way, the developer of the OS may utilize nowcasting of web data to detect, disable, and/or remove the PHA from the smartphone and/or the application marketplace

    Cloud Computing is universally accepted as the most intensifying field in web technologies today. With the increasing popularity of the cloud, popular website2019;s servers are getting overloaded with high request load by users. One of the main challenges in cloud computing is Load Balancing on servers. Load balancing is the procedure of sharing the load between multiple processors in a distributed environment to minimize the turnaround time taken by the servers to cater service requests and make better utilization of the available resources. It greatly helps in scenarios where there is misbalance of workload on the servers as some machines may get heavily loaded while others remain under-loaded or idle. Load balancing methods make sure that every VM or server in the network holds workload equilibrium and load as per their capacity at any instance of time. Static and Dynamic load balancing are main techniques for balancing load on servers.     Synthesis and Evaluation of Tripodal Peptide Analogues for Cellular Delivery of Phosphopeptides

    Tripodal peptide analogues were designed on the basis of the phosphotyrosine binding pocket of the Src SH2 domain and assayed for their ability to bind to fluorescein-labeled phosphopeptides. Fluorescence polarization assays showed that a number of amphipathic linear peptide analogues (LPAs), such as LPA4, bind to fluorescein-labeled GpYEEI (F-GpYEEI). LPA4 was evaluated for potential application in cellular delivery of phosphopeptides. Fluorescence microimaging cellular uptake studies with fluorescein-attached LPA4 (F-LPA4) alone or with the mixture of LPA4 and F-GpYEEI in BT-20 cells showed dramatic increase of the fluorescence intensity in cytosol of cells, indicating that LPA4 can function as a delivery tool of F-GpYEEI across the cell membrane. Fluorescent flow cytometry studies showed the cellular uptake of F-LPA4 in an energy-independent pathway and confirmed the cellular uptake of F-GpYEEI in the presence of LPA4. These studies suggest that amphipathic tripodal peptide analogues, such as LPA4, can be used for cellular delivery of phosphopeptides

    Stevens-Johnson Syndrome while on lamotrigine and NSAID:A case report

    Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a severe immune-mediated cutaneous reaction occurring due to exposure to certain drugs. Lamotrigine is an FDA approved drug used in the treatment of bipolar depression. When it is given concomitantly with sodium valproate, the risk of developing Stevens-Johnson syndrome increases. Here we present the report of a patient with bipolar depression who developed serious skin rashes while on lamotrigine and NSAID prescribed by a local doctor, who recovered after timely management. This case highlights the importance of following proper dosing, drug escalation regimen and managing drug interactions during lamotrigine therapy

    Cancer risk in persons with HIV/AIDS in India: a review and future directions for research

    Background India has a large and evolving HIV epidemic. Little is known about cancer risk in Indian persons with HIV/AIDS (PHA) but risk is thought to be low. Methods To describe the state of knowledge about cancer patterns in Indian PHA, we reviewed reports from the international and Indian literature. Results As elsewhere, non-Hodgkin lymphomas dominate the profile of recognized cancers, with immunoblastic/large cell diffuse lymphoma being the most common type. Hodgkin lymphoma is proportionally increased, perhaps because survival with AIDS is truncated by fatal infections. In contrast, Kaposi sarcoma is rare, in association with an apparently low prevalence of Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus. If confirmed, the reasons for the low prevalence need to be understood. Cervical, anal, vulva/vaginal and penile cancers all appear to be increased in PHA, based on limited data. The association may be confounded by sexual behaviors that transmit both HIV and human papillomavirus. Head and neck tumor incidence may also be increased, an important concern since these tumors are among the most common in India. Based on limited evidence, the increase is at buccal/palatal sites, which are associated with tobacco and betel nut chewing rather than human papillomavirus. Conclusion With improving care of HIV and better management of infections, especially tuberculosis, the longer survival of PHA in India will likely increase the importance of cancer as a clinical problem in India. With the population's geographic and social diversity, India presents unique research opportunities that can be embedded in programs targeting HIV/AIDS and other public health priorities

    DNAAF1 links heart laterality with the AAA+ ATPase RUVBL1 and ciliary intraflagellar transport

    DNAAF1 (LRRC50) is a cytoplasmic protein required for dynein heavy chain assembly and cilia motility, and DNAAF1 mutations cause primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD; MIM 613193). We describe four families with DNAAF1 mutations and complex congenital heart disease (CHD). In three families, all affected individuals have typical PCD phenotypes. However, an additional family demonstrates isolated CHD (heterotaxy) in two affected siblings, but no clinical evidence of PCD. We identified a homozygous DNAAF1 missense mutation, p.Leu191Phe, as causative for heterotaxy in this family. Genetic complementation in dnaaf1-null zebrafish embryos demonstrated the rescue of normal heart looping with wild-type human DNAAF1, but not the p.Leu191Phe variant, supporting the conserved pathogenicity of this DNAAF1 missense mutation. This observation points to a phenotypic continuum between CHD and PCD, providing new insights into the pathogenesis of isolated CHD. In further investigations of the function of DNAAF1 in dynein arm assembly, we identified interactions with members of a putative dynein arm assembly complex. These include the ciliary intraflagellar transport protein IFT88 and the AAA+ (ATPases Associated with various cellular Activities) family proteins RUVBL1 (Pontin) and RUVBL2 (Reptin). Co-localization studies support these findings, with the loss of RUVBL1 perturbing the co-localization of DNAAF1 with IFT88. We show that RUVBL1 orthologues have an asymmetric left-sided distribution at both the mouse embryonic node and the Kupffer’s vesicle in zebrafish embryos, with the latter asymmetry dependent on DNAAF1. These results suggest that DNAAF1-RUVBL1 biochemical and genetic interactions have a novel functional role in symmetry breaking and cardiac development
