    Influence of processing parameters on the recrystallized microstructure of extra-low-carbon steels

    This article deals with the influence of processing parameters of a new procedure for ferritic rolling on the recrystallized microstructure of extra-low-carbon (ELC) steels. Parameters such as coil transfer temperature and degree of reduction during ferritic rolling are shown to control the morphology of cementite particles and the precipitation of AIN process. The recrystallized grain morphology and the percentage of recrystallization after annealing cycles simulating the industrial coiling process are shown to be strongly influenced by processing parameters.Peer Reviewe

    Real-Time and Low-Cost Sensing Technique Based on Photonic Bandgap Structures

In this technique, a photonic bandgap structure is used as transducer, but its readout is performed by simply using a broadband source, an optical filter, and a power meter, without the need of obtaining the transmission spectrum of the structure; thus, a really low-cost system and real-time results are achieved. Experimental results show that it is possible to detect very low refractive index variations, achieving a detection limit below 2 x 10(-6) refractive index units using this low-cost measuring technique.     Thermal decomposition of single hydroxychlorides of nickel, copper and cobalto

    The thermal decomposition reactions of Ni(OH)Cl.l½H20 in still air and in nitrogen and β-CO2(OH)3Cl and γ-Cu2(OH)3Cl in nitrogen atmosphere, have been studied by DTA and TG analysis, and the intermediates and final products have been characterized by x-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscop. The thermal evolution ot the above indicated compounds under dynamic vacuum conditions has be en studied with the aid of an x-ray high teaperature diffraction chamber. They reveals that in these conditions, the pure metallic nickel, copper and cobalt can be obtained at comparative low temperature. The infrared spectra of thése hydroxychlorides have been tentatively assigned

    Averaged Dynamic Modeling and Control of a Quasi-Z-Source Inverter for Wind Power Applications

    Typically, permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)-driven wind turbines (WTs) present a two-stage power converter topology based on a DC/DC boost converter and voltage source inverter. In this study, this configuration is substituted by a quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI), which is an attractive solution for boosting and converting the voltage from DC to AC in a single stage. A 2 MW PMSG WT with qZSI was studied herein. A switched dynamic model (SDM) of the qZSI (including the modeling of all switches and firing pulses) is not recommended for steady-state stability studies, long-term simulations, or large electric power systems. For such studies, two averaged dynamic models are proposed in this work. Both models present the same control system as the SDM, except for the generation of firing pulses, which is not necessary in the averaged models.     Standardization of 18F by Digital β(LS)-γ Coincidence Counting

    The nuclide 18F disintegrates to 18O by beta+ emission (96.86%) and electron capture (3.14%) with a half-life of 1.8288 h. It is widely used in nuclear medicine for positron emission tomography (PET). Because of its short half-life this nuclide requires the development of fast measuring methods to be standardized. The combination of LSC methods with digital techniques proves to be a good alternative to get low uncertainties for this, and other, short lived nuclides. A radioactive solution of 18F has been standardized by coincidence counting with a LSC, using the logical sum of double coincidences in a TDCR array and a NaI scintillation detector.     Effect of Design Parameters on Compressive and Split Tensile Strength of Self-Compacting Concrete with Recycled Aggregate: An Overview

    [EN] One of the prime objectives of this review is to understand the role of design parameters on the mechanical properties (Compressive and split tensile strength) of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) with recycled aggregates (Recycled Coarse Aggregates (RCA) and Recycled Fine Aggregates (RFA)). The design parameters considered for review are Water to Cement (W/C) ratio, Water to Binder (W/B) ratio, Total Aggregates to Cement (TA/C) ratio, Fine Aggregate to Coarse Aggregate (FA/CA) ratio, Water to Solid (W/S) ratio in percentage, superplasticizer (SP) content (kg/cu.m), replacement percentage of RCA, and replacement percentage of RFA.     Producción CientíficaNovel bifunctional ureas and thioureas inmovilized on sulfonylpystyrene have been prepared as recoverable and reusable organocatalysts and used in the stereoselective aza-Henry reaction under solvent-free conditions. The activity and stereoselection of the catalysts are dependent on the length of the tether bringing the active site and the polymer, being the catalyst derived from 1,6-hexane diamine the best one.     Impact of texture TDS and flavour TDS tasks and of chocolate-chip biscuit characteristics on oral processing features

    [EN] The objective of the present study was to investigate differences in oral activity when biscuits of the same type but with subtle composition differences are consumed and how performing a Temporal Dominance of Sensations (TDS) task modifies the way one eats. In addition, comparisons were made between performing a texture TDS (T-TDS) and a flavour TDS (F-TDS). Oral activity while eating biscuits with and without conducting a TDS task was recorded using a 3.dimensional motion capture system to monitor the evolution of jaw movements. The results showed that oral activity evolved over the consumption time, differed depending on the texture of the sample and was affected to a small but significant extent when a TDS task was performed simultaneously (the differences averaged < 4 cycles, 1 s in duration, 0.1 cycles/s in frequency, and 1 mm in lateral displacement). The biscuit samples were affected equally. Almost no differences were found on comparing oral activity during the execution of the T-TDS and the F-TDS tasks. Overall, the present results show differences in oral activity even for food products of the same category with subtle differences in composition. Performing TDS tasks (regardless of their modality) during sample consumption affected the total number, frequency and lateral amplitude of the chewing movements which should be taken into account for future research.
