ABSTRACT Typhoid is endemic in developing countries. We report here the first draft genome sequence of a Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi clinical isolate from Pakistan exhibiting resistance to cefepime (a fourth-generation cephalosporin) and fluoroquinolone antibiotics, two of the last-generation therapies against this pathogen. The genome is ~4.8 Mb, with two putative plasmids. </jats:p

Environmental Factor and their Impact on the Abundance of Aquatic Plants in Iraq

Aquatic plants form important gatherings because they play an Important role in supporting healthy environmental systems and various human activities. As well as its geomorphological role in the formation of riverine landforms such as ridges and river Islands. The abundance and distribution of aquatic plants in different ecosystems depends on the environmental conditions, whether biotic or abiotic. In addition to the growth and diversity of different plants and also the dominance of one species in an area or the joint growth of several species, the emergence of species in a particular location is due to the different regional and local conditions of that system or location. The most influential factors in the growth and variation of plant species and their distribution in different aquatic systems are water movement, nutrients and the bottom of that system. Also, other physical factors such as light, temperature, and chemical factors such as salinity, dissolved gases, and pH which have independent or overlapping effects on the distribution, diversity, and production of plants

A precise characterisation of the top quark electro-weak vertices at the ILC

Top quark production in the process e+ettˉe^+e^- \to t\bar{t} at a future linear electron positron collider with polarised beams is a powerful tool to determine indirectly the scale of new physics. The presented study, based on a detailed simulation of the ILD detector concept, assumes a centre-of-mass energy of s=500\sqrt{s}=500\,GeV and a luminosity of L=500fb1\mathcal{L}=500\,{\rm fb}^{-1} equally shared between the incoming beam polarisations of Pe,Pe+=±0.8,0.3\mathcal{P}_{e^-}, \mathcal{P}_{e^+} =\pm0.8,\mp0.3. Events are selected in which the top pair decays semi-leptonically and the cross sections and the forward-backward asymmetries are determined. Based on these results, the vector, axial vector and tensorial CPCP conserving couplings are extracted separately for the photon and the Z0Z^0 component. With the expected precision, a large number of models in which the top quark acts as a messenger to new physics can be distinguished with many standard deviations. This will dramatically improve expectations from e.g. the LHC for electro-weak couplings of the top quark.Comment: This work is an update of arXiv:1307.8102, minor changes w.r.t. v1 (typos, wrong grammar, incomplete sentences etc.

A compact UWB monopole antenna with penta band notched characteristics

A modified rectangular monopole ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with penta notched frequency bands is presented. An inverted U shaped and slanted U-shaped on the radiating patch are inserted to achieve WiMAX and ARN bands rejection respectively, two mirrored summation Σ-shaped and four mirrored 5-shaped slots are inserted on the partial ground to achieve WLAN and X-band bands rejection respectively, finally rectangular shaped slot with partially open on the feed is inserted to achieve ITU-8 band rejection. The proposed antenna which was simulated has a compact size 30×35×1.6 m3. It is operated with impedance bandwidth 2.8-10.6 GHz at |S11| < −10 dB, that supported UWB bandwidth with filtering the five narrowbands that avoid the possible interference with them. The simulated resonant frequency for notched filters received 3.55, 4.55, 5.53, 7.45, 8.16 GHZ, for WiMAX, ARN, WLAN, X-Band, ITU-8 respectively. The proposed antenna is suitable for wireless communication such as mobile communication and internet of everything (IoE). Throughout this paper, CST-EM software package was used for the design implementation. Surface current distributions for all notched filters were investigated and shown that it is concentrated around the feeding point and the inserted notched slots proving that there is no radiation to the space due to maximum stored electromagnetic energy around each investigated notch slot, proving that the slots play a role of a quarter wavelength transformer which generates for each notched band, maximum gain, and radiation pattern are also investigated

Top EW couplings at Linear Colliders

In this talk, we present the latest study of e+e− → t¯t, based on a detailed simulation of the ILD detector concept, which assumes a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 500 GeV and a luminosity of L = 500fb−1, equality shared between the incoming beam polarisations of P e−,e+ = (±0.8,∓0.3). The study comprises the cross sections, the forward-backward asymmetry and the slope of the helicity angle asymmetry. The vector and axial vector couplings are separately determined for the photon and the Z component. The tensorial CP-conserving coupling can be also extracted by assuming the other couplings to be the SM values. We show that the sensitivity to new physics would be dramatically improved with respect to what is expected from LHC for electroweak couplings

Recursive residuals for linear mixed models

Get PDF
This paper presents and extends the concept of recursive residuals and their estimation to an important class of statistical models, Linear Mixed Models (LMM). Recurrence formulae are developed and recursive residuals are defined. Recursive computable expressions are also developed for the model’s likelihood, together with its derivative and information matrix. The theoretical framework for developing recursive residuals and their estimation for LMM varies with the estimation method used, such as the fitting-of-constants or the Best Linear Unbiased Predictor method. These methods are illustrated through application to an LMM example drawn from a published study. Model fit is assessed through a graphical display of the developed recursive residuals and their Cumulative Sums
