    The Role of Tourism Stakeholders at Jasri Tourism Village Development, Karangasem Regency

    The success on the development of tourism in a tourist destination depends on the role/participation of tourism stakeholders in the area. Similarly, in the development of rural tourism in the Pakraman Jasri Village. Since the beginning or the planning of tourism development in this village until the time of its development, the tourism stakeholders, namely the local community, government, and investors in this village have been actively and directly involved in supporting the development of Jasri Tourism Village. This writing aims at knowing and understanding the role of tourism stakeholders in Jasri Tourism Village which considered have played the important role in developing tourism in the village. This research was conducted by using the qualitative method in accordance with the rules of scientific research and the paradigm of Cultural Studies. The result of the study showed that the role of tourism stakeholders can be seen in the early planning of Jasri Tourism Village and in the development of Jasri Tourism Village. The tourism stakeholders at Jasri Village have done some efforts to make sure that the development of Jasri Tourism Village will be a success and able to give a significant impact, particularly in improving the welfare of the local society of the Pakraman Village of Jasri in the future time

    As a global phenomenon, tourism sector plays a very significant role in the global economic development for the last three decades. This sector has given a very fundamental endorsement of income to many countries all over the world. This article tries to explain the concepts of sustainable development in the tourism sector which were taken from some sources and how tourism as an essential industry can be developed sustainably. It is expected that the development of sustainable tourism should be able to handle the three basic principles of ecological sustainability, social and cultural sustainability, and economic sustainability for both present and future generations. In other words, sustainable tourism development should always beneficial and give a good effect to the local communities, governments, and investors as tourism stakeholders at present days as well as in the future time

    THE ROLE OF MOTIVATION IN MEDIATING THE EFFECT OF PLACEMENT AND DISCIPLINE ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE AT UPTD PPRD BALI PROVINCE IN GIANYAR DISTRICT

    Human Resources has become an important global issue and affects the government system in Indonesia. This condition is because human resources act as implementers of various activities carried out by the organization. Performance is the result of work in quality and quantity achieved by an employee in carrying out his duties. Good employee performance will affect organizational performance. Factors that affect performance include compensation, employee placement, work environment, work motivation, organizational culture, leadership, work discipline, job satisfaction. This study is devoted to assessing the effect of placement, discipline and motivation on the performance of civil servants at the UPTD PPRD Bali Province in Gianyar Regency. Through research with a sample of 35 civil servants with survey methods and data collection instruments in the form of a 5 (five) Likert questionnaire containing questions about indicators that affect performance including placement, discipline and motivation. The data used are primary and secondary data, both quantitative and qualitative data. The data analysis method used descriptive analysis and inferential analysis using the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The results showed that the placement had a positive and significant effect on performance. Placement has a positive and significant effect on motivation. Discipline has a positive but not significant effect on motivation. Discipline has a negative and insignificant effect on performance. Motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Motivation partially mediates the effect of placement on employee performance. Motivation cannot mediate the effect of discipline on employee performance. Keywords: Placement, Discipline, Motivation, Performanc

    This article explains that the island of Bali has its own uniqueness because of its tradition, Hinduism, culture, and local laws. Throughout the advancement of tourism in Bali, the local law should be able to filter the global capitalism tourism culture in Bali. The culture of Bali which was originally very strict with the local values, then get in touch with tourism neo-liberalism and capitalism.The value of cultural tourism is subjected to neo-liberalism global capitalism. On the one side,they are synergizing, but on the other hand, the indigenous people of Bali are just watching and serving the neo-liberalism of tourism. The scopes of problems in this writing can be formulated as follows. (1) What cultural values and laws that can strengthen the cultural tourism in Bali? (2) What are the meanings of the Balinese culture values in social change in the context of tourism? The goal of this writing is expected to be able to clarify the correlation values of the Balinese culture in the context of cultural tourism development in Bali. It also aims at anticipating of the negative global tourism (neo-liberalism) for the growth of cultural tourism in Bali. This study uses qualitative methods and in the data collection,it used depth interviews, involved observation technique, and documentsstudy. The results of this study, are expected be able to provide some inputs to either government of the province or the government of regencies. It is also hoped the government will to be able to dig into their local wisdom values for competitiveness and welfare of the local community, by making regulations and, or a pro-people’s policy for the indigenous peoples and indigenous villages in Bali. The result of the battle of global capitalism with the local traditionvalues, shows that in Bali social change has occurred and there are some correlations among the Balinese culture values with the tourism, culture, and social change in Bali

    Tourism has long been considered as one of the leading sector and the biggest incomes generator for Karangasem Regency. The Regency was rich in cultural diversity and the natural beauty of the lands. Karangasem has a large tourism potential to develop the community-based tourism. Besides the natural and cultural attractions which form the main part of attracting reasons of the regency, Karangasem was also considered to have a good strategic location for business development. However, Karangasem could be a magnet for domestics tourists and foreigners who are not only come from neighbor countries but also countries all around the globe.     The potential of Desa Pakraman Jasri as rural tourism in the alternative tourism development at Karangasem regency

    Desa Pakraman Jasri was established by the government of Karangasem regency as tourist village that had a complex potential as nature and culture tourism destination, therefore, in accordance with the concept of 4H and 4A on tourism developing. The way of life of society who still looked after the custom and tradition their ancestors were a major modal development it, and the beautiful views towards Jasri beach. The tourist who visited and stayed in the village will feel the atmosphere of rural life with a variety of society activities that are still traditional. However, the fact, the alternative tourism that was developed in Desa Pakraman Jasri did not develop based on society’s expectation and local government. In term of this, it needed to be studied, found and resolved the problems with the best possibility. The study result was to show that the alternative tourism development in Desa Pakraman Jasri was not through a deep and comprehensive assessment; therefore, there was a gap between society expectations and the happening reality
