Management method for implementation of raft foundation casting with large volume: Case study on the cyclone preheater tower foundation of Indarung VI PT Semen Padang
Managing the casting of large-volume raft foundations for the Cyclone Preheater Tower Foundation project required a supply of K-300 kg/cm2 ready-mix concrete. The raft foundation dimensions were 39,900 mm * 27,900 mm * 3,000 mm, with a volume of 3,338 m3. The casting had to be completed within six calendar days, a very tight timeframe for such a large volume of concrete. To ensure successful implementation and prevent additional timeframes, coordination between all parties involved in the project is essential at all stages. There are six stages of implementation: 1. Contractor collaboration with the batching plant company, 2. Reporting the results of the contractor-batch plant collaboration to the owner through the supervising consultant, 3. Casting preparation, 4. Concrete treatment before casting, 5. Concrete treatment during casting, 6. Concrete maintenance/curing
The impact of educational videos on English vocabulary acquisition in young children
The research project, entitled "Impact of Educational Videos on English Vocabulary Acquisition in Young Children," adopted a mixed-methods approach (quantitative and qualitative). Its objective was to determine the impact of educational videos on the acquisition of English vocabulary among elementary school students at the "El Bejucal" High School in the city of Chone. The procedural methods used were bibliographic, inductive, deductive, and descriptive. The population consisted of teachers and students from this educational unit. The sample comprised 20 elementary school students and 5 English teachers. Data was collected through a survey administered to teachers using Google Forms and an observation checklist. The results regarding the frequency of use of various techniques for teaching English vocabulary showed that flashcards were a widely used technique. Eighty percent of respondents indicated they used them frequently, while 20% stated they always used them. The following conclusion: when assessing the English vocabulary level of elementary school students, it's important to note that children watch more videos outside of school than inside, and they may try to associate words more frequently outside the educational institution. Consequently, this seemingly disorganized information constitutes a source of learning new vocabulary in a social context of use.

Determinants of variation orders and their impact on cost overrun in coastal construction projects: A case study in Bali, Indonesia
Cost overruns remain a persistent challenge in construction projects, particularly in environmentally complex settings such as coastal areas. This study aims to analyse the determinants of variation orders and their impact on cost overruns in coastal construction projects, using a case study in Bali, Indonesia. A quantitative approach was adopted, with data collected through structured questionnaires from 30 construction professionals, including project managers, engineers, and quantity surveyors. The data were analysed using multiple linear regression to examine the influence of design, specification, safety, and scope-related factors on cost overruns. The results indicate that variation orders have a significant effect on cost overruns, both simultaneously and partially. Among the examined variables, scope changes were identified as the most dominant factor, followed by design, safety, and specification factors. These findings suggest that instability in project scope, combined with design revisions and operational adjustments, plays a critical role in driving cost escalation. Importantly, this study reveals that variation orders in coastal construction projects are not solely driven by internal project factors but are also strongly influenced by environmental uncertainty, such as tidal conditions, shoreline dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
Teaching strategy for the development of reading comprehension
Within Ecuador, a worrying decline in reading levels has been observed among students. Underlying these declines are difficulties in text comprehension, an inability to summarize or paraphrase what they read, poor quality of responses to comprehension questions, and difficulty identifying the main plot of a text. The objective was to establish a teaching strategy for developing reading comprehension in elementary school students (ages 6 to 8) at the "Tosagua" Educational Unit in the Tosagua Canton. The research was conducted from a mixed approach, employing the theoretical methods of analysis-synthesis, historical-logical analysis, systemic approach, and content analysis. The results showed that the proposal is viable and responds to the needs of teachers and families to contribute to the development of reading comprehension in children, with the consequent improvement of performance in school, family, and social contexts
How Salesperson Tactics and Online Convenience Shape Purchase Decisions: The Mediating Role of Trust
Consumer preferences in furniture shopping have now shifted significantly towards online platforms, even though furniture is a complex item and requires careful consideration. This study aims to analyze the role of trust in mediating the influence of salesperson tactics and online convenience on purchase decisions among online consumers of Mahaghony Terrazzo in Bali Province. Salesperson tactics include persuasive approaches, information exchange, ingratiation, and promises, while online convenience encompasses ease of access, transactions, evaluation, and search. This study uses a quantitative approach; a survey of 160 Mahaghony Terrazzo consumers was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that trust is proven to mediate the relationship between salesperson tactics and online convenience on purchase decisions. The results of this study are expected to provide theoretical contributions to the development of marketing literature, particularly regarding the mediation mechanism of trust in the context of salesperson tactics and online convenience. This research contributes to the understanding of consumer behavior in the online furniture market and provides strategic implications for digital optimization and customer experience enhancement
Comparative study on the mood of sports persons and non-sports persons during the pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented challenges, affecting mental health and well-being. It has severely affected the various attributes of the personality of an individual. Sports persons, who often rely on structured routines, physical activity, and social interactions for their mental health, faced unique challenges during the pandemic. Similarly, non-sports persons encountered their own set of challenges, such as disrupted daily routines and social isolation. This study aimed to compare the mood of sports persons and non-sports persons during the pandemic using the Profile of Mood States (POMS) questionnaire. A sample size of 30 individuals, 15 for each group (sports and non-sports), aged between 20 and 25 years, was selected. Sports persons were those who participated in inter-university competitions, and non-sports persons were those who did not participate in any sports activity. The t-test was used for statistical analysis to compare the data of both groups. The results showed a significant difference in mood disturbance levels between the two groups, with non-sports persons exhibiting higher levels of mood disturbance. The findings suggest that engaging in sports activities can have a positive impact on mental health during the pandemic
The effect of the graphic organizer strategy on student's vocabulary building at ITB STIKOM Bali
This study aimed to prove whether the use of the Graphic Organizer strategy (GOs) could improve students’ vocabulary building at ITB STIKOM Bali or not. The population of this study was the students in the first semester who were studying English for IT. Through cluster random sampling, the two classes were taken as samples in this study. They were assigned as experimental group and the control group by lottery. To obtain the required data, the two groups received different treatments. The experimental group was taught by using the Graphic Organizer strategy (GOs), while the control group was taught by using a conventional technique. The instruments used to collect the data in this study were a pretest, a posttest, and a teaching scenario. After analyzing the result was found that there was a significant difference between students’ vocabulary building at students who were taught using the GO strategy and those who were taught using the conventional vocabulary. The findings revealed that None (0%) of the students in the experimental group scored less than 10, while in the control group, there were 6 (17,6%) students who got a score less than ten
The flute: musicality and types of coverage in Balinese gamelan
The flute is a wind instrument in Balinese gamelan that serves to enhance the music and connect empty sections. While it is often considered a complementary instrument, upon closer inspection, it plays a significant role within the ensemble. This paper examines the musicality of the flute and the types of coverings found on the instrument. This qualitative research draws data from participant observation, interviews, and document studies. The theories used include ethnomusical, structural-functional, and ethnomusicological theories. The results indicate that the flute plays a crucial role in Balinese gamelan, not only as a unified whole within the ensemble but also as a stand-alone instrument within the gamelan gong suling ensemble, often referred to as gamelan gong suling. As part of the Balinese gamelan, the flute is rich in musical elements. This richness of musical elements can be seen in the form and type of repertoire, composition, rhythm, melodic formulas, and arrangement patterns. Meanwhile, the flute has at least five types of coverings in use: dong covering, deng covering, dung covering, dang covering, and ding covering
Time–cost trade-off analysis using the precedence diagram method in residential construction projects: A case study in Bali, Indonesia
Construction project delays remain a major challenge in the construction industry because they significantly affect project cost, productivity, and overall project performance. Residential construction projects in tourism-oriented regions such as Bali are particularly vulnerable to schedule deviations due to design changes, labor shortages, and coordination problems, which may reduce investment performance and operational readiness. Therefore, effective project acceleration strategies are required to minimize delays while maintaining cost efficiency. This study aims to analyze the time–cost trade-off resulting from project acceleration using the Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) and crashing techniques in the Brand New Modern Villa Berawa Canggu Project, Bali, Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach using primary and secondary project data, including work schedules, labor productivity, overtime wages, and project cost data. PDM analysis was conducted using Microsoft Project to identify critical activities, followed by crashing analysis through overtime work and additional labor allocation. The results indicate that project acceleration successfully reduced the project duration from 413 calendar days to 392 calendar days, resulting in a total time efficiency of 21 days.
