    Preliminary results on the nutritional evaluation of omega-3-HUFA-enriched <i>Artemia</i> nauplii for larvae of the sea bass, <i>Dicentrarchus labrax</i>

    Freshly hatched San Pablo Bay and Great Salt Lake Artemia nauplii (omega-3-HUFA-poor) and enriched meta-nauplii (omega-3-HUFA-enriched)were compared to reference Artemia nauplii (omega-3-HUFA-rich) as a food source for the larvae of the sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax. Significant differences in survival and biomass production between the treatments could be attributed to the omega-3-HUFA content of the food. A delayed mortality in fish larvae fed the Great Salt Lake Artemia is suspected to be caused by a high level of alpha-BHC in this Artemia source. Growth was not significantly different between the treatments, most probably due to the large variation in growth rate within the treatments, as well as the low number of surviving fish in some treatments

    Based on observations in the field is known that there are many shortcomings exercise leads to increased agility capabilities . Based on the existing problems , the researchers aim to provide a form of exercise that can increase agility and providing intensive training program . In this study the authors only focus on one form of exercise that is training agility drill Ajax Shuttle Drill for this form of exercise has never been attempted on a football school athletes ( SSB ) U-15 Chevron Pekanbaru. This study used an experimental method , in order to determine the effect of exercise . Thus the experimental research method can be interpreted as a method of research that is useful to search for a specific treatment effect against the other in uncontrolled conditions . The first step taken is to Pree -test that tests Illinois Agility Test . To measure the agility of the athletes before training . Furthermore, the samples are given treatment that Ajax Shutlle Drill exercises , and conducted final tests that Post - Pest with the Illinois Agility Test. To see if there is improvement after the treatment was given treatment . Data were analyzed descriptively , then further testing research hypotheses have been proposed to fit the problem is: there is the influence of exercise Ajax Shuttle Drill significant agility. bedasarkan t test analysis produces T count of 14.71dan Ttable 1.77 . Tmeans the arithmetic> Ttable .We can conclude that H0 is rejected Ha accepted . So it can be summed up as follows : there is a shuttle ajax exercise influence on the agility drill at school football player (SSB) U-15 chevron pekanbaru

    DETEKSI MALARIA ASIMPTOMATIK DI DESA MANUSAK KECAMATAN KUPANG TIMUR KABUPATEN KUPANG SECARA MIKROSKOPIS DAN ANALISIS MOLEKULER DENGAN PCR

    Malaria merupakan salah satu penyakit infeksi parasit yang masih menjadi masalah kesehatan dunia,&nbsp; terutama di negara-negara beriklim tropis termasuk Indonesia. Pada daerah endemik malaria, proporsi terbesar malaria adalah malaria asimtomatik. Diagnosis malaria secara mikroskopis merupakan gold standard yang direkomendasikan oleh WHO. Tetapi karena parasitemia pada malaria asimtomatis sangat rendah dan sulit untuk diperiksa secara mikroskopis, maka diagnosis molekuler dengan single stepPCR dalam penelitian ini digunakan untuk mengkonfirmasi kebenaran diagnosis mikroskopis tersebut. Desa Manusak merupakan salah satu desa yang berada diwilayah kerja Puskesmas Naibona termasuk daerah endemis malaria di Kabupaten Kupang. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini peneliti tertarik untuk mendeteksi malaria asimptomatik di Desa Manusak Kabupaten Kupang secara mikroskopik dan mengkonfirmasi hasil tersebut pada tingkat submikroskopik yakni dengan analisis molekuler dengan PCR.&nbsp; Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif intervensional. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan perbedaan yang signifikan dimanapada hasil pemeriksaan mikroskopis tidak ditemukan parasit malaria pada semua apusan darah sedangkan pada pemeriksaan submikroskopis dengan metode PCR ditemukan 1,67% sampel positif mengandung gen malaria. Hasil pemeriksaan PCR dari 120 sampel didapatkan 0,83% positif mengandung gen P.vivax dan 0,83% positif mengandung gen P.malariae dan tidak ditemukan gen P.falciparum, P.ovale maupun gen mixed infectio

    Estimating the incidence of equine viral arteritis and the sensitivity of its surveillance in the French breeding stock

    Equine viral arteritis (EVA) may have serious economic impact on the equine industry. For this reason, it is monitored in many countries, especially in breeding stock, to avoid its spread during breeding activities. In France, surveillance is mainly based on serological tests, since mares are not vaccinated, but difficulties in interpreting certain series of results may impair the estimation of the number of outbreaks. In this study, we propose specific rules for identifying seroconversion in order to estimate the number of outbreaks that were detected by the breeding stock surveillance component (BSSC) in France between 2006 and 2013. A consensus among multidisciplinary experts was reached to consider seroconversion as a change in antibody titer from negative to at least 32, or as an eight-fold or greater increase in antibody level. Using these rules, 239 cases and 177 outbreaks were identified. Subsequently, we calculated the BSSC's sensitivity as the ratio of the number of detected outbreaks to the total number of outbreaks that occurred in breeding stock (including unreported outbreaks) estimated using a capture-recapture model. The total number of outbreaks was estimated at 215 (95% credible interval 195-249) and the surveillance sensitivity at 82% (CrI95% 71-91). Our results confirm EVA circulation in French breeding stock, show that neutralizing antibodies can persist up to eight years in naturally infected mares and suggest that certain mares have been reinfected. This study shows that the sensitivity of the BSSC is relatively high and supports its relevance to prevent the disease spreading through mating

    Dynamics of the family of c-iterative methods

    In this paper, the dynamics of the family of c-iterative methods for solving nonlinear equations are studied on quadratic polynomials. A singular parameter space is presented to show the complexity of the family. The analysis of the parameter space allows us to find elements of the family that have bad convergence properties and also other ones with very stable behaviour.     CMMSE2017: On two classes of fourth- and seventh-order vectorial methods with stable behavior

    [EN] A family of fourth-order iterative methods without memory, for solving nonlinear systems, and its seventh-order extension, are analyzed. By using complex dynamics tools, their stability and reliability are studied by means of the properties of the rational function obtained when they are applied on quadratic polynomials. The stability of their fixed points, in terms of the value of the parameter, its critical points and their associated parameter planes, etc. give us important information about which members of the family have good properties of stability and whether in any of them appear chaos in the iterative process.     Enabling Hyper-Personalisation: Automated Ad Creative Generation and Ranking for Fashion e-Commerce

    Homepage is the first touch point in the customer's journey and is one of the prominent channels of revenue for many e-commerce companies. A user's attention is mostly captured by homepage banner images (also called Ads/Creatives). The set of banners shown and their design, influence the customer's interest and plays a key role in optimizing the click through rates of the banners. Presently, massive and repetitive effort is put in, to manually create aesthetically pleasing banner images. Due to the large amount of time and effort involved in this process, only a small set of banners are made live at any point. This reduces the number of banners created as well as the degree of personalization that can be achieved. This paper thus presents a method to generate creatives automatically on a large scale in a short duration. The availability of diverse banners generated helps in improving personalization as they can cater to the taste of larger audience. The focus of our paper is on generating wide variety of homepage banners that can be made as an input for user level personalization engine. Following are the main contributions of this paper: 1) We introduce and explain the need for large scale banner generation for e-commerce 2) We present on how we utilize existing deep learning based detectors which can automatically annotate the required objects/tags from the image. 3) We also propose a Genetic Algorithm based method to generate an optimal banner layout for the given image content, input components and other design constraints. 4) Further, to aid the process of picking the right set of banners, we designed a ranking method and evaluated multiple models.     Attenuation Length of light in the CHIPS-M Water Cherenkov Detector

    The water at the proposed site of the CHIPS water Cherenkov detector has been studied to measure its attenuation length as a function of filtering time. A 3.2m vertical column was filled with the water from the Wentworth Pit, proposed site of the CHIPS deployment. Results consistent with attenuation lengths of up to 100m have been observed at this wavelength with filtration and UV sterilization alone
