Personal branding for librarians: The way forward

Librarians have always been labelled as knowledge gatekeepers and persons who ‘shusshhh’ people around. However, that may be true years and decades ago. Going forward, do we librarians want to be labelled as such? A brand is a promise delivered. It is our reputation and legacy. Branding is a practice of producing trust which when we market our services, we do so with a promise to meet or exit the expectation of the customer. Academicians talk and discuss the importance of personal branding with fellow students all the time. However some students are just too sceptical to agree and follow the path and information which have been identified for them. Many students are unaware that personal branding does not happen overnight. It takes quite a while for a person to have a personal brand which would suit a person and does not look fake on him or her. This paper discusses the importance of personal branding for all future librarians and how it would assist them to succeed in the challenging working world. It also discuses on how UiTM would create and mould its outstanding future librarians

PENERAPAN SISTEM MANAJEMEN KESELAMATAN DAN KESEHATAN KERJA TERHADAP PRODUKTIVITAS TENAGA KERJA PROYEK KONSTRUKSI GEDUNG DI KOTA BANDA ACEH

Jasa kontruksi merupakan salah satu kegiatan yang memiliki resiko kecelakaan kerja yang cukup tinggi. Oleh karena itu, Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) merupakan aspek yang harus dibenahi setiap saat karena merupakan masalah yang sangat kompleks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan dan pengaruh antara faktor-faktor penerapan SMK3 terhadap produktivitas tenaga kerja pada proyek konstruksi gedung, serta untuk mengetahui faktor dominan pada penerapan SMK3 yang mempengaruhi produktivitas tenaga kerja pada proyek konstruksi gedung di Kota Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara dan kuesioner yang ditujukan kepada perusahaan kontraktor bidang gedung, dengan jumlah sebanyak 102 perusahaan di Kota Banda Aceh. Melalui persamaan Slovin maka sampel penelitian diperoleh sebanyak 51 perusahaan. Hubungan faktor-faktor penerapan SMK3 terhadap produktivitas tenaga kerja pada proyek konstruksi gedung di Kota Banda Aceh, untuk faktor keamanan, dan faktor perlindungan publik mempunyai hubungan yang sangat rendah dengan koefisien Pearson antara 0,000-0,199, faktor peralatan dan pakaian kerja, faktor jalur kendaraan, dan faktor peralatan dan mesin mempunyai hubungan yang rendah dengan koefisien Pearson antara 0,200-0,399, faktor kebakaran, faktor listrik dan suara, dan faktor kesehatan kerja mempunyai hubungan yang cukup dengan koefisien Pearson antara 0,400-0,599, sedangkan faktor umum, dan faktor lain-lain mempunyai hubungan yang tinggi dengan koefisien Pearson antara 0,600-0,799. Pengaruh faktor-faktor penerapan SMK3 terhadap produktivitas tenaga kerja pada proyek konstruksi gedung di Kota Banda Aceh, untuk faktor peralatan dan pakaian kerja, faktor jalur kendaraan, faktor kebakaran, faktor listrik dan suara, faktor umum, faktor kesehatan kerja, dan faktor lain-lain mempunyai pengaruh yang positif, sedangkan faktor keamanan, faktor peralatan dan mesin, dan faktor perlindungan publik mempunyai pengaruh negatif. Faktor dominan pada penerapan SMK3 yang mempengaruhi produktivitas tenaga kerja pada proyek konstruksi gedung di Kota Banda Aceh, adalah faktor lain-lain dengan nilai signifikansi 0,001 < 0,05.Kata Kunci : Kecelakaan kerja, K3, SMK3, produktivitas, tenaga kerj

PERLINDUNGAN HUKUM TERHADAP SAKSI PELAPOR DALAM TINDAK PIDANA KORUPSI (Studi Kasus Kejaksaan Kutai Timur)

ABSTRAK        Pelaksanaan proses perlindungan terhadap saksi pelapor dalam tindak pidana korupsi berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 13 tahun 2006 tentang perlindungan saksi dan korban sebagaimana yang telah diubah menjadi Undang-Undang Nomor 31 Tahun 2014 tentang perlindungan saksi dan korban, mekanisme prosesnya belum diatur secara detail dan lengkap didalam prakteknya belum dapat dilakukan secara maksimal. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa Perlindungan Hukum Terhadap Saksi Pelapor  Tindak Pidana korupsi dilakukan dengan cara nama atau identitas saksi pelapor disamarkan atau dirahasiakan dengan tujuan agar memberi perlindungan dan rasa aman kepada saksi pelapor beserta keluarganya dan harta bendanya. .Hambatan pelaksanaan perlindungan hukum terhadap saksi pelapor dugaan tindak pidana korupsi adalah kurangnya sarana dan prasarana yang memadai, masih lemahnya ketentuan-ketentuan dalam Undang-Undang LPSK, kurangnya sosialisasi yang dilakukan kepada masyarakat luas mengenai jaminan terhadap perlindungan hukum saksi dan korban, kurangnya konsistensi dalam melaksanakan sistem perlindungan saksi dan korban yang telah ditetapkan oleh undang-undang, kurangnya peran LBKH atau LBH dan LSM dalam memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat umum. Hambatan lainyaitu hambatan internal yang dihadapi oleh pihak berwajib masih minim peran lembaga sistem peradilan pidana terpadu.Upaya mengatasi hambatan dalam perlindungan hukum terhadap saksi pelapor  tindak pidana korupsi adalah Sosialisasi kepada masyarakat tentang perlindungan saksi harus lebih di tingkatkan lagi agar masyarakat menjadi berani untuk melaporkan suatu tindak pidana yang sedang terjadi. Kata Kunci: Perlindungan, saksi pelapor, korupsi ABSTRACK           The results of the study explain that the Legal Protection of the Reporting Witness of the Crime of Corruption is carried out by hiding the name or identity of the reporting witness with the aim of providing protection and a sense of security to the reporting witness and his family and property. Barriers to the implementation of legal protection for witnesses reporting alleged criminal acts of corruption are the lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure, weak provisions in the LPSK Law, lack of socialization carried out to the wider community regarding guarantees for legal protection of witnesses and victims, lack of consistency in implement the witness and victim protection system that has been established by law, the lack of role of LBKH or LBH and NGOs in providing understanding to the general public. Another obstacle, namely the internal obstacles faced by the authorities, is still minimal in the role of the integrated criminal justice system. Enhanced Job Ranking Backfilling Based on Linear and Logarithmic Ranking Equations

Grid system is used by many researchers’ and scholars all over the world to solve the complicated and complex problems in different sciences. Job ranking backfilling is the most used model by many researchers in grid system to improve the performance of job scheduling algorithm. The model aims on serving the smallest job in the queue. As a second improvement of job backfilling, researchers proposed job ranking backfilling that serve job based on ranking equation. This paper proposes an enhance job ranking algorithm based on using linear and logarithmic ranking equations. Both proposed ranking equations used curve estimation model to predict on the variables’ coefficients. By simulation and after different tests, the average results of job ranking backfilling with linear ranking equation outperform conventional job ranking backfilling with improvement equal 3.2% and 56.53% in total execution time and average waiting time, respectively. In addition, job ranking backfilling with logarithmic ranking equation shows average improvement equal 1.78% and 46.62% in total execution time and average waiting time, respectively. The results indicate that the proposed ranking equations would improve conventional job ranking backfilling in high and low demand grid system under different condition

Determinants of Indonesian Net Exports of Oil and Gas (1989-2019)

Indonesia is a country that can be said to be the largest oil and gas producing country and is an oil and gas exporter. However, over time, Indonesia's oil and gas imports show a relatively high trend and decline every year due to the increase in domestic fuel oil refinery capacity and domestic oil and gas production is still unable to meet domestic fuel needs. As a result, Indonesia has not been able to enjoy oil and gas optimally. This purpose of the research is to find out whether macroeconomic variables can affect the net export of oil and gas in Indonesia. This research using non probability purposive sampling and total of the sample were 31 samples. This research is quantitative data collection based from data that already available on internet and this research using Eviews 9 for process the data based on the hypothesis. Based from the research, the result from this research is GDP negative and significant on net export, either exchange rate also negative and significant on net export. On inflation result is positive insignificant on net export

Sensor is used to detect an object and determines the distance between sensor and the object. The distance measured by the sensor is sometimes inaccurate, leading to distance errors. Two types of sensors used in this research project are Sharp GP2D12 and ultrasonic LV-Maxsonar EZ1. The output voltage will change based on the distance between the sensor and the object. The sensor’s performance is measured by comparing the actual value with sensor’s measurement value

STUDI LITERATUR PEMILIHAN PROSES EKSTRAKSI EMAS BERDASARKAN JENIS PORFIRI DAN LOW SULFIDATION

Indonesia sebagai negara yang memiliki peran penting dalam penyediaan bahan baku emas untuk dunia sudah tentu harus fokus dalam mengolah emas. Pengolahan emas sendiri umum dijumpai dengan penambahan endapan emas dengan jenis tembaga porfiri dan sulfida rendah (low sulfidation). Kedua jenis tersebut memiliki karakteristiknya masing-masing dan cara pengolahan tersendiri untuk mendapatkan logam emas murni. Mineral tembaga porfiri yang kaya emas memiliki tantangan berupa keterdapatan logam tembaga yang cukup tinggi, kadar emas yang rendah dalam mineral, dan pengotor sulfida. Sedangkan mineral emas low sulfidation memiliki tantangan berupa emas refraktori yang terinklusi dalam senyawa sulfida, kadar emas yang tinggi dengan toanse yang rendah, serta kandungan pengotor sulfida. Tantangan tersebut akan menentukan jalur ekstraksi emas yang sesuai, seperti yang diaplikasikan pada berbagai industri ekstraksi emas di PT NHM, Ok Tedi Mining Ltd, dan berbagai industri ekstraksi emas di Indonesia
