    Uma nova espécie de Epiperipatus (Onychophora: Peripatidae) da região nordeste do Brasil

    This article aims to describe and illustrate Epiperipatus cratensis sp. nov. from Crato (coordinates 07°16’S,39°26’W), Ceara State, Brazil. Specimens of onychophorans were collected under stones and decomposing tree barks during the rainy season. E. cratensis differs from all of the species of the genus by having: (i) many pairs of legs, even though it is the second smallest species in size to the genus in Brazil; (ii) fewer rings of antennas than the other Brazilian species. Furthermore, E. cratensis is similar to E. tucupi, especially because females have 34 pairs of legs, and differs morphologically only by being shorter in size. In addition, this two species are located in different biomes: E. tucupi is endemic to the Amazon region, while E. cratensis is derived from Chapada do Araripe mountains, within Atlantic Forest biome of the Brejos de Altitude complex of northeastern Brazil. Key words: high land humid forest, Epiperipatus, peripatidae, onychophora.O presente artigo visa descrever e ilustrar Epiperipatus cratensis sp. nov. proveniente de Crato (coordenadas 07°16’S, 39°26’W), Estado do Ceara, Brasil. Para tanto, os espécimes foram coletados sob pedras e cascas de arvores em decomposição durante a estação chuvosa. E. cratensis difere de todas as espécies do gênero por possuir: (i) um grande número de pares de pernas, mesmo sendo a segunda menor espécie em tamanho para o gênero no Brasil; (ii) menos anéis de antenas que as demais espécies brasileiras. Epiperipatus cratensis é semelhante a E. tucupi, principalmente porque as fêmeas apresentam 34 pares de pernas, diferindo morfologicamente apenas por serem de tamanho menor. Além disso, essas duas espécies estão inseridas em biomas distintos: a E. tucupi endêmica da região amazônica, enquanto a E. cratensis encontra-se na Chapada do Araripe, inserida no complexo dos brejos de altitude nordestinos na Mata Atlântica.     Nível de ruído no ambiente de trabalho do professor de educação física em aulas de ciclismo indoor

    OBJECTIVE:To analyze the level of noise at the workplace environment among Physical Education teachers during indoor bike classes and its association with some aspects of health. METHODS: Cross-sectional study carried out in 15 different gyms with 15 teachers in Rio de Janeiro (Southeastern Brazil) in 2007. A standardized questionnaire, tested in relation to its replication, was used in order to find out the characteristics of the process and the way this job is organized, as well as complaints related to health reported by these teachers. The SRQ-20 (Self-Report Questionnaire) was utilized in order to verify the existence of minor psychiatric disturbances. The levels of sound pressure were measured by a portable appliance. The level of pressure was verified in dB(A) at equivalent energy levels (Leq) in different places of the room at different moments during the class. ANOVA, chi-square and Pearson's correlation analyses were performed. RESULTS: The levels of sound pressure varied from 74.4 dB(A) to 101.6 dB(A). The results during the class were: a) warm-up (mean=88.45 dB(A)); b) main part (mean= 95.86 dB(A)); and, closure (mean= 85.12 dB(A)). The mean background noise was 66.89 dB(A)). There were significant differences (pOBJETIVO: Analizar el nivel de ruido en el ambiente de trabajo del profesor de educación física durante las aulas de ciclismo indoor y su asociación con algunos aspectos de la salud. MÉTODOS: Estudio transversal conducido con 15 profesores de educación física de diferentes academias de ejercicio, en la ciudad de Río de Janeiro (Sureste de Brasil), en 2007. Las características del proceso y de la organización de trabajo y los reclamos de salud relatados por los profesores fueron colectados por medio de cuestionario estandarizado. Para verificar los trastornos psiquiátricos menores fue usado el SRQ-20 (Self Report Questionnaire). Las medidas de presión sonora fueron realizadas en un aparato portátil. El nivel de presión fue medido en dB(A) en el nivel equivalente de energía en diferentes puntos de la sala y momentos de la clase. Los análisis estadísticos utilizados fueron el ANOVA, el chi-cuadrado y la correlación de Pearson. RESULTADOS: Los niveles de presión sonora variaron entre 74,4 dB(A) y 101,6 dB(A). Los valores promedios encontrados durante las aulas fueron: a) Calentamiento (promedio= 88,45 dB(A)); b) Parte principal (promedio= 95,86 dB(A)); y, encierre (promedio= 85,12 dB(A)). El ruido de fondo presentó el valor promedio de 66,89 dB(A). Hubo diferencias significativas (pOBJETIVO: Analisar o nível de ruído no ambiente de trabalho do professor de educação física durante as aulas de ciclismo indoor e sua associação com alguns aspectos da saúde.     AbstractBackgroundIn BIOACTIVE study, we evaluated vascular responses after the implant of biolimus A9-eluting stent (BES; BioMatrixTM) and the everolimus-eluting stent (EES; XIENCE VTM). In this study, we present the optical coherence tomography analysis (OCT) 6 months post-intervention.MethodsPatients were randomized to treatment with BES (n = 22) or EES (n = 18). The primary outcome was the frequency of non-covered, poorly positioned struts by OCT.ResultsOCT was performed in 26 patients (BES: n = 15; EES: n = 11) and 749 tomographic images and 7,725 stent struts were analyzed. BES and EES showed similar luminal and stent areas. Neointimal hyperplasia area, neointimal thickness and the percentage of in-stent obstruction (8.44 ± 5.10% vs. 9.21 ± 6.36%; p = 0.74) were similar. The rates of not covered struts (BES: 2.10 ± 3.60% vs. ESS: 2.46 ± 2.15%, p = 0.77) and poorly positioned struts (BES: 0.48 ± 1.48% vs. EES 0.44 ± 1.05%, p = 0.94) were similarly low. The frequency of frames with signs consistent with peri-strut inflammatory infiltrate was low and similar between BES (15.53 ± 20.77%) and EES (11.70 ± 27.51%; p = 0.68).ConclusionsThe second-generation drug-eluting stents BES and EES were equally effective at suppressing the neointimal formation after 6 months, with favorable vascular responses. The frequency of frames with peri-strut infiltrate signals per patient was low, and lower than that observed historically with first-generation drug-eluting stents

    Variable exponent Besov-Morrey spaces

    In this paper we introduce Besov-Morrey spaces with all indices variable and study some fundamental properties. This includes a description in terms of Peetre maximal functions and atomic and molecular decompositions. This new scale of non-standard function spaces requires the introduction of variable exponent mixed Morrey-sequence spaces, which in turn are defined within the framework of semimodular spaces. In particular, we obtain a convolution inequality involving special radial kernels, which proves to be a key tool in this work.publishe

    Impact of sunlight irradiation on CvFAP photodecarboxylation

    A visible-light-driven photocatalytic decarboxylation of palmitic acid and related fatty acids is described in this study. Remarkable decarboxylation rates have been observed with full conversion in less than 20 min. In this study, we have demonstrated that sunlight irradiation, even on cloudy days, can deliver similar results to traditional LED lamps while using much less energy and minimizing environmental impact. The findings indicate that the process of enzymatic decarboxylation could be useful for the production of different biofuels in the future

    A human gut bacterial genome and culture collection for improved metagenomic analyses

    Understanding gut microbiome functions requires cultivated bacteria for experimental validation and reference bacterial genome sequences to interpret metagenome datasets and guide functional analyses. We present the Human Gastrointestinal Bacteria Culture Collection (HBC), a comprehensive set of 737 whole-genome-sequenced bacterial isolates, representing 273 species (105 novel species) from 31 families found in the human gastrointestinal microbiota. The HBC increases the number of bacterial genomes derived from human gastrointestinal microbiota by 37%. The resulting global Human Gastrointestinal Bacteria Genome Collection (HGG) classifies 83% of genera by abundance across 13,490 shotgun-sequenced metagenomic samples, improves taxonomic classification by 61% compared to the Human Microbiome Project (HMP) genome collection and achieves subspecies-level classification for almost 50% of sequences. The improved resource of gastrointestinal bacterial reference sequences circumvents dependence on de novo assembly of metagenomes and enables accurate and cost-effective shotgun metagenomic analyses of human gastrointestinal microbiota
