Floquetifying the Colour Code
Floquet codes are a recently discovered type of quantum error correction
code. They can be thought of as generalising stabilizer codes and subsystem
codes, by allowing the logical Pauli operators of the code to vary dynamically
over time. In this work, we use the ZX-calculus to create new Floquet codes
that are in a definable sense equivalent to known stabilizer codes. In
particular, we find a Floquet code that is equivalent to the colour code, but
has the advantage that all measurements required to implement it are of weight
one or two. Notably, the qubits can even be laid out on a square lattice. This
circumvents current difficulties with implementing the colour code
fault-tolerantly, while preserving its advantages over other well-studied
codes, and could furthermore allow one to benefit from extra features exclusive
to Floquet codes. On a higher level, as in arXiv:2303.08829, this work shines a
light on the relationship between 'static' stabilizer and subsystem codes and
'dynamic' Floquet codes; at first glance the latter seems a significant
generalisation of the former, but in the case of the codes that we find here,
the difference is essentially just a few basic ZX-diagram deformations.Comment: 15 + 24 pages, 18 figures. Comments encouraged - email address in

Primeiro relato de Dactylonectria novozelandica causando necrose de raiz e coroa em morangos no Uruguay
Since 2015, a high mortality rate of strawberry plants has been observed in the north of Uruguay related to crown and root diseases caused by a pathogens complex. In 2016, associated with the death of plants, Cylindrocarpon spp. was isolated with a frequency of 42.4 %, ranking third, preceded by Neopestalotiopsis sp. and Fusarium spp. Aiming to increase the knowledge of the pathogens that integrate the complex, three isolates of Cylindrocarpon spp. were characterized by molecular, morphological and pathogenicity analyses in strawberry plants. Dactylonectria novozelandica was identified as causal agent of crown and root necrosis of strawberry in Salto, Uruguay.Desde 2015, se observó una alta mortandad de plantas de frutilla en el norte de Uruguay relacionada con enfermedades de corona y raíz causadas por un complejo de patógenos. Gain-Reconfigurable Hybrid Metal-Graphene Printed Yagi Antenna for Energy Harvesting Applications
This paper presents a hybrid metal-graphene printed Yagi antenna with reconfigurable gain that operates in the 5.5-GHz band. The balun and the driven elements are made of copper, while the directors are made of graphene. The graphene acts as a tunable material in the design. By switching the conductivity of the graphene, it is achieved a similar effect to adding or subtracting directors in the antenna. Hence the gain of the printed Yagi can be easily controlled. This could be of special interest in RF energy harvesting in the design of reconfigurable harvesting elements.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech
Determining Group Structure from Sets of Irreducible Character Degrees
Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is an uncommon heritable disease presenting with syncope or sudden cardiac death. Two genes involved in calcium homeostasis, the ryanodine receptor gene and the calsequestrin 2 (CASQ2) gene, have been implicated in this disease. We describe a young man presenting with exercise-induced syncope, clinically diagnosed as CPVT. Genetic analysis revealed two mutations, p.Y55C (C.164A>G) and p.P308L (c.923C>T), in the CASQ2 gene. Subsequent familial analysis indicates a compound heterozygous form of inheritance. (PACE 2008; 31:916-919). © 2008, The Authors. Journal compilation © 2008, Blackwell Publishing, Inc

Efficient stereoselective synthesis of 2-acetamido-1,2- dideoxyallonojirimycin (DAJNAc) and sp2-iminosugar conjugates: Novel hexosaminidase inhibitors with discrimination capabilities between the mature and precursor forms of the enzyme
Due to their capacity to inhibit hexosaminidases, 2-acetamido-1,2-dideoxy-iminosugars have been
widely studied as potential therapeutic agents for various diseases. An efficient stereoselective synthesis
of 2-acetamido-1,2-dideoxyallonojirimycin (DAJNAc), the most potent inhibitor of human placenta b-Nacetylglucosaminidase
(b-hexosaminidase) among the epimeric series, is here described. This novel
procedure can be easily scaled up, providing enough material for structural modifications and further
biological tests. Thus, two series of sp2-iminosugar conjugates derived from DAJNAc have been prepared,
namely monocyclic DAJNAc-thioureas and bicyclic 2-iminothiazolidines, and their glycosidase inhibitory
activity evaluated. The data evidence the utmost importance of developing diversity-oriented synthetic
strategies allowing optimization of electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions to achieve high inhibitory
potencies and selectivities among isoenzymes. Notably, strong differences in the inhibition potency of
the compounds towards b-hexosaminidase from human placenta (mature) or cultured fibroblasts (precursor
form) were encountered. The ensemble of data suggests that the ratio between them, and not the
inhibition potency towards the placenta enzyme, is a good indication of the chaperoning potential of

Stereoselective synthesis of 2-acetamido-1,2-dideoxynojirimycin (DNJNAc) and ureido-DNJNAc derivatives as new hexosaminidase inhibitors
2-Acetamido-1,2-dideoxyiminosugars are selective and potent inhibitors of hexosaminidases and therefore show high therapeutic potential for the treatment of various diseases, including several lysosomal storage disorders. A stereoselective synthesis of 2-acetamido-1,2-dideoxynojirimycin (DNJNAc), the iminosugar analog of N-acetylglucosamine, with a high overall yield is here described. This novel procedure further allowed accessing ureido-DNJNAc conjugates through derivatization of the endocyclic amine on a key pivotal intermediate. Remarkably, some of the ureido-DNJNAc representatives behaved as potent and selective inhibitors of β-hexosaminidases, including the human enzyme, being the first examples of neutral sp2-iminosugar-type inhibitors reported for these enzymes. Moreover, the amphiphilic character of the new ureido-DNJNAc is expected to confer better drug-like properties.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad CTQ2011-23620, SAF2013-44021R y CTQ2010-15848Generalitat de Catalunya 2014SGR 234Junta de Andalucía FQM-146
Analysis of the interaction between tryptophan-related compounds and ATP-binding cassette transporter G2 (ABCG2) using targeted metabolomics
ATP-binding cassette transporter G2 (ABCG2) is involved in the secretion of several compounds in milk. The in vitro and in vivo interactions between tryptophan-related compounds and ABCG2 were investigated. The tryptophan metabolome was determined by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry in milk and plasma from wild-type and Abcg2-/- mice as well as dairy cows carrying the ABCG2 Y581S polymorphism (Y/S) and noncarrier animals (Y/Y). The milk-to-plasma ratios of tryptophan, kynurenic acid, kynurenine, anthranilic acid, and xanthurenic acid were higher in wild-type mice than in Abcg2-/- mice. The ratio was 2-fold higher in Y/S than in Y/Y cows for kynurenine. In vitro transport assays confirmed that some of these compounds were in vitro substrates of the transporter and validated the differences observed between the two variants of the bovine protein. These findings show that the secretion of metabolites belonging to the kynurenine pathway into milk is mediated by ABCG2.SIThis study was supported by the research projects AGL2015-65626-R (MINECO/FEDER, UE) and RTI2018-100903-B-I00 (AEI/FEDER, UE), predoctoral grants from the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness (BES-2016-077235 grant to AMGL), and grants from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport (FPU14/05131 grant to DGM).
