Visual Localisation of Mobile Devices in an Indoor Environment under Network Delay Conditions
Current progresses in home automation and service robotic environment have
highlighted the need to develop interoperability mechanisms that allow a
standard communication between the two systems. During the development of the
DHCompliant protocol, the problem of locating mobile devices in an indoor
environment has been investigated. The communication of the device with the
location service has been carried out to study the time delay that web services
offer in front of the sockets. The importance of obtaining data from real-time
location systems portends that a basic tool for interoperability, such as web
services, can be ineffective in this scenario because of the delays added in
the invocation of services. This paper is focused on introducing a web service
to resolve a coordinates request without any significant delay in comparison
with the sockets

Generation and Dispersion Model of Gaseous Emissions from Sanitary Landfills
A mathematical model was developed to quantify the environmental impact produced by the gases
emission from sanitary landfills. The stages of gas generation and diffusion were modeled using waste and cover materials placed in a landfill over an isotropic porous medium, while the dispersion stage was modeled for the atmosphere using a Gaussian model. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) criteria were adopted for the estimation of greenhouse gases emissions. The MATLAB computer program was used to prepare simulations of a proposed sanitary landfill to serve the municipalities of Temuco and Padre Las Casas in Chile, considering a lifetime of 20 years. The simulated results show that the conditions of confinement have a greater incidence on the rate of gas emission than does the quantity of waste disposed. It was also concluded that the level of environmental impact varies considerably according to the evaluation scenario and the project design
Effects of litter mixing on litter decomposition and soilproperties along simulated invasion gradients of non-nativetrees
Aims Plant invasions generally lead to mixtures betweennative and non-native litter. We assess the interactionsbetween leaf litters from two invasive non-native trees(Robinia pseudoacia or Ailanthus altissima) and the nativePopulus alba on litter decomposition, nutrient releaseand soil properties along two gradients of invasion. Methods Microcosms with field-collected soil coveredby varying proportions of native and non-native littersimulated the two invasion gradients. We assessed theproportion of remaining litter mass and nutrient mass(N, P, C), and soil C, N-NO3−, total N, and pH, fivetimes throughout a period of 11 months. Observedvalues were compared to the expected values on theassumption of no interactions. Results Litter mass and C mass decayed slower inRobinia and faster in Ailanthus than in Populus. Thethree species immobilized N and P. Soil properties didnot differ across pure litters. Both litter mixture gradientsshowed additive or antagonistic interactions onlitter decomposition, whereas N and P mass were equalor higher than expected. The proportion of non-nativelitter in the mixture had non-linear effects on mostvariables, suggesting that the impact of these nonnativetrees on litter decay levels off or even declinesas they become more abundant. Conclusion The impacts of Ailanthus and Robinia litteron soil processes should not be derived from singlespecies experiments, both due to non-additive effectsand to non-linear responses to litter abundance.Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y UniversidadesComunidad de Madri
Origin and sedimentary context of Cenozoic exotic copper deposits from the Atacama Desert, northern Chile
[EN] This works aims to describe the exotic copper deposits from the El Tesoro copper mine (northern Chile) and
to determine the processes and the sedimentary context involved in their formation. El Tesoro consists of two exotic-Cu
bodies concordant with stratification and separated by ~130 m of barren detritic deposits. The lower exotic-Cu deposit
is hosted in fluvio-alluvial conglomerates interbedded with lacustrine sandy limestones. Copper occurs as a
homogeneous green (chrysocolla) and black (copper wad) paste between the clasts. The upper deposit is hosted in
alluvial fan breccias. In this case, the mineralization consists of a homogeneous green paste and also reworked angular
clasts of chrysocolla. Occasionally, it also occurs as coatings surrounding non-mineralized clasts. This work confirms
that these deposits were synsedimentary and formed during separate events and by different mechanisms. In the lower
ore deposit, copper was transported in solution and precipitated within coarse-grained facies of channel-fill deposits in
distal parts related to the copper source. However, the presence of mineralized reworked clasts in the upper ore deposit
reveals that erosion and physical transport also played a role in its formation. This ore deposit was originated closer to
the copper source and could have been partially formed by pedogenic processes.Este trabajo ha sido financiado por la beca CONICYTPCHA/

Buck derived converters based on gallium nitride devices for Envelope Tracking applications
Envelope tracking (ET) is a technique designed to enhance the efficiency of radio frequency power amplifiers (RF PA). It is based on providing the voltage to the RF PA with variations that mimic the shape of the envelope of the communication signal that the RF PA is processing. As the bandwidth of these signals can be around several megahertz, the switching frequency of the switching mode power supply designed for ET applications has to be very high. The good switching characteristics of Gallium Nitride devices makes them suitable for this application. This paper presents two multiphase converters to be used as envelope modulators in envelope tracking application
The effect of motor activity on improved memory andemotional well-being in elderly women
CO2 footprint reduction and efficiency increase using the dynamic rate in overhead power lines connected to wind farms
Since the first wind farms began operating in the early 1980s, several important factors have changed in the overall picture of energy politics worldwide.
The total renewable wind energy capacity of Spain currently accounts for more than 20% of the total installed capacity, which makes integration into the grid challenging for wind farm owners as well as electricity transportation and distribution companies. The smart-grid concept, which focuses on real-time monitoring and dynamic rating operation of power lines, is an important component in the solution to these new challenges.
This paper explains how a more efficient operation of energy-generating activities via dynamic rating of the electric grid due to a better knowledge of the main parameters contributes to more clean, renewable energy and decreases the CO2 footprint.
The dynamic rating operation of a Spanish overhead power line is analysed, and different scenarios are studied. The dynamic rate achieved in 2015 has saved more than 1100 tonnes of CO2 and has generated over 240,000 € of extra income. This dynamic rating operation also increased the actual annual energy generated from 231.5 GW h to 834.7 GW h with only a 2% greater loss along the line due to Joule and magnetic effects. This work was supported by the Spanish Government under the R+D initiative INNPACTO with reference IPT-2011-1447-920000, the Spanish R+D initiative with reference ENE-2013-42720-R and RETOS RTC-2015-3795-3. University of Pinar del Río Hermanos Saíz Monte de Oca; Cuba.In an increasingly uncertain world where world dynamics accelerates the way of managing processes in any sector, the forecast of tourist demand becomes very important. In this sense, the present research aims to forecast the tourist demand of the Cuban Hotel Chain of Pinar del Río, Cuba, until December 2019, through the use of time series techniques, which facilitate planning and decision-making. in this sector and in this way work towards the achievement of an integration in the productive chains, considering that tourism is one of the socioeconomic activities that activates many other sectors of production and services, as well as predicting the behavior of tourism. For this, the quantitative research method was used as the guiding method, based on the Box - Jenkins methodology and the Holt - Winters exponential smoothing method. It is also possible to characterize tourism management taking into consideration two indicators: cost per weight and average income per tourist, referring to efficiency and effectiveness respectively. In addition, a multivariate analysis of time series was carried out that made it possible to characterize the tourist activity in four fundamental stages in the hotel chain taken as the object of study
