Customers have used many components as data source in the purchase decision process. The motivation of being a social existence and the technological progress have featured word-of-mouth communication and have led to realization of this communication online. From this point of view, the present study focuses on hospitality industry and aims to investigate the influence of online consumer-generated reviews on holiday buying behaviour. For the data collecting process of the study, tatilsepeti.com, one of the oldest and mostly used holiday web sites is used. The semi-logarithmic model is used to assess the impact of online reviews. The results underline the significant effects of online reviews on consumer buying decision process.

How globalization affects the operational efficiencies of emerging market firms?: A comparative analysis on Turkish SMEs

    No full text
This paper examines the impact of globalization on the operational efficiencies of emerging market firms by concentrating on the financial outcomes of a firm’s main operations through focusing on operating income and cash conversion cycle as well as on their possible causes in an emerging market, Turkey. The findings indicate that globalization significantly deteriorates the operating income and lengthens the cash conversion cycle of Turkish firms and their components. However, although no difference could be reported on the direction of these effects, the adverse impact of globalization on operating income and its components are observed to be weaker while the lengthening impact on cash conversion cycle and its components are observed to be stronger for SMEs.

The aims of this study are investigating the effect of service quality (SQ) dimensions on satisfaction, identifying the effect of satisfaction on word of mouth (WOM) communication and repurchase intention (RI) and searching a significant relationship between WOM and RI. Improving CS and delivering SQ help service providers to differentiate the offering. Thus our motive is to find out that the statement is true for healthcare industry. This study has adopted the work of Parasuraman et al.’s SERVQUAL variables. A structural equation model (SEM) that utilizes data from 369 patients facing a range of services is used and finds that empathy and assurance dimensions are positively related to customer satisfaction. However, customer satisfaction has a significant effect on WOM and RI which are found highly related

Serum Prolidase Activity as a Biomarker for Choroid Plexus Calcification

    No full text
The choroid plexus (CP) performs multiple functions such as secretion and reabsorption. CP also acts as the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier. Prolidase plays an important role in collagen metabolism by degrading imidodipeptides, in which proline or hydroxyproline residue is located at the C-terminal end. Serum prolidase activity (SPA) may reflect the degree of fibrosis and inflammation. Choroid plexus calcification (CPC) is considered as the physiological calcification of the brain, and CPC is diagnosed by the presence of calcification in the anatomical region on computed tomography (CT). Here, CPC and non-calcified CP were defined by Hounsfield Units (HU) values of > 150 and 0.05). These findings indicate that SPA is a biomarker for CPC that may be predictive of future brain disease

Efficacy, retention, and safety of tofacitinib in real-life: Hur-bio monocentric experience

Background/aim: To assess the real-life efficacy, retention rate, and safety data of tofacitinib in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Materials and methods: We analyzed all patients registered in the HURBİO database who received at least 1 dose of tofacitinib. Patients who received at least one dose were included in retention analysis; patients with at least 1 control visit were included in efficacy and safety analysis. Factors predicting good response at the last follow-up visit were analyzed by logistic regression analysis. Drug retention rates were calculated using the Kaplan–Meier method and predictors of drug retention were determined by Cox proportional hazard model. Adverse events, reasons for switching, and discontinuation were also determined. Results: Two hundred and forty-seven (210, 85.0% female) patients were included in the study. The median duration of tofacitinib treatment was 10.2 (20.2) [med, (IQR)] months. Two hundred and four (82.6%) patients were included in safety and efficacy analysis; 45.6% of patients were in low-disease activity (LDA) state (DAS28-CRP ≤ 3.2). Predictors of LDA were being biologic-naïve [aOR 2.53 (1.31–4.88); 95% CI] and RF negativity [aOR 2.14 (1.12–4.07); 95% CI]. At 1 year, the overall tofacitinib retention rate was 63.9% with no relevant predicting factor. Response and retention rates of tofacitinib were similar in patients with and without concomitant csDMARDs. Treatment failure was the most common cause of discontinuation. The most common infectious and laboratory adverse events were herpes zoster infection (3.9 per 100 patient-years) and elevation in ALT (x3UNL: 9.7 per 100 patient-years), respectively. Conclusion: Tofacitinib is effective as monotherapy or in combination with csDMARDs. It is a well-tolerated treatment option in Turkish RA patients.PubMe
