Photo and electroluminescence behavior of Tb(ACAC)3phen complex used as emissive layer on organic light emitting diodes

This work shows the luminescence properties of a rare-earth organic complex, the Tb(ACAC)3phen. The results show the 5D4 -> 7F3,4,5,6 transitions with no influence of any ligand emission. The photoluminescence excitation spectrum is tentatively interpreted by the ligands absorption. An OLED was made by thermal evaporation (total thickness of 1200 Å) using TPD and Alq3 as hole and electron transport layers, respectively. The light emission reproduces the photoluminescence spectrum of the terbium complex at room temperature, with CIE (x,y) color coordinates of (0.28, 0.55). No presence of any bands from the ligands was observed. The potential use of this compound in efficient devices is discussed

Photophysical properties and quantum chemical studies of poly(2,7-9,9'-dihexylfluorene-dyil)

This work reports the photophysical properties (excitation and fluorescence spectra, fluorescence quantum yield, fluorescence lifetimes) of the poly(2,7-9,9'-dihexylfluorene-dyil) in dilute solutions of four solvents (toluene, tetrahydrofuran, chloroform and ethyl acetate) as well as the properties in solid state. Photoluminescence showed spectra characteristic of disordered α-backbone chain conformation. Simulation of the electronic absorption spectra of oligomers containing 1 to 11 mers showed that the critical conjugation length is between 6 and 7 mers. We also estimated the theoretical dipole moments which indicated that a coil conformation is formed with 8 repeating units per turn. We also showed that some energy transfer process appears in solid state which decreases the emission lifetime. Furthermore, based on luminescent response of the systems herein studied and electroluminescent behavior reported on literature, both photo and electroluminescence emissions arise from the same emissive units.Este trabalho descreve as propriedades fotofísicas (espectros de excitação e de fluorescência, rendimento quântico e tempo de meia-vida de fluorescência) do poli(2,7-9,9'diexil-fluoreno-diil) em soluções diluídas, de quatro solventes (tolueno, tetraidrofurano, clorofórmio e acetato de etila) e no estado sólido. Os espectros de fotoluminescência são característicos da conformação desordenada da cadeia principal, denominada forma α. Espectros eletrônicos de absorção foram simulados para oligômeros de 1 a 11 meros, indicando que o comprimento crítico de conjugação está entre 6 e 7 meros. Os valores teóricos do momento de dipolo mostraram que a conformação helicoidal formada se repete a cada 8 unidades por volta. Mostra-se ainda que no estado sólido ocorrem processos de transferência de energia que levam a uma diminuição do tempo de meia-vida de fluorescência. CAROLINA MARIA DE JESUS: QUATRO MOVIMENTOS DA FAVELA E LITERATURA

Resumo: Este artigo investiga um caso sui generis de escrita da periferia, o de Carolina Maria de Jesus. Diferente de praticamente todos os comentários sobre ela, o texto trata do nível biográfico como apenas mais um dentro do que é de fato um fenômeno cultural de muitas camadas envolvendo diversos atores. Após caracterizar a favela como um lugar de exclusão inclusiva, o artigo propõe uma leitura que articula a representação de dois vetores espaciais, os da favela e da literatura; estes quatro quadros de referência emergem para delinear a relação entre literatura e marginalidade, escrita e periferia. A conclusão é que a favela assombra tanto a autora como seus críticos; seu principal traço é que ela persiste como um locus simbólico de negatividade. Unlike practically all the comments about her, the text treats the biographical level as just one more within what is in fact a multi-layered cultural phenomenon involving several actors. After characterizing the favela as a place of inclusive exclusion, the article proposes a reading that articulates the representation of two spatial vectors, those of the favela and literature; these four frames of reference emerge to delineate the relationship between literature and marginality, writing and periphery. The conclusion is that the favela haunts both the author and her critics; its main feature is that it persists as a symbolic locus of negativity.
