Development of an FPGA-based gate signal generator for a multilevel inverter

    Get PDF
The application of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) in the development of power electronics circuits control scheme has drawn much attention lately due to its shorter design cycle, lower cost and higher density. This paper presents an FPGA-based gate signal generator for a multilevel inverter employing an online optimal PWM switching strategy to control its output voltage. FPGA is chosen for the hardware implementation of the switching strategy mainly due to its high computation speed that can ensure the accuracy of the instants that gating signals are generated. The gate signal generator has been realized by an FPGA (FLEXlOKZO) from Altera. The design and development of the FPGA based gate signal generator is described in detail. Results from the timing simulation using MAX+PLUSII software are given and verified by the results obtained from the FLEXlOK2O output

    Get PDF
A phase-fitted and amplification-fitted two-derivative Runge-Kutta (PFAFTDRK) method of high algebraic order for the numerical solution of first-order Initial Value Problems (IVPs) which possesses oscillatory solutions is derived. We present a sixth-order four-stage two-derivative Runge-Kutta (TDRK) method designed using the phase-fitted and amplification-fitted property. The stability of the new method is analyzed. The numerical experiments are carried out to show the efficiency of the derived methods in comparison with other existing Runge-Kutta (RK) methods

    Get PDF
The closure of Higher Education Institutions and Schools due to COVID-19 pandemic has affected the structure of Learning and Teaching (T&L) from direct method at institutions to Open and Distance Education (ODE) completely. All face-to-face T&L activities are not allowed except for certain categories of students who need to return to campus in stages to participante in T&L activities in full compliance of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by prioritizing safety measures and social distancing. This study used a quantitative approach by using online questionnaire as instrument (google form). A total of 73 Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) students from various backgrounds of respondents participated in the study. The findings of the study showed that there was a strong correlation between the aspects of interest and gender of TVE students in using learning videos during the COVID-19 pandemic period (r = .701). Therefore, all parties must prepare to face the new norm, namely the ODL method as a whole during the COVID-19 pandemic period to continue the T&L process for students
