    A gender study of self-efficacy perceived in Socio-cultural environment in Mexican university students in the health area

    The aim of the present study was to compare the profiles of perceived self-efficacy in the sociocultural sphere between men and women, Mexican university students of health sciences. A total sample of 524 participants (202 women, 322 men) aged 17-20 years (M = 18.20; SD = 0.72) participated in this study. A quantitative approach with a descriptive and transversal survey design was applied. The results of the one-way multivariate analysis of variance, followed by the one-way univariate analyses of variance, showed that women reported significant higher punctuations than men regarding the perceived self-efficacy in promotion of the culture and cultural identity (p< .001). Therefore, gender is an important variable when design any kind of intervention for improving the perceived self-efficacy of students in sociocultural sphere. Future research should apply these findings within other cultures

    Factorial Structure of the Self-Report Barriers for Practice Physical Exercise in Mexican Athletes University Students

    The present study intends to investigate if the psychometric results are replicated for the Self-Report of Barriers to the Practice of Physical Exercise (ABPEF) in Mexican athletes university students. A total of 651 university students participated (mean age = 20.8 ± 2.4 years). The factorial structure of the questionnaire was analyzed through confirmatory factor analyzes, which showed that a structure of four factors is viable and adequate. The four factors (body image, fatigue, obligations and environment), based on statistical and substantive criteria, have shown adequate fit indicators of reliability and validity. In addition, the results of the factorial analyzes carried out with the sub-samples indicate the existence of strong evidence of the stability of the factorial structure. Future research should replicate these findings in larger samples

A total of 877 university students (mean age = 20.8 ± 2.5 years) participated. The factorial structure of the questionnaire was analyzed through confirmatory factorial analyzis, which showed that a four factor structure is feasible and adequate. The four factors (body image, fatigue, obligations and environment), according to statistical and substantive criteria, have shown adequate fit indicators of reliability and validity, which correspond to the structure proposed for the original questionnaire. In addition, the results of the factorial analyzis carried out with the subsamples, indicate the existence of strong evidence of the stability of the factorial structure. Further research should replicate these findings in larger samples

    Impacto de competencias profesionales en la formación de estudiantes de la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, México

    Expertos en teoría curricular, proponen que un plan de estudios deberá atenderse con ejercicios de reforma curricular al menos cada cuatro años. La presente investigación, refiere resultados de un primer acercamiento al Modelo Educativo centrado en el aprendizaje y basado en competencias que se aprobó en el año 2005 para la Licenciatura en Educación Física de la Facultad de Educación Física y Ciencias del Deporte de la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua. Con la participación de 279 sujetos, considero como variable predictiva a los estudiantes de la carrera según sus áreas de opción curricular: salud, deporte y educación, y como variable de resultados las competencias: cultura en salud; elementos conceptuales básicos; prestación de servicios en salud y la competencia de investigación en las áreas de salud y educación. Mediante la aplicación de una escala tipo likert se encontró que los estudiantes al finalizar su carrera, perciben que el desarrollo de sus competencias profesionales desde la perspectiva de resultados de aprendizaje lo califican en su gran mayoría como aceptables (2-3). Fueron menos los dominios que se calificaron en el rango de competentes (3-4), encontrando además diferencias significativas entre los valores de dominios por competencia y áreas curriculares en particular. El presente trabajo es parte de un proyecto que valora todas las competencias de la carrera (básica, profesional y específica). Se recomienda seguir realizando estudios que consideren la calidad del modelo educativo desde la perspectiva de intervención, así como su impacto relacionado con el rendimiento académico, la trayectoria escolar, aspectos sociales y emocionales del estudiante

    Body image perception in Mexican university athletes VS non-athletles

    The objective of this study consisted in determining the differences and similarities among Mexican University students who practice a sport on a regular basis with those who do not do, concerning their body image perception to their actual, ideal, social and body size dissatisfaction. A total sample of 304 male University students, aged 18-29 years participated in this study; 146 of them practice a sport and participate regularly in a tournament or competition. A quantitative approach with a descriptive and transversal survey design was used. All the participants completed the Contour Drawing Rating Scale adapted and computerized by [1]. The results of the one-way multivariate analysis of variance, followed by the one-way univariate analyses of variance, show that university students who don’t participate in a regular sport are the ones who show thicker models for their present, ideal and social figure, in addition to demonstrating higher body size dissatisfaction. Further research should reply these findings in larger samples

    Composición factorial del Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ) en universitarios mexicanos

    El presente estudio pretendió replicar los resultados psicométricos propuestos por Botella, Ribas y Ruiz para la versión española del Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire en una muestra de universitarios mexicanos. Participaron un total de 1539 universitarios con una edad media de 20.56 años (DE=1.88). La estructura del cuestionario se analizó a través de análisis factoriales exploratorios y confirmatorios. Los resultados mostraron que una estructura de dos factores (importancia subjetiva de la apariencia física e importancia subjetiva de la forma física) es viable y adecuada. Esta estructura atendió a criterios estadísticos y sustantivos, mostrando adecuados indicadores de ajuste de fiabilidad y validez. Sin embargo, el modelo obtenido no coincide con el planteado por Botellay colaboradores. Futuras investigaciones deberían replicar estos hallazgos en muestras más amplias.The aim of this study was to analyze if psychometric results proposed by Botella, Ribas and Ruiz for the Spanish version of the Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire could be replicated in Mexican university students. Results showed a feasible and adequate structure of two factors (subjective importance of the physical appearance and subjective importance of the physical shape), with adequate fit indices of reliability and validity, according to statistical and substantive criteria. However, the obtained model does not coincide with that proposed by Botella et al.     Organizational communication strategies against covid-19 in Higher Education Institutions

    La presente investigación tiene por título “Estrategias de comunicación organizacional frente al covid-19 en instituciones de educación superior”, y su objetivo es Analizar la percepción de estrategias de comunicación organizacional frente al COVID-19 entre departamentos de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur. La comunicación de acuerdo con diversos autores es el papel fundamental, primordial de una organización y a continuación se detalla la definición y se describen sus principales tipos, flujos y beneficios de la comunicación organizacional y más en específico las estrategias de la comunicación organizacional en instituciones de educación superior. La metodología usada fue de tipo cuantitativo y los sujetos que participaron fueron 39 trabajadores administrativos, de confianza y docentes de los diferentes departamentos de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur, de la ciudad de La Paz, B.C.S. Distribuidos por sexo: 20 fueron hombres y 19 mujeres. Sus edades comprendieron desde 21 a 51 años; donde 14 presentan de 20 a 30 años, 14 de 31 a 41 años y 11 de 42 a 52 años, teniendo un promedio de 36 años. Los resultados muestran que al personal que tiene de 21 a 30 años laborando en la universidad se le brindan significativamente de inmediato suficiente información para realizar su trabajo en casa [F(2,36)= 3.333, p .047] y existen una diferencia significativa en la información recibida sobre su desempeño laboral por parte de su jefe [F(2,36)= 4.296, p .021] que al resto del personal.The present investigation is entitled "Organizational communication strategies against covid-19 in higher education institutions", and its objective is to analyze the perception of organizational communication strategies against COVID-19 between departments of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur . Communication according to various authors is the fundamental, primary role of an organization and the definition is detailed below and its main types, flows and benefits of organizational communication are described and more specifically the strategies of organizational communication in educational institutions higher. The methodology used in was quantitative and the subjects who participated were 39 administrative workers, trustees, and teachers from the different departments of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur, in the city of La Paz, B.C.S. Distributed by sex: 20 were men and 19 women. Their ages ranged from 21 to 51 years; where 14 present from 20 to 30 years, 14 from 31 to 41 years and 11 from 42 to 52 years, having an average of 36 years. The results show that staff between the ages of 21 and 30 working at the university are significantly immediately provided with sufficient information to carry out their work at home [F(2,36)= 3.333, p .047] and there is a difference significant in the information received about their job performance from their boss [F(2,36)= 4.296, p .021] than the rest of the staff

    Motivación Hacia Las Clases De Educación Física En Preadolescentes Mexicanos De Acuerdo Al Género

    The aim of the present research was to compare the motivation towards physical education profiles from Mexican elementary school students. The total sample included 274 students (140 girls) from Chihuahua City, Mexico; children's ages ranged from 10 to 12 years. A quantitative approach with a descriptive transversal design was used. Results from a one-way MANOVA followed by univariate analyses of variance showed that compared to boys, girls report higher levels of intrinsic motivation (F = 19.188, p &lt;.001), integrated regulation (F = 13.730, p &lt;.001), identified regulation (F = 11.902, p &lt;.001) and introjected regulation (F = 6.937, p &lt;.01); no significant differences were encountered in external regulation and demotivation. These results indicate that, in general, women show a better profile of motivation towards physical education classes than men. However, it is necessary to develop more research because the issue transcends the scope of the present study

    Composición e invarianza factorial del cuestionario Medida de la Intencionalidad para ser Físicamente Activo (MIFA) en adolescentes mexicanos

    The aim of this research was to analyze the psychometric properties proposed by Moreno et al. (2007) for the Measurement of Intention to be Physically Active (MIFA) questionnaire. The total sample has been composed by 549 Mexican adolescents, 256 women and 293 mean, with ages from 11 to 16 years (M = 12.91, SD = 0.49). The factor structure of questionnaire has been analized through the confirmatory factor analysis. This analysis shows that a unifactorial structure is viable and adequate for the total sample and the populations of men and women. The unifactorial structure, according to statistical and substantive criteria, has shown adequate indicators of reliability and validity adjustment. On the other hand, the factorial structure, the factorial loads and the intercepts are considered invariant according to gender; however, there are differences between men and women for the average intentionality of being physically active. In conclusion, the MIFA-M can be a useful tool to advance in the study of the factors that affect the practice of physical activity.El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar las propiedades psicométricas propuestos por Moreno, Moreno y Cervelló (2007) para el cuestionario Medida de la Intencionalidad para ser Físicamente Activo (MIFA). La muestra total fue de 549 adolescentes mexicanos 256 mujeres y 293 hombres, con edades comprendidas entre 11-16 años (M = 12.91; DE = 0.49). La estructura factorial del cuestionario se analizó mediante análisis factoriales confirmatorios. Los análisis, muestran que una estructura unifactorial es viable y adecuada tanto para la muestra total como para las poblaciones de hombres y mujeres. La estructura unifactorial, atendiendo a criterios estadísticos y sustantivos, ha mostrado adecuados indicadores de ajuste de fiabilidad y validez. Por otro lado, la estructura factorial, las cargas factoriales y los interceptos se consideran invariantes de acuerdo al género; sin embargo, existen diferencias entre hombres y mujeres para la media de intencionalidad para ser físicamente activo. Os resultados mostraram que uma estrutura unifatorial é viável e adequada tanto para a amostra total quanto para as populações de homens e mulheres. Com base em critérios estatísticos e substantivos, a estrutura unifatorial apresentou indicadores adequados de confiabilidade e validade. Além disso, a estrutura fatorial, as cargas fatoriais e os interceptos eram invariantes de acordo com o gênero. Maiores valores de intenção de ser fisicamente ativo em homens do que em mulheres foram encontrados.
