A dynamical gluon mass solution in a coupled system of the Schwinger-Dyson equations
We study numerically the Schwinger-Dyson equations for the coupled system of
gluon and ghost propagators in the Landau gauge and in the case of pure gauge
QCD. We show that a dynamical mass for the gluon propagator arises as a
solution while the ghost propagator develops an enhanced behavior in the
infrared regime of QCD. Simple analytical expressions are proposed for the
propagators, and the mass dependency on the scale and its
perturbative scaling are studied. We discuss the implications of our results
for the infrared behavior of the coupling constant, which, according to fits
for the propagators infrared behavior, seems to indicate that as .Comment: 17 pages, 7 figures - Revised version to be consistent with erratum

Induced inflation from a 5D purely kinetic scalar field formalism on warped product spaces
Considering a separable and purely kinetic 5D scalar field on a warped
product metric background we propose a new and more general approach for
inducing 4D scalar potentials on a 4D constant foliation of the 5D space-time.
We obtain an induced potential for a true 4D scalar field instead of a
potential for an effective 4D scalar field. In this formalism we can recover
the usual 4D inflationary formalism with a geometrically induced inflationary
potential. In addition the quantum confinement of the inflaton modes is
obtained naturally from the model for at least a class of warping factors.
Besides the 4D inflationary physics that results of this formalism is
independent of the 4D-hypersurface chosen.Comment: 8 pages Accepted for publication in European Physical Journal
Exotic vertolike quark phenomenology in the minimal linear σ model
Extensions of the Standard Model that include vectorlike quarks commonly also include additional particles that may mediate new production or decay modes. Using the minimal linear σ model as an example, which reduces to the minimal SO (5)/SO (4) composite Higgs model in a specific limit, we consider the phenomenology of vectorlike quarks when a scalar singlet σ is present. This new particle may be produced in the decays T → tσ, B → bσ, where T and B are vectorlike quarks of charges 2/3 and −1/3, respectively, with the subsequent decay σ → W+W−, ZZ, hh. By scanning over the allowed parameter space we find that these decays may be dominant. In addition, we find that the presence of several new particles allows for single T production cross sections larger than those expected in minimal models. We discuss the observability of these new signatures in existing searchesThe authors acknowledge partial financial support by the Spanish MINECO through the Centro de excelencia Severo Ochoa Program under Grant No. SEV2016-0597. Confinement, the gluon propagator and the interquark potential for heavy mesons
The interquark static potential for heavy mesons described by a massive One
Gluon Exchange interaction obtained from the propagator of the truncated
Dyson-Schwinger equations does not reproduced the expected Cornell potential. I
show that no formulation based on a finite propagator will lead to confinement
of quenched QCD. I propose a mechanism based on a singular nonperturbative
coupling constant which has the virtue of giving rise to a finite gluon
propagator and (almost) linear confinement. The mechanism can be slightly
modified to produce the screened potentials of unquenched QCD.Comment: 12 pages and 7 figure
