ATLÂNTICO SUL: AS RELAÇÕES DO BRASIL COM OS PAÍSES AFRICANOS NO CAMPO DA SEGURANÇA E DEFESA

South-South Cooperation has become one of the axis of the Brazilian foreign policy, especially when related to Africa. Besides the economic, political and technologic areas, among others, the Brazilian government created a series of cooperation agreements with many African countries in the field of security and defense. This paper analyses the objective and reach of the actions concerning South-South Cooperation between the government of Brazil and the African countries, especially the ones from Atlantic Africa, making use of a bibliography related to the subject and sources derived from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defense.A Cooperação Sul-Sul se conformou como um dos eixos da política externa brasileira, especialmente com a África. Além das áreas econômica, política e tecnológica, dentre outras, o governo brasileiro firmou uma série de acordos de cooperação no campo da segurança e defesa com diversos países africanos. O trabalho aborda o sentido e o alcance das ações de cooperação Sul-Sul entre o governo brasileiro e os países africanos, em especial os da África Atlântica, utilizando bibliografia que trata do assunto e fontes provenientes do Ministério de Relações Exteriores e do Ministério da Defesa

Operações de Paz: novos mandatos e suas implicações para os países contribuintes com tropas * Peace operations: new mandates and their implications for troops contributing countries

O artigo apresenta as alterações nas operações de paz contemporâneas conduzidas pela Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) e suas implicações para o Brasil. Baseada em bibliografia sobre o assunto e documentos das Nações Unidas o texto apresenta o apoio conceitual e jurídico para a implementação dessas operações e descreve a evolução dos mandatos e do uso da força pelo componente militar. Com base nas alterações recentes, o texto discorre sobre tendências na aprovação e condução das operações e suas implicações para os países contribuintes com tropa.   

AS MISSÕES DE PAZ HÍBRIDAS: A UNAMID EM DARFUR

RESUMO: Em 2007, a Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) estabeleceu no Sudão a United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), como missão híbrida juntamente com a União Africana. Esse formato híbrido de operação de paz trouxe diversos desafios e questionamentos quanto à sua eficácia. O texto apresenta os principais problemas e desafios enfrentados por esta missão desde seu desdobramento. Utilizando documentos e fontes secundárias, apresenta as mudanças ocorridas nas missões de paz até chegar ao modelo de operação híbrida, o conflito no Sudão e os problemas e desafios enfrentados pela UNAMID no terreno, desde o campo político até o operacional. ABSTRACT: In 2007, the United Nations (UN) established in Sudan the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), as a hybrid mission along with the African Union. This hybrid form of peacekeeping operation has brought several challenges and questions about its effectiveness. The text presents the main problems and challenges faced by this mission since its deployment. Using documents and secondary sources, it presents the changes that have occurred in the peace missions until reaching the hybrid operation model, the conflict in Sudan and the problems and challenges faced by UNAMID on the ground, from the political to the operational field. O uso de veículos aéreos não tripulados (VANTs) na operação de paz da ONU na República Democrática do Congo

From 2013, the United Nations (UN) introduced the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) on the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). The paper uses the deployment of VANTs in MONUSCO to make some considerations about the use of this technology on peacekeeping operations.A partir de 2013, a Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) introduziu o uso de Veículos Aéreos Não Tripulados (VANTS) na Missão de Estabilização da ONU na República Democrática do Congo (MONUSCO). O trabalho utiliza o emprego de VANTS na MONUSCO para fazer algumas considerações sobre o uso dessa tecnologia nas operações de paz

The inventory of geological heritage of the state of São Paulo, Brazil: Methodological basis, results and perspectives

An inventory of geological sites based on solid and clear criteria is a first step for any geoconservation strategy. This paper describes the method used in the geoheritage inventory of the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and presents its main results. This inventory developed by the geoscientific community aimed to identify geosites with scientific value in the whole state, using a systematic approach. All 142 geosites representative of 11 geological frameworks were characterised and quantitatively evaluated according to their scientific value and risk of degradation, in order to establish priorities for their future management. An online database of the inventory is under construction, which will be available to be easily consulted and updated by the geoscientific community.
