La sátira política en la prensa digital. El caso de El Mundo Today

El principal objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la sátira política empleada en el medio de comunicación conocido como El Mundo Today para conocer si es un medio neutral en el ámbito informativo o tiene una estrategia política que convenga en criticar de manera especial a algún partido político y a su líder. La investigación se enmarca en el área de estudio del infoentretenimiento, la infosátira y la sátira política. En el trabajo de campo se realiza un análisis de contenido para establecer el nivel de sátira política empleada en dicho medio, los temas políticos más tratados y los partidos políticos o líderes más satirizados en el periodo examinado, además llevar a cabo una encuesta de población para conocer la legitimidad que el público otorga a dicho medio. Los resultados del trabajo avanzan que este diario digital no se inclina hacia ninguna ideología, aunque los partidos políticos de derechas son más objetos de sátira que los de izquierdas.The main objective of this work is to analyse the political satire implemented in the mass media known as ‘El Mundo Today’ to find out whether it is an unbiased tool in the news scope or if it has a political strategy that needs to be criticized in a concrete way any party and its leader. The research belongs to the study area of infoentertaining so as to determine the degree of political satire implemented in that media, the political aspects that are more commented and the parties or leaders more satirised in the period analysed, as well as to carry out a survey to know the legitimacy that the audience gives to that media. The results of this work suggest that this digital diary does not favour any ideology, although right wing parties are more a target for satire compared to left wing parties.Grado en Periodism

Puentes romanos de Lusitania: arte y técnica

Trabajo presentado al XI Coloquio Internacional de Arte Romano Provincial, celebrado en Mérida (España) del 18 al 21 de mayo de 2009.In this paper we analyze the decorative and artistic values of Roman bridges. We focus our attention on the constructions limited to the province of Lusitania. In this ancient demarcation some of the most representative examples of Roman bridges are located, like the ones from Mérida, Alcántara and Alconétar. They are mainly characterized by an “aesthetic sobriety” caused by the technical-constructive resources necessary for the stability of the bridge.A. Modeling and design of cookware for induction heating technology with balanced electromagnetic and thermal characteristics

Improving the cooking experience of induction-heating users involves, among other factors, an optimized power distribution at the bottom of the cooking vessel. Conventional ferromagnetic cookware presents high efficiency but unequal temperature distribution with flat inductors, which subsequently leads to uneven cooking results. In this work, we propose an alternative to the traditional cookware arrangement by inserting some aluminum pieces in the ferromagnetic bottom of cookware. This arrangement combines the optimal inductive performance of the ferromagnetic iron an the high thermal conductivity of aluminum. The performance of the proposed arrangement is analyzed by means of a multiphysics tool including electromagnetic and heat transfer sub-models which is applied to predict both the equivalent electrical circuit and the temperature distribution in cookware. As a result, a balanced trade-off between efficiency and temperature distribution is evidenced with the proposed solution. Analysis and optimization of the efficiency of induction heating applications with litz-wire planar and solenoidal coils

Optimization of the efficiency of an induction heating application is essential in order to improve both reliability and performance. For this purpose, multi-stranded cables with litz structure are often used in induction heating applications. This paper presents an analysis and optimization of the efficiency of induction heating systems focusing on the optimal copper volume of the winding with respect to different constraints. The analysis is based on the concept of a one-strand one-turn coil, which captures the dissipative effects of an induction heating system and reduces the number of variables of the analysis. An expression for the efficiency of the induction heating system is derived. It is found that, with the geometry and the other parameters of the system fixed, efficiency depends on the copper volume of the windings. In order to use this result to optimize the efficiency of an application, volume restrictions, the packing factor and the window utilization factor are also considered. The optimum frequency for an induction heating system is also studied in this work. An experimental verification for both planar and solenoidal cases is also presented

Desarrollo de un sistema de bajo costo para la alimentación de un perro

Hoy en día la sociedad es consciente de que los hábitos alimenticios tienen un efecto directo en la salud y es importante que la comida sea de buena calidad, a las horas apropiadas y en las cantidades adecuadas. Sin embargo, en la sociedad el problema del exceso de peso está incrementando y esta tendencia parece no tener final, siendo el 25% de la población mundial obesa. Este problema no sólo afecta a las personas, ya que en el caso de los animales los datos son incluso más preocupantes, pues el porcentaje alcanza el 50%. Como solución para este problema se ha diseñado y construido un sistema para alimentar a un perro de manera adecuada dependiendo del tamaño y la raza de la mascota. Además, el dueño no tiene que estar preocupado por estar en casa para alimentarlo o dejarle una gran cantidad de comida que el perro se come de una sola vez. Se ha diseñado un sistema automático de alimentación para perros haciendo una investigación y analizando los requerimientos del cliente para el alimentador a través de encuestas a propietarios y tiendas especializadas. Además, se han investigado las necesidades de los perros, focalizando los tamaños y razas para los cuales el sistema estaba dirigido. Posteriormente, se generaron múltiples ideas y se evaluaron las ventajas e inconvenientes de cada una. Se diseñaron las partes mecánicas y electrónicas de manera teórica basadas en cálculos y subsiguientemente se simularon. Un prototipo con el mismo concepto que el diseño teórico fue construido para entender el principio de funcionamiento de este sistema haciendo las modificaciones apropiadas a lo largo de su desarrollo. O ciclo urbano da água no Portugal romano

Em época romana a cultura da água constituiu um elemento essencial do modo de vida urbano. De facto, o desenvolvimento da engenharia hidráulica permitiu a melhoria dos abastecimentos urbanos e a disponibilidade de água em abundância para os mais diversos fins. Neste trabalho apresenta-se um panorama geral do ciclo da água nas cidades romanas do actual território português, assunto pouco investigado pela arqueologia lusa. A análise é articulada nas cinco etapas básicas que integram o ciclo urbano da água: captação, condução, distribuição, utilização e escoamento, expondo para cada uma delas os casos mais representativos. A recursive methodology for modelling multi-stranded wires with multilevel helix structure

Multi-stranded litz wires are commonly used in magnetic devices for power electronics applications at medium-high frequency range, from several kHz up to hundreds of kHz. For these applications, litz-wire structure favours the uniformity of driven current in the cross-sectional area of conductors, alleviating ac losses (skin and proximity effects) and improving the global efficiency of the application. These features are achieved by means of a special cable arrangement consisting of many isolated fine copper strands twisted together according to the manufacturing process. Often, the manufacturing process involves several twisting steps where bundles of moderate number of strands are successively twisted resulting in intricate cable structures. We present a mathematical description of the trajectories of copper strands with the purpose of obtaining the cable losses by means of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation tools. Moreover, a nomenclature for this multilevel structures is also proposed. Parameters as the number of twisting steps, number of strands, strand diameter or pitch length, are included in this representation, allowing to compare the performance of different manufacturing solutions

Analysis and Modeling of the Forces Exerted on the Cookware in Induction Heating Applications

We present a semianalytical model for calculating the forces exerted on cookware in domestic induction heating applications. The developed model is based on the Maxwell''s stress tensor and is also based on the existing semianalytic expressions of the electromagnetic fields in planar induction heating systems, which are expressed in terms of Fourier-Bessel series. Taking advantage of the axial symmetry of usual domestic induction heating systems, the flux of the vertical component of the Maxwell''s stress tensor is analytically integrated and the vertical force is obtained. The proposed model captures both eddy currents and magnetization that occurs in typical ferromagnetic cookware. The model is verified by means of two-dimensional Finite Element simulations and also is tested by means of measurements of the change of the weight experimented by cookware due to the forces during the heating process
