The objective this paper is determine the highest performance of fresh mass and number of fruits in tomato crops using different nutrient solution. An absolute hybrid with a semi-determined growth was used. It was grown in a protected environment using a fertigated substrate inside plastic bags containing ten liters of solution. The experiment was completely randomized with four levels of fertilization and five replications. Two experiments were carried out in two cultivation cycles (spring 2018 and autumn 2019) by performing an analysis of variance and Scott & Knott test and estimating the parameters of nonlinear logistic model and its critical points for both variables in each treatment. The mean fruit mass per plant was 3.70 kg for the spring experiment and 3.80 kg for the autumn experiment. The mean number of fruits per plant was 10.50 and 10.70 fruits for spring and autumn, respectively. There are significant differences between the treatments KO46, KO45 and KO56 compared to KO69 for fruit mass in the autumn experiment. For the other variables and cultivation cycles, the treatments did not show statistical differences. The logistic growth model fitted the weight and number of tomato fruits according to days after transplanting the seedlings and evidenced production cycle data, highlighting the main differences between the nutrient solutions. The nutritional solutions KO46, KO45 and KO56 are recommended for growing Gaúcho tomatoes in substrate. The nutrient solution KO56 has the best performance because it has a higher K availability, meets the balance of loads and antagonism between nutrients, provides equal response of means mass and number of fruits, and has a lower N:K ratio and balance of K over Ca and Mg, thus favoring fruit production, precocity, and development. The objective this paper is determine the highest performance of fresh mass and number of fruits in tomato crops using different nutrient solution. Carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii has reached extremely high levels worldwide and class D OXA-type carbapenemases are the main associated mechanism. The aim of this study was to evaluate the phenotypic and molecular profile of clinical carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii (CRAb) isolates from a southern Brazilian border region. A. baumannii species was identified by the presence of the blaOXA-51 gene and the susceptibility profile was determined by broth microdilution. The main carbapenemases were investigated by PCR and the typing of the CRAb isolates was performed by PFGE. During the study period, a total of 36 CRAb were recovered, 71.4% from respiratory tract samples from ICU patients. High level resistance to aminoglycosides and fluroquinolones were found in contrast to polymyxin B, for which all of CRAb were susceptible. The blaOXA-23 gene was present in 34 isolates and was the only one detected other than blaOXA-51. Molecular typing revealed the presence of four clonal strains, two of them endemic throughout the study period. To the best of our knowledge, our study brings the first data about resistance profile in Acinetobacter in the western border of south of Brazil and make aware of endemic clones of CRAb-producing-OXA-23 in this region of state, contributing for the construction of the national epidemiologic scenario of CRAb

The objective of this work were to evaluate the population dynamics of the rice stem bug (Tibraca limbativentris) around and in flood irrigated rice cultivation area, to quantify the insect population flow between crops and host plants, and to determine the effect of the species, the diameter of the plant, and the distance of the host plant from the border on the rice stem bug population. The work was conducted in the 2012/2013 harvest and in the off-season, with sampling of rice, Andropogom bicornis, and Andropogon lateralis plants in six cultivated areas, in order to count the number of insects. The population density of the rice stem bug in irrigated rice and alternative host plants presents spatial and temporal dependence. In the cultivated areas, the population density of the rice stem bug increases according to the evolution of the rice phenological stages, with the highest densities concentrated in regions close to the crop borders. The diameter and species of the host plant affect the rice stem bug population. Andropogon bicornis plants have higher population densities than A. lateralis, and plants with larger diameters show higher population densities of the rice stem bug. In the off-season, the greatest population of the rice stem bug on host plants is concentrated up to 45 m from the crop border, but it can disperse until 150 m.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic performance of organic lettuce crop, under different levels of shading, planting times, and tillage, in the state of Acre, Brazil. For each lettuce cultivar evaluated, smooth (Baba de Verão) and curly (Vera), four experiments were established in environments with different levels of shading (greenhouse, 35%; screen, 50%; passion fruit trellis, 52%; and in full sun), in two growing seasons (dry and rainy). A randomized complete block design was used, with three tillage methods (no‑tillage, minimum tillage, and conventional tillage) and four replicates. Cultivation in greenhouse provides higher fresh matter mass and yield of 'Vera' lettuce, and similar performance to that observed under screen shade with minimum soil tillage, for both planting dates evaluated. Cultivation in full sun, under no‑tillage, provides higher fresh matter mass and yield of 'Vera' lettuce during the dry season. Shoot dry matter mass of the Baba de Verão and Vera cultivars is higher in cultivation in greenhouse, followed by cultivation under screen shade
