Cationic ordering control of magnetization in Sr2FeMoO6 double perovskite

The role of the synthesis conditions on the cationic Fe/Mo ordering in Sr2FeMoO6 double perovskite is addressed. It is shown that this ordering can be controlled and varied systematically. The Fe/Mo ordering has a profound impact on the saturation magnetization of the material. Using the appropriate synthesis protocol a record value of 3.7muB/f.u. has been obtained. Mossbauer analysis reveals the existence of two distinguishable Fe sites in agreement with the P4/mmm symmetry and a charge density at the Fe(m+) ions significantly larger than (+3) suggesting a Fe contribution to the spin-down conduction band. The implications of these findings for the synthesis of Sr2FeMoO6 having optimal magnetoresistance response are discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

Diffeomorphisms, Noether Charges and Canonical Formalism in 2D Dilaton Gravity

We carry out a parallel study of the covariant phase space and the conservation laws of local symmetries in two-dimensional dilaton gravity. Our analysis is based on the fact that the Lagrangian can be brought to a form that vanishes on-shell giving rise to a well-defined covariant potential for the symplectic current. We explicitly compute the symplectic structure and its potential and show that the requirement to be finite and independent of the Cauchy surface restricts the asymptotic symmetries.Comment: 14 pages, latex with psfig macro, one figur

A strong trend for quantum based technologies and applications follows the avenue of combining different platforms to exploit their complementary technological and functional advantages. Micro and nano-mechanical devices are particularly suitable for hybrid integration due to the easiness of fabrication at multi-scales and their pervasive coupling with electrons and photons. Here, we report on a nanomechanical technological platform where a silicon chip is combined with an aluminum nitride layer. Exploiting the AlN piezoelectricity, Surface Acoustic Waves are injected in the Si layer where the material has been localy patterned and etched to form a suspended nanostring. Characterizing the nanostring vertical displacement induced by the SAW, we found an external excitation peak efficiency in excess of 500 pm/V at 1 GHz mechanical frequency. Exploiting the long term expertise in silicon photonic and electronic devices as well as the SAW robustness and versatility, our technological platform represents a strong candidate for hybrid quantum systems

State prediction of an entropy wave advecting through a turbulent channel flow

Survival of entropy waves during their advection throughout a combustor is central to the generation of entropic sound and the subsequent effects upon thermoacoustic stability of the system. However, the decay and spatial non-uniformity of entropy waves are largely ignored by the existing models used for the calculation of entropy noise generation. Recent investigations have demonstrated the complex spatio-temporal dynamics of entropy waves and cast doubts on the sufficiency of the one-dimensional approach, conventionally used for the analysis of these waves. Hence, this paper proposes a novel approach to the low-order modelling of entropy wave evolution wherein the wave is described by the two states of position and amplitude in the streamwise direction. A high-order model is first developed through direct numerical simulation of the advection of entropy waves in a fully developed, heat transferring, compressible, turbulent channel flow. The data are then utilised to build and validate a series of nonlinear, low-order models that provide an unsteady two-dimensional representation of the decaying and partially annihilating entropy waves. It is shown that these models need, at most, approximately of the total trace of entropy wave advection to predict the wave dynamics accurately. The results further reveal that the existing linear low-order models are truly predictive only for the entropy waves with less than increase in the gas temperature compared to that of the surrounding flow. Yet, in agreement with the assumption of existing models, it is shown that entropy waves travel with the mean flow speed

Le défigement linguistique comme recours stylistique, et les écueils traductologiques induits de l’espagnol vers le français

The man\u27s gaze transcends reality to so often cosmetic purposes. Referring to literature, here we will only tackle the part of the narrative creation which are the metaphorical interpretation and its derivatives to linger over this other type of diversion realized by the language de-fossilization in its phraseology and lexical applications, leading to many puns. The translator must accommodate to this sign of discursive freedom of authors, establishing semantic and semiotic relations of collusion between the source language and the target language. This is what we will develop on the basis of about ten illustrations from Hispanic literature. For each case, we will emphasize the intuitive logic of the original find, to propose its transfer in French, pointing that through a translatological "intuitivo-cognitive" posture, the translator can develop his very own creativity, a true wager of literary faithfulness
