ChPT parameters from tau-decay data
Using the updated ALEPH V-A spectral function from tau decays, we determine
the lowest spectral moments of the left-right correlator and extract dynamical
information on order parameters of the QCD chiral symmetry breaking.
Uncertainties associated with violations of quark-hadron duality are estimated
from the data, imposing all known short-distance constraints on a
resonance-based parametrization. Employing proper pinched weight functions, we
obtain an accurate determination of the effective chiral couplings L10 and C87
and the dimension-six and -eight contributions in the Operator Product
Expansion.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, QCD2015 Montpellie
Inner and outer star forming regions over the disks of spiral galaxies. I. Sample characterization
Context. The knowledge of abundance distributions is central to understanding
the formation and evolution of galaxies. Most of the relations employed for the
derivation of gas abundances have so far been derived from observations of
outer disk HII regions, despite the known differences between inner and outer
regions. Aims. Using integral field spectroscopy (IFS) observations we aim to
perform a systematic study and comparison of two inner and outer HII regions
samples. The spatial resolution of the IFS, the number of objects and the
homogeneity and coherence of the observations allow a complete characterization
of the main observational properties and differences of the regions. Methods.
We analyzed a sample of 725 inner HII regions and a sample of 671 outer HII
regions, all of them detected and extracted from the observations of a sample
of 263 nearby, isolated, spiral galaxies observed by the CALIFA survey.
Results. We find that inner HII regions show smaller equivalent widths, greater
extinction and luminosities, along with greater values of
[NII]{\lambda}6583/H{\alpha} and [OII]{\lambda}3727/[OIII]{\lambda}5007
emission-line ratios, indicating higher metallicites and lower ionization
parameters. Inner regions have also redder colors and higher photometric and
ionizing masses, although Mion/Mphot is slighty higher for the outer regions.
Conclusions. This work shows important observational differences between inner
and outer HII regions in star forming galaxies not previously studied in
detail. These differences indicate that inner regions have more evolved stellar
populations and are in a later evolution state with respect to outer regions,
which goes in line with the inside-out galaxy formation paradigm.Comment: 16 page
Bluetongue (BT) is a worldwide spread disease affecting ruminants, which is transmitted by the biting of female midges from the Genus Culicoides. Traditionally, this disease has been linked with the presence of the midge Culicoides imicola, but, recent studies have suggested the possibility of other midge species being involved in the transmission of Bluetongue in cooler regions. By applying the geographic information system ARCGIS 9.2 (ESRI®), the distribution of the main Culicoides species involved in Blue Tongue transmission in Europe and the North of Africa and the distribution of BT serotypes in the same region has been represented. The analysis of the maps obtained shows that Culicoides imicola is involved in the transmission of Bluetongue serotypes 1, 2, 4, 9 and 16 and the Obsoletus complex could be able to transmit, besides BTV-8, other BT serotypes with which it has never been in contact so far
The application of newspaper archives to the study of slope instabilities in Asturias has several methodological limitations. Sorne of them are the low frequency of news refering to slope instability and the publication of only those affecting people and infrastructures without a scientifical data collection. Nevertheless, the analysis of the information about 209 news in the period 198094 has evidenced its utility in showing the spatiallocation of instabilities in the Central Coal Basin, and giving an approach to its impact over infrastructures. It is also worth to point out the possibility of using these archives as chronological instability records. This has allowed the establishment of an approach to the temporal relationships between rainfal1 and instability events for the studied interval
Comprehensive transient-state study for CARMENES-NIR high thermal stability
CARMENES has been proposed as a next-generation instrument for the 3.5m Calar
Alto Telescope. Its objective is finding habitable exoplanets around M dwarfs
through radial velocity measurements (m/s level) in the near-infrared.
Consequently, the NIR spectrograph is highly constraint regarding
thermal/mechanical requirements. As a first approach, the thermal stability has
been limited to \pm 0.01K (within year period) over a working temperature of
243K. This can be achieved by means of several temperature-controlled rooms.
The options considered to minimise the complexity of the thermal design are
here presented, as well as the transient-state thermal analyses realised to
make the best choice
Genome-wide association study for feed efficiency in collective cage-raised rabbits under full and restricted feeding
Feed efficiency (FE) is one of the most economically and environmentally relevant traits in the animal production sector. The objective of this study was to gain knowledge about the genetic control of FE in rabbits. To this end, GWASs were conducted for individual growth under two feeding regimes (full feeding and restricted) and FE traits collected from cage groups, using 114 604 autosome SNPs segregating in 438 rabbits. Two different models were implemented: (1) an animal model with a linear regression on each SNP allele for growth trait; and (2) a two‐trait animal model, jointly fitting the performance trait and each SNP allele content, for FE traits. This last modeling strategy is a new tool applied to GWAS and allows information to be considered from non‐genotyped individuals whose contribution is relevant in the group average traits. A total of 189 SNPs in 17 chromosomal regions were declared to be significantly associated with any of the five analyzed traits at a chromosome‐wide level. In 12 of these regions, 20 candidate genes were proposed to explain the variation of the analyzed traits, including genes such as FTO, NDUFAF6 and CEBPA previously associated with growth and FE traits in monogastric species. Candidate genes associated with behavioral patterns were also identified. Overall, our results can be considered as the foundation for future functional research to unravel the actual causal mutations regulating growth and FE in rabbits.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

This paper analyses, using a statistical methodology, the possible impact that different factors from the economic, financial and legal environment could have on the volume and casuistry of banking complaints, which Banco de España has transacted during the last decade, from 1988 to 1997. Following an introduction that makes stand out the customer’s increasing importance in banking negotiation, we study specifically the influence of the inflation, the low interest rates and the recent legislation about transparency in banking and customer’s protection
