Traveling waves in one-dimensional nonlinear models of strain-limiting viscoelasticity
In this article we investigate traveling wave solutions of a nonlinear
differential equation describing the behaviour of one-dimensional viscoelastic
medium with implicit constitutive relations. We focus on a subclass of such
models known as the strain-limiting models introduced by Rajagopal. To describe
the response of viscoelastic solids we assume a nonlinear relationship among
the linearized strain, the strain rate and the Cauchy stress. We then
concentrate on traveling wave solutions that correspond to the heteroclinic
connections between the two constant states. We establish conditions for the
existence of such solutions, and find those solutions, explicitly, implicitly
or numerically, for various forms of the nonlinear constitutive relation
Farm-Level Feed Demand in Turkey
Using farm-level survey data from Turkey, the authors provide estimates of the price responsiveness of feed demand beef, dairy, and sheep producers. In addition, the authors assess the impact of feed quality on animal yields in the Turkish dairy cattle sector
Self-cannibalism: The man who eats himself
Self-mutilation is a general term for a variety of forms of intentional self-harm without the wish to die. Although there have been many reports of self-mutilation injuries in the literature, none have reported self-cannibalism after self-mutilation. In this article we present a patient with selfcannibalism following self-mutilation. A 34-year-old male patient was brought to the emergency department from the prison with a laceration on the right leg. Physical examination revealed a well-demarcated rectangular soft tissue defect on his right thigh. The prison authorities stated that the prisoner had cut his thigh with a knife and had eaten the flesh

Deindustrialization in cities of the global south
Recent research by economists has shown that deindustrialization is more severe in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America than it ever was in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Nevertheless, most research on deindustrialization is focused on the former centres of Fordist manufacturing in the industrial heartlands of the North Atlantic. In short, there is a mismatch between where deindustrialization is researched and where it is occurring, and the objective of this paper is to shift the geographical focus of research on deindustrialization to the Global South. Case studies from Argentina, India, Tanzania and Turkey demonstrate the variegated nature of deindustrialization beyond the North Atlantic. In the process, it is demonstrated that cities in the Global South can inform wider theoretical discussions on the impacts of deindustrialization at the urban scale
Crystal and molecular structure of the yellow form of chloro(2,2': 6', 2¨-terpyridine) platinum (II) chloride dihydrate, [Pt(terpy)Cl]Cl·2H2O
The synthesis, characterization, and X-ray crystal structure of the yellow dimorph, [Pt(terpy)Cl]Cl·2H2O, are reported. The yellow acicular crystals are monoclinic: space group P21/n, a = 6.908(3) Å, b = 17.06700(11) Å, c = 13. 8390(10) Å, ß = 98.607(4)°, and Dcalc =2.204 Mg m-3 for Z = 4. The cation consists of platinum coordinated to tridentate terpyridine ligand and to chloride ion. The coordination geometry is essentially square-planar with distortions arising from the constraints of the terpyridine ligand. Bond distances are within the acceptable limits of predicted values. The cations stack in a head-to-tail orientation with an intermolecular Pt-Pt distance of 3.39 Å
