An elementary introduction to Maldacena's AdS/CFT correspondence is given, with some emphasis in the Fefferman-Graham construction. This is based on lectures given by one of us (E.A.) at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.Comment: 60 pages, additional misprints corrected, references adde

    The Dirichlet Obstruction in AdS/CFT

The obstruction for a perturbative reconstruction of the five-dimensional bulk metric starting from the four-dimensional metric at the boundary, that is, the Dirichlet problem, is computed in dimensions 6d106\leq d\leq 10 and some comments are made on its general structure and, in particular, on its relationship with the conformal anomaly, which we compute in dimension d=8d=8.Comment: 13 pages, references added (this paper supersedes hep-th/0206140, "A Note on the Bach Tensor in AdS/CFT", which has been withdrawn

The present study shows a case of canine rheumatoid arhritis. Different systems of diagnosis carried out, treatment applied, and results at short and lonq-term are reviewed. In every re-examination a complete hemogram, including proteinogram, and a synovial fluid analysis were carried out, moreover radiographs of affected joints were taken. This systematic procedure allows us to know the evolution after every treatment. After patient euthanasia, pathologic lesions of affected joints were analyzed and the clinic diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis was corroborated

A comparative study between wmms and tls for the stability analysis of the San Pedro church barrel vault by means of the finite element method

Stability of masonry constructions is highly conditioned by the geometric disposition of its elements due to its low tensile strength and great compressive mechanical properties. Under this framework, this paper attempts to evaluate the suitability of a wearable mobile mapping solution, equipped in a backpack and based on the well-known simultaneous location and mapping paradigm, for the structural diagnosis of historical constructions. To evaluate the suitability of this device, the structural analysis obtained is compared with a high precision terrestrial laser scanner, which is considered as ground truth. The Romanesque church of San Pedro (Becerril del Carpio, Spain) was selected as a study case. This construction, initially conceived in the XIIIth century, has experimented in the past a soil settlement promoting the leaning of the north wall, several plastic hinges in its barrel vault and a visible geometrical deformation. The comparison of both techniques was carried out at different levels: i) an evaluation of the time needed to obtain the point cloud of the church; ii) an accuracy assessment based on the comparison of a terrestrial network using artificial spheres as checkpoints and; iii) an evaluation of the discrepancies, in terms of safety factor and collapse topology, found during the advance numerical evaluation of the barrel vault by means of the finite element method. This comparison places this wearable mobile mapping solution as an interesting tool for the creation of advanced numerical simulations to evaluate the structural stability of historical constructionsJunta de Castilla y León | Ref. Glucocorticoid receptor changes its cellular location with breast cancer development.

Glucocorticoids play a major role in attenuation of the inflammatory response and they are useful in the primary combination chemotherapy of breast cancer, since in vitro studies have demonstrated an antiproliferative effect in human breast cancer cells. In contrast, it was recently shown that glucocorticoids protect against apoptotic signals evoked by cytokines, cAMP, tumour suppressors, and death genes in mammary gland epithelia. Their actions are mediated by intracellular receptor (GR) that functions as a hormone-dependent transcription factor; however, no previous studies have been focused on GR expression in different pathologies of the human breast, and the possible relationship with that of mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) and COX-2. Also, the role of these proteins on tumoral breast epithelial cells remains unclear. Therefore, we examined GR, MR and COX-2 expression by immunohistochemistry and Western blot techniques in 142 samples of human breast obtained by total or partial mastectomy. We found that the percentage of positive patients presenting nuclear immunoreaction to GR decreased with tumor development, while all samples analyzed showed cytoplasmic immunoreactions to MR. All positive samples to COX-2 antibody showed cytoplasmic location, a higher immunoreaction being observed in benign breast diseases than in carcinomatous lesions. Thus, breast cancer progression is associated with the accumulation of GR in the cytoplasm of tumoral cells and the decrease of COX-2 expression
