A redefinição da fonte jornalística na escrita de Ryszard Kapuściński

Raras vezes reflectimos sobre as relações e paralelismos existentes entre o trabalho do historiador e do jornalista. Embora os dois descrevam a realidade, as preocupações e os objectivos são bem diferentes. O que une os dois campos de actividade humana é a dependência da fonte, como condicionante de qualquer trabalho jornalístico ou histórico. No caso do trabalho jornalístico os padrões de qualidade incluem também actualidade dos trabalhos produzidos, o que provoca evidentemente um stress e muitas vezes obriga a sacrificar o aprofundamento das questões. O historiador, por seu lado, não é pressionado no trabalho pela deadline quase imediata, mas muito raras vezes dispõe das fontes directas. De qualquer forma, o jornalismo como tal, fica em relação de interdependência quer com a literatura, o que já foi suficientemente comentado e estudado, quer com a história.As relações entre o jornalismo e a literatura evocam um amour impossible ou simulam um mariage forcé. Há muitos escritores que se tornaram conhecidos também no campo da imprensa, principalmente no domínio da reportagem; contudo, mais raros são jornalistas cujos trabalhos tenham também valor estético universal. As relações entre o jornalismo e a história parecem ser ainda mais problemáticas. Por outro lado parece também que, quer a literatura quer a história, privilegiam o jornalismo impresso deixando um pouco ao lado os conteúdos audiovisuais. E, talvez pela força da tradição, a imprensa escrita muitas vezes torna-se fonte do conhecimento histórico. Para um jornalista, o conhecimento histórico pode ser útil da mesma forma que qualquer conhecimento enciclopédico, ou talvez devesse ocupar um lugar privilegiado na formação jornalística, já que todos os fenómenos sociais e políticos têm a sua génese e explicação histórica

O podręcznikowej (homo)seksualności w kontekście polskim – od paniki moralnej do wojny kulturowej

In this article, the new regulation of intimacy and a cultural war became the context of analysis for homosexuality, which is present in textbooks for upbringing to life in the family. Over the last dozen or so years, homosexuality issues have occurred in this group of textbooks in a diverse context and form. Homosexuality was called, among others, sexual atypicalness, a disorder located alongside fragments about persuading minors to sexual contact, a “direction” setting a road from which young people can turn back or – only in the last versions of the textbook – sexual orientation. The context for introducing changes became in the text of the clash between the entities guarding the “old” order and supporters of its change, opposing the normative and obligatory character of heterosexual behaviour.W niniejszym opracowaniu nowy sposób regulowania intymności oraz wojna kulturowa stały się kontekstem analiz dla obecnej w podręcznikach do zajęć z zakresu wychowania do życia w rodzinie homoseksualności. Na przestrzeni ostatnich kilkunastu lat kwestie dotyczące homoseksualizmu występowały w tej grupie podręczników w zróżnicowanym kontekście i postaci. Homoseksualizm nazywano m.in. nietypowością seksualną, zaburzeniem, „kierunkiem” wyznaczającym drogę, z której młodzi ludzie mogą zawrócić czy – dopiero w ostatnich wersjach podręcznika – orientacją seksualną. Kontekstem dla wprowadzania zmian stały się opisane w pracy starcia pomiędzy podmiotami strzegącymi „starego” porządku a zwolennikami jego zmiany, sprzeciwiającymi się normatywnemu i obowiązkowemu charakterowi zachowań heteroseksualnych

Obywatelska postawa Wincentego Ignacego Marewicza i jej biograficzne konteksty. „Ofiara dla Ojczyzny… roku 1792, maja dnia 14 w Wilnie”

Wincenty Ignacy Marewicz (1755–1822) – a little-known writer of the Polish Enlightenment with a rich and varied legacy. His works and biography are still not fully studied. The material presented here is a critical study with an introduction. It is a copy of the civic sacrifice made by Marewicz and recorded in the Vilnius Civil and Military Commission at a time when the homeland, threatened by war with Russia, was facing mortal danger. The writer published it in a separate print and sent it to Stanisław August, as we know from his letter to the ruler dated 31 May 1792.Undoubtedly, Ofiara dla Ojczyzny is evidence of Wincenty Marewicz’s patriotism, his civic responsibility and devotion. It is at the same time a somewhat untypical readiness to provide for the motherland’s vital needs, as it reveals the whereabouts of a “skinny writer”, who is at the same time an impoverished nobleman, honesty, reluctance to cover up difficult economic and financial matters. The text also includes a number of other constant elements of Marewicz’s attitude, visible in his stricte literary activities. Ofiara dla Ojczyzny is a public, and at the same time deeply personal, document, which is worth commemorating.Wincenty Ignacy Marewicz (1755–1822) – mało znany pisarz polskiego oświecenia o bogatym i różnorodnym dorobku. Jego twórczość i biografia wciąż nie są jeszcze w pełni rozpoznane. Prezentowany materiał ma charakter opracowania edytorskiego ze wstępem. Jest to kopia ofiary obywatelskiej, złożonej przez Marewicza i zapisanej w Komisji Cywilno-Wojskowej wileńskiej w czasie, gdy ojczyzna, zagrożona wojną z Rosją, znalazła się w obliczu śmiertelnego niebezpieczeństwa. Pisarz opublikował ją w postaci osobnego druku i przesłał Stanisławowi Augustowi, o czym wiemy z jego listu do władcy z 31 maja 1792 roku. Niewątpliwie Ofiara dla Ojczyzny świadczy o patriotyzmie Wincentego Marewicza, jego odpowiedzialności obywatelskiej i poświęceniu. Jest to zarazem dość nietypowa gotowość zasilenia istotnych potrzeb dla ojczyzny. Odsłania się w niej bowiem los „chudego literata”, a zarazem ubogiego szlachcica, szczerość, nieukrywanie trudnych spraw majątkowych oraz finansowych. W tekście można także dostrzec szereg innych stałych elementów postawy Marewicza, widocznych w jego twórczości stricte literackiej. Ofiara dla Ojczyzny jest publicznym i jednocześnie głęboko osobistym dokumentem godnym upamiętnienia

Filozofia Carla Schmitta i jej wędrówki po młodej polskiej demokracji.

Transformacje ustrojowe krajów dawnego ZSRR wywołały falę przemian w sposobie patrzenia na rolę państwa i władzy w sferze publicznej. Wraz ze zmianami w perspektywach oferowanych przez środowiska intelektualne czy opiniotwórcze, zmieniły się również odgrywane przez nie role społeczne, czego oznaką jest pojawienie się rozproszonych tłumaczy czyli, idąc za Baumanem, postaci zajmujących się wyjaśnianiem nowej rzeczywistości przy pomocy pozalokalnych interpretacji. Jedną z postaci, która zyskała dzięki tym przekładom uznanie i ustanowiła nowy punkt ciężkości w debacie publicznej od lat 90. począwszy był niemiecki teoretyk prawa i politolog – Carl Schmitt. W niniejszym artykule filozofia Schmitta będzie traktowana jako tzw. wędrująca teoria , czyli taka, która nie jest poddawana, potocznie pojmowanej recepcji dzieła , lecz stanowi rekontekstualizowany obiekt sporu i negocjacji w środowisku pozaźródłowym, które w tym przypadku stanowi Polska – kraj uznawany za modelową młodą demokrację i podążający za metanarracją liberalno-demokratyczną. Poddana próbie analizy z perspektywy tzw. zwrotu translacyjnego zostanie literatura przedmiotu dotycząca Schmitta i wybranych odczytań jego myśli, a także sposób, w jaki te interpretacje współtworzą ogólniejszy rezerwuar symboliczny

Speech intelligibility in multilingual spaces

This thesis examines speech intelligibility and multi-lingual communication, in terms of acoustics and perceptual factors. More specifically, the work focused on the impact of room acoustic conditions on the speech intelligibility of four languages representative of a wide range of linguistic properties (English, Polish, Arabic and Mandarin). Firstly, diagnostic rhyme tests (DRT), phonemically balanced (PB) word lists and phonemically balanced sentence lists have been compared under four room acoustic conditions defined by their speech transmission index (STI = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8). The results obtained indicated that there was a statistically significant difference between the word intelligibility scores of languages under all room acoustic conditions, apart from the STI = 0.8 condition. English was the most intelligible language under all conditions, and differences with other languages were larger when conditions were poor (maximum difference of 29% at STI = 0.2, 33% at STI = 0.4 and 14% at STI = 0.6). Results also showed that Arabic and Polish were particularly sensitive to background noise, and that Mandarin was significantly more intelligible than those languages at STI = 0.4. Consonant-to-vowel ratios and languages’ distinctive features and acoustical properties explained some of the scores obtained. Sentence intelligibility scores confirmed variations between languages, but these variations were statistically significant only at the STI = 0.4 condition (sentence tests being less sensitive to very good and very poor room acoustic conditions). Additionally, perceived speech intelligibility and soundscape perception associated to these languages was also analysed in three multi-lingual environments: an airport check-in area, a hospital reception area, and a café. Semantic differential analysis showed that perceived speech intelligibility of each language varies with the type of environment, as well as the type of background noise, reverberation time, and signal-to-noise ratio. Variations between the perceived speech intelligibility of the four languages were only marginally significant (p = 0.051), unlike objective intelligibility results. Perceived speech intelligibility of English appeared to be mostly affected negatively by the information content and distracting sounds present in the background noise. Lastly, the study investigated several standards and design guidelines and showed how adjustments could be made to recommended STI values in order to achieve consistent speech intelligibility ratings across languages
