Kakva je naša onlajn interakcija? Jedan pristup za proučavanje multidimenzionalnosti onlajn komunikacije

If different dimensions of online interaction are neglected and/or unknowingly combined in a research study there is a risk of misleading results due to compensatory effect. With respect to the multidimensionality of online interaction, two substantially different types of online communication are defined - procreative and transmissional. The procreative online communication is understood as a person's tendency to use the internet as a space for social interaction, which essentially differs from using the internet transmissionally, as a peer-to-peer communication channel between people who are familiar with one another. The aim of this paper is to explore more deeply the procreative dimensions of online communication. Based on our conceptual framework, we defined three procreativity dimensions and developed an Online Procreativity Scale (OPS) to measure them. The OPS has been validated through EFA and CFA and the three-dimensional structure has been confirmed. Using the OLS regression analyses we found that gender and psychological characteristics and social network sites (SNS) use have diverse influence depending on the procreativity dimension under observation. Gender, city size, share of unfamiliar SNS friends and loneliness predicted willingness to interact with strangers, while the time spent on SNS predicted only the tendency to participate in public online interaction.

Social networking sites provide a virtual platform for socialization, interaction, and entertainment. The overuse of social networking sites has become a global phenomenon, especially among young generations. The purpose of this study is to investigate the addiction elements of social networking sites and the impact of such an addiction on online self-disclosure. Additionally, the moderation effect of openness and extraversion was also analysed. Data from university students in Pakistan was gathered online using the Google survey application. In total 290 samples were gathered and examined. SPSS and AMOS software programmes were used to analyse data. Findings confirmed that young generations tend to have greater online self-disclosure due to social networking sites addiction. Both moderation results also showed a significant relationship between social networking sites addiction and online self-disclosure. The results of the current study are also used as a guideline for making policies related to social networking sites addiction

Does Self-Disclosure on Social Networking Sites Enhance Well-Being? The Role of Social Anxiety, Online Disinhibition, and Psychological Stress

Get PDF
The proliferation of social networking sites (SNSs) has drawn attention to different parties in realizing their goals. Advertisers utilize SNSs to promote new products and services; politics optimize SNSs to gather support from the public, while ordinary users use SNSs as a unique platform to practice self-disclosure, develop networks, and sustain relationships. This study explores how social anxiety affects self-disclosure on SNSs and well-being. It also examines the moderating effects of two contextual factors, namely, online disinhibition and psychological stress. Two hundred and thirty-four valid responses were collected via an online survey. A positive relationship between social anxiety and self-disclosure, and self-disclosure and well-being was found. Furthermore, a positive moderation effect among social anxiety, online disinhibition, and self-disclosure was revealed. This research contributes to the development of social networking literature. It also enhances the understanding of disclosure patterns on SNSs among socially anxious individuals, thereby providing important insights for practitioners, educators, and clinicians

τέλος, η εφαρμογή προγραμμάτων κοινωνικής και συναισθηματικής αγωγής στο σχολείο, θα διαμορφώσει ένα πλαίσιο ενίσχυσης των προσωπικών και διαπροσωπικών δεξιοτήτων των μαθητών.during adolescence the person invests in new faces and environments, creating friendly relationships. the way in which the concept of friendship is perceived makes it a predictive indicator of the teenager's multi-layered development and relates to the early experiences he has developed with his parents. in addition, the teenager's social investment can also take place through social networks, which in recent years have been a new framework for interaction between adolescents. this survey examines quantitative data from a sample of 663 High School students aged 11 to 14 years (m = 13.81, s.d. = 10.83). for friendship the mcgill friendship questionnaire questionnaire-friend's functions (mendelson & aboud, 1999) was granted and for maternal and paternal parenthood the embu-c scale 'egna minnen betraffande uppfostran', 'memories of my upbringing' was granted. two improvised questionnaires were used to collect information on the internet and demographics. the results showed that girls report higher levels of quality friendship than boys. the perception of parental warmth by adolescents is associated with positive perceptions of friendship, while the sense of parental rejection is associated with low levels of perception of its quality. social networks are not a key criterion for building a quality friendship but can act as a means of strengthening it. adolescents' sense of parental rejection and anxiety is associated with long online use, but this time investment does not seem to be intertwined with the quality of friendship. the findings of the research show the importance of adolescents' shaped perception of their parents' behavior, as it relates to the way they build the perception of a functional friendship. parent training programs are proposed to develop emotional security and support skills, as well as strategies for managing the use of social media. finally, the implementation of social and emotional education programs at school will create a framework for strengthening students' personal and interpersonal skills

Establishment of Asynchronous Rapport with Test Administrator: A Comparison of Online and In-Person Testing Procedures

Get PDF
Rapport is often established with clients prior to psychological testing to facilitate self-disclosure and ease anxiety. Test administrators need to find ways to build rapport with clients prior to online tests. The present study examined whether asynchronous rapport, a positive relationship established without real-time interaction, could form between an online test administrator and participants. This study examined the effects of a rapport-building procedure prior to, and consistency of scores on, online and offline measures. Separated by a one-week interval, undergraduate students completed both online and paper-and-pencil versions of measures of perceived rapport, self-disclosure, social and state anxiety. Participants were randomly assigned to either an asynchronous rapport condition (an online video and in-person script presented by the test administrator to foster rapport) or no rapport condition. Results suggest that asynchronous rapport-building, online test administration, and social anxiety were related to amount of self-disclosure. Implications for online test delivery are discussed
