    Cloud engineering is search based software engineering too

    Many of the problems posed by the migration of computation to cloud platforms can be formulated and solved using techniques associated with Search Based Software Engineering (SBSE). Much of cloud software engineering involves problems of optimisation: performance, allocation, assignment and the dynamic balancing of resources to achieve pragmatic trade-offs between many competing technical and business objectives. SBSE is concerned with the application of computational search and optimisation to solve precisely these kinds of software engineering challenges. Interest in both cloud computing and SBSE has grown rapidly in the past five years, yet there has been little work on SBSE as a means of addressing cloud computing challenges. Like many computationally demanding activities, SBSE has the potential to benefit from the cloud; ‘SBSE in the cloud’. However, this paper focuses, instead, of the ways in which SBSE can benefit cloud computing. It thus develops the theme of ‘SBSE for the cloud’, formulating cloud computing challenges in ways that can be addressed using SBSE

    Reverse Engineering Heterogeneous Applications

    Nowadays a large majority of software systems are built using various technologies that in turn rely on different languages (e.g. Java, XML, SQL etc.). We call such systems heterogeneous applications (HAs). By contrast, we call software systems that are written in one language homogeneous applications. In HAs the information regarding the structure and the behaviour of the system is spread across various components and languages and the interactions between different application elements could be hidden. In this context applying existing reverse engineering and quality assurance techniques developed for homogeneous applications is not enough. These techniques have been created to measure quality or provide information about one aspect of the system and they cannot grasp the complexity of HAs. In this dissertation we present our approach to support the analysis and evolution of HAs based on: (1) a unified first-class description of HAs and, (2) a meta-model that reifies the concept of horizontal and vertical dependencies between application elements at different levels of abstraction. We implemented our approach in two tools, MooseEE and Carrack. The first is an extension of the Moose platform for software and data analysis and contains our unified meta-model for HAs. The latter is an engine to infer derived dependencies that can support the analysis of associations among the heterogeneous elements composing HA. We validate our approach and tools by case studies on industrial and open-source JEAs which demonstrate how we can handle the complexity of such applications and how we can solve problems deriving from their heterogeneous nature

    With the fast development of networks these days organizations has overflowing with the collection of millions of data with big number of combination. This big data challenges over trade troubles. It requires more analysis for the high-performance procedure. The new method of hadoop and MapReduce methods are discussed starting the data mining standpoint. In the proposed research work we have to progress performance through parallelization of different operations such as loading the information, index building and evaluating the queries. Thus the performance analysis is completed with the minimum of three nodes with in the Amazon cloud environment. Hbase is a open source, non-relational and distributed database model. It executes on the pinnacle of Hadoop. It consists of a single key with multiple values. Looping is avoid in retrieving a meticulous data from huge datasets and it consume less amount of time for execute the data. HDFS file system is used to store the data after performing arts the map reduces operations and the execution time is decreased when the amount of nodes gets increased. The performance analysis is tuned with the parameters such as the carrying out complexity

    Scalability Transformations on Declarative Applications

    Many current distributed applications are based on the exchange of XML messages. Scaling such applications to the high processing volume demanded by Internet-scale deployment typically requires costly redesign and coding. In this paper, we investigate how a declarative specification of such applications can simplify the task of deploying them on a large number of host machines. In our model, applications are represented as a graph of message queues connected by message flow rules. The state of application instances is encoded in the message history of the queues and accessed using XQuery expressions. We show how to split such an application into distributable fragments using graph partitioning and discuss different algorithms for placing the fragments on hosts. Typically, an initial application specification contains data dependencies that place an upper limit on the number of fragments, and hence the number of usable machines. We describe transformations that increase the number of possible fragments by converting data dependencies into message flow. An evaluation using the TPC-App benchmark and a runtime system prototype confirms the feasibility and performance benefits of this approach

Service orientation is emerging from the amalgamation of a number of key business, technology and cultural developments. Three essential trends in particular are coming together to create a new revolutionary breed of enterprise, the service-oriented enterprise (SOE): (1) the continuous performance management of the enterprise; (2) the emergence of business process management; and (3) advances in the standards-based service-oriented infrastructures. This thesis focuses on this emerging three-layered architecture that builds on a service-oriented architecture framework, with a process layer that brings technology and business together, and a corporate performance layer that continually monitors and improves the performance indicators of global enterprises provides a novel framework for the business context in which to apply the important technical idea of service orientation and moves it from being an interesting tool for engineers to a vehicle for business managers to fundamentally improve their businesses

    Progressive introduction of network softwarization in operational telecom networks: advances at architectural, service and transport levels

    Technological paradigms such as Software Defined Networking, Network Function Virtualization and Network Slicing are altogether offering new ways of providing services. This process is widely known as Network Softwarization, where traditional operational networks adopt capabilities and mechanisms inherit form the computing world, such as programmability, virtualization and multi-tenancy. This adoption brings a number of challenges, both from the technological and operational perspectives. On the other hand, they provide an unprecedented flexibility opening opportunities to developing new services and new ways of exploiting and consuming telecom networks. This Thesis first overviews the implications of the progressive introduction of network softwarization in operational networks for later on detail some advances at different levels, namely architectural, service and transport levels. It is done through specific exemplary use cases and evolution scenarios, with the goal of illustrating both new possibilities and existing gaps for the ongoing transition towards an advanced future mode of operation.     Structural information aided automated test method for magic 4GL

    Nowadays testing data intensive, GUI enhanced applications properly on an easily maintainable way has become a more crucial part of the application life cycle. There are many evolving technologies to support automatized GUI testing in various environments. However there are hardly any methods that support 4GLs, especially Magic. Fortunately, the characteristics of the 4th generation of programming languages - like explicit definition of the relations between GUI elements and data - eliminate most of the problems raised during testing the GUI in the case of 3GLs. By utilizing these advantages we were able to develop a generalized testing method that supports 4GLs, and as a proof of concept a system for testing Magic xpa applications was built. In this paper, a generalized testing method for 4GLs, our path and script generator algorithms, and their implementations for Magic xpa applications are presented. In addition, the cooperation of these components with existing solutions is demonstrated, and a test method that has been competed by the application of our tools (and which is an instantiation of the generalized method) is introduced as a possible use of the results
