Toward enhancement of deep learning techniques using fuzzy logic: a survey

    Get PDF
Deep learning has emerged recently as a type of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), it usually imitates the human way in gaining a particular knowledge type. Deep learning is considered an essential data science element, which comprises predictive modeling and statistics. Deep learning makes the processes of collecting, interpreting, and analyzing big data easier and faster. Deep neural networks are kind of ML models, where the non-linear processing units are layered for the purpose of extracting particular features from the inputs. Actually, the training process of similar networks is very expensive and it also depends on the used optimization method, hence optimal results may not be provided. The techniques of deep learning are also vulnerable to data noise. For these reasons, fuzzy systems are used to improve the performance of deep learning algorithms, especially in combination with neural networks. Fuzzy systems are used to improve the representation accuracy of deep learning models. This survey paper reviews some of the deep learning based fuzzy logic models and techniques that were presented and proposed in the previous studies, where fuzzy logic is used to improve deep learning performance. The approaches are divided into two categories based on how both of the samples are combined. Furthermore, the models' practicality in the actual world is revealed

An application of modified adaptive bats sonar algorithm (MABSA) on fuzzy logic controller for dc motor accuracy

Controllers are mostly used to improve the control system performance. The works related to controllers attract researchers since the controller can be applied to solve many industrial problems involving speed and position. Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) gains popularity since it is widely used in industrial application. However, the FLC structure is still lacking in terms of the accuracy and time response. Although there are optimization technique used to obtain both accuracy and time response, it is still lacking. Therefore, this research presents works on the FLC system which is the fuzzy inference system that will be optimized by the modified adaptive bats sonar algorithm (MABSA) for the DC servo motor position control. The MABSA will be optimized with the range of the membership input in the FLC. The research aims are to achieve accuracy while minimizing the time response of the DC servo motor. This is done by designing the FLC using the Matlab toolbox. After the FLC is designed completely, the Simulink block diagram for the DC servo motor and FLC are built to see the performance of the controller. The range of the membership function for inputs and outputs will be optimized by the MABSA to get the best positional values. The performance of the developed FLC with the optimized MABSA is verified through the simulation and robustness tests with the system that did not use the FLC and also the system without MABSA. It was demonstrated from the study that the proposed FLC with optimization of MABSA algorithm was able to yield an improvement of 3.8% with respect to the rise time in comparison to other control schemes evaluated. When compared with PSO algorithm, proposed FLC optimized by MABSA showed improvement by 12.5% in rise time and 10% in settling time. PSO-FLC also give 0.6% steady state error compared to the MABSA-FLC. In conclusion, the results validate the better performance in terms of rise time and settling time of the developed FLC that has been optimized by the MABSA

Smart Tourism Intermingling with Indian Spiritual Destinations: Role of e-WoM Sentiments in marketing

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to see how smart tourism and sentiments help tourists seeking spiritual experiences that are deep-rooted in ancient Indian traditions as opposed to materialistic getaways. Exploratory research through sentiments of YouTube and Tweets followers are collected in sample. A qualitative-quantitative research method is used in this paper to analyse the sentiments on Indian popular spiritual destinations. Smart tourism allows larger, coordinated efforts for Innovation, quality of life and sustainable tourism through rich data infrastructure within the ambit of specific destinations. Within a context, personalisation and real-time monitoring can occur where sentiments are positive or highly positive for that matter. Fundamental to tourists’ experiences is an aesthetic obsession with authenticity. The diversity of smart technologies applicable to experiences in the smart spiritual tourism sphere is still to be defined on a more granular level where religion still holds the glue. This paper seeks to explore the smart tourism experience concept applied to spirituality (STES) in more depth to facilitate further contributions. A smart tourism experience can be co-created for better delivery and a conducive environment for such an experience to emerge. Each spiritual destination is unique and complex. Policy responses can address the impact mainly through knowledge (human) resources

Zadeh's fuzzy set theory incorporates the impreciseness of data and evaluations, by imputting the degrees by which each object belongs to a set. Its success fostered theories that codify the subjectivity, uncertainty, imprecision, or roughness of the evaluations. Their rationale is to produce new flexible methodologies in order to model a variety of concrete decision problems more realistically. This Special Issue garners contributions addressing novel tools, techniques and methodologies for decision making (inclusive of both individual and group, single- or multi-criteria decision making) in the context of these theories. It contains 38 research articles that contribute to a variety of setups that combine fuzziness, hesitancy, roughness, covering sets, and linguistic approaches. Their ranges vary from fundamental or technical to applied approaches

Z-Numbers-Based Approach to Hotel Service Quality Assessment

In this study, we are analyzing the possibility of using Z-numbers for measuring the service quality and decision-making for quality improvement in the hotel industry. Techniques used for these purposes are based on consumer evalu- ations - expectations and perceptions. As a rule, these evaluations are expressed in crisp numbers (Likert scale) or fuzzy estimates. However, descriptions of the respondent opinions based on crisp or fuzzy numbers formalism not in all cases are relevant. The existing methods do not take into account the degree of con- fidence of respondents in their assessments. A fuzzy approach better describes the uncertainties associated with human perceptions and expectations. Linguis- tic values are more acceptable than crisp numbers. To consider the subjective natures of both service quality estimates and confidence degree in them, the two- component Z-numbers Z = (A, B) were used. Z-numbers express more adequately the opinion of consumers. The proposed and computationally efficient approach (Z-SERVQUAL, Z-IPA) allows to determine the quality of services and iden- tify the factors that required improvement and the areas for further development. The suggested method was applied to evaluate the service quality in small and medium-sized hotels in Turkey and Azerbaijan, illustrated by the example
