New methods for the estimation of Takagi-Sugeno model based extended Kalman filter and its applications to optimal control for nonlinear systems
This paper describes new approaches to improve the local and global approximation (matching) and modeling capability of Takagi–Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The main aim is obtaining high function approximation accuracy and fast convergence. The main problem encountered is that T-S identification method cannot be applied when the membership functions are overlapped by pairs. This restricts the application of the T-S method because this type of membership function has been widely used during the last 2 decades in the stability, controller design of fuzzy systems and is popular in industrial control applications. The approach developed here can be considered as a generalized version of T-S identification method with optimized performance in approximating nonlinear functions. We propose a noniterative method through weighting of parameters approach and an iterative algorithm by applying the extended Kalman filter, based on the same idea of parameters’ weighting. We show that the Kalman filter is an effective tool in the identification of T-S fuzzy model. A fuzzy controller based linear quadratic regulator is proposed in order to show the effectiveness of the estimation method developed here in control applications. An illustrative example of an inverted pendulum is chosen to evaluate the robustness and remarkable performance of the proposed method locally and globally in comparison with the original T-S model. Simulation results indicate the potential, simplicity, and generality of the algorithm. An illustrative example is chosen to evaluate the robustness. In this paper, we prove that these algorithms converge very fast, thereby making them very practical to use
The generation of dual wavelength pulse fiber laser using fiber bragg grating
A stable simple generation of dual wavelength pulse fiber laser on experimental method is proposed and demonstrated by using Figure eight circuit diagram. The generation of dual wavelength pulse fiber laser was proposed using fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) with two different central wavelengths which are 1550 nm and 1560 nm. At 600 mA (27.78 dBm) of laser diode, the stability of dual wavelength pulse fiber laser appears on 1550 nm and 1560 nm with the respective peak powers of -54.03 dBm and -58.00 dBm. The wavelength spacing of the spectrum is about 10 nm while the signal noise to ratio (SNR) for both peaks are about 8.23 dBm and 9.67 dBm. In addition, the repetition rate is 2.878 MHz with corresponding pulse spacing of about 0.5 μs, is recorded
Learning control of inverted pendulum system by neural network driven fuzzy reasoning: The learning function of NN-driven fuzzy reasoning under changes of reasoning environment
Whereas conventional fuzzy reasonings are associated with tuning problems, which are lack of membership functions and inference rule designs, a neural network driven fuzzy reasoning (NDF) capable of determining membership functions by neural network is formulated. In the antecedent parts of the neural network driven fuzzy reasoning, the optimum membership function is determined by a neural network, while in the consequent parts, an amount of control for each rule is determined by other plural neural networks. By introducing an algorithm of neural network driven fuzzy reasoning, inference rules for making a pendulum stand up from its lowest suspended point are determined for verifying the usefulness of the algorithm
Active fault tolerant control for nonlinear systems with simultaneous actuator and sensor faults
The goal of this paper is to describe a novel fault tolerant tracking control (FTTC) strategy based on robust fault estimation and compensation of simultaneous actuator and sensor faults. Within the framework of fault tolerant control (FTC) the challenge is to develop an FTTC design strategy for nonlinear systems to tolerate simultaneous actuator and sensor faults that have bounded first time derivatives. The main contribution of this paper is the proposal of a new architecture based on a combination of actuator and sensor Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) proportional state estimators augmented with proportional and integral feedback (PPI) fault estimators together with a T-S dynamic output feedback control (TSDOFC) capable of time-varying reference tracking. Within this architecture the design freedom for each of the T-S estimators and the control system are available separately with an important consequence on robust L₂ norm fault estimation and robust L₂ norm closed-loop tracking performance. The FTTC strategy is illustrated using a nonlinear inverted pendulum example with time-varying tracking of a moving linear position reference. Keyword
Composite Learning Control With Application to Inverted Pendulums
Composite adaptive control (CAC) that integrates direct and indirect adaptive
control techniques can achieve smaller tracking errors and faster parameter
convergence compared with direct and indirect adaptive control techniques.
However, the condition of persistent excitation (PE) still has to be satisfied
to guarantee parameter convergence in CAC. This paper proposes a novel model
reference composite learning control (MRCLC) strategy for a class of affine
nonlinear systems with parametric uncertainties to guarantee parameter
convergence without the PE condition. In the composite learning, an integral
during a moving-time window is utilized to construct a prediction error, a
linear filter is applied to alleviate the derivation of plant states, and both
the tracking error and the prediction error are applied to update parametric
estimates. It is proven that the closed-loop system achieves global
exponential-like stability under interval excitation rather than PE of
regression functions. The effectiveness of the proposed MRCLC has been verified
by the application to an inverted pendulum control problem.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, conference submissio
Variable structure control with chattering reduction of a generalized T-S model
In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based variable structure control (VSC) is presented. The main objective is to obtain an improved performance of highly non-linear unstable systems. New functions for chattering reduction and error convergence without sacrificing invariant properties are proposed. The main feature of the proposed method is that the switching function is added as an additional fuzzy variable and will be introduced in the premise part of the fuzzy rules; together with the
state variables.
In this work, a tuning of the well known weighting parameters approach is proposed to optimize local and global
approximation and modelling capability of the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model to improve the choice of the performance index and minimize it. The main problem encountered is that the T-S identification method can not be applied when the membership functions are overlapped by pairs. This in turn restricts the application of the T-S method because this type of membership function has been widely used in control applications. The approach developed here can be considered as a generalized version of the T-S method. An inverted pendulum mounted on a cart is chosen to evaluate the robustness, effectiveness, accuracy and remarkable performance of the proposed estimation approach in comparison with the original T-S model. Simulation results
indicate the potential, simplicity and generality of the estimation method and the robustness of the chattering reduction algorithm.
In this paper, we prove that the proposed estimation algorithm converge the very fast, thereby making it very practical to use. The application of the proposed FLC-VSC shows that both alleviation of chattering and robust performance are achieved
