Under the theme of transformation through physical and non-physical travel, this article explores known and unknown worlds, and real, imagined, and virtual spaces, through collaborative art and performative writing practices. The weaving of real stories and aspirations, and the notion of the journey that extends beyond or breaks through cultural boundaries and stories of personal transformation are themes that are explored in particular. The article further explores virtual worlds as spaces of and for the imagination, where the entanglement of the physical with the virtual is exploited for its creative potential. In particular, there are opportunities to further explore our understanding of the transforming act of virtual and imagined travel through an exploration of the experience of time, space and place

The National Centre for Culture is conducting a foresight research project on the impact of emerging technologies on the arts. The article presents the first findings brought by the analysis of opportunities created by the development of virtual spaces accessible to artists and the public – which are expected to create the Metaverse and promote a new form of ownership, NFT. The text is dedicated to the potential of new tools and media – the positive side of the interface between modern technologies and art. The article offers definitions of the Metaverse, NFT and digital art. Apparently, these elements of social (and technological) reality not only overlap, but also complement each other. The text attempts to answer the question of what potential the next phase of digital transformation brings for visual artists. Tekst poświęcony został potencjałowi nowych narzędzi i mediów, a więc pozytywnym aspektom styku najnowszych technologii i sztuki.

Playful mapping in the digital age:The Playful Mapping Collective

From Mah-Jong, to the introduction of Prussian war-games, through to the emergence of location-based play: maps and play share a long and diverse history. This monograph shows how mapping and playing unfold in the digital age, when the relations between these apparently separate tropes are increasingly woven together. Fluid networks of interaction have encouraged a proliferation of hybrid forms of mapping and playing and a rich plethora of contemporary case-studies, ranging from fieldwork, golf, activism and automotive navigation, to pervasive and desktop-based games evidences this trend. Examining these cases shows how mapping and playing can form productive synergies, but also encourages new ways of being, knowing and shaping our everyday lives. The chapters in this book explore how play can be more than just an object or practice, and instead focus on its potential as a method for understanding maps and spatiality. They show how playing and mapping can be liberating, dangerous, subversive and performative
