    Anti-social behavior detection in audio-visual surveillance systems

    In this paper we propose a general purpose framework for detection of unusual events. The proposed system is based on the unsupervised method for unusual scene detection in web{cam images that was introduced in [1]. We extend their algorithm to accommodate data from different modalities and introduce the concept of time-space blocks. In addition, we evaluate early and late fusion techniques for our audio-visual data features. The experimental results on 192 hours of data show that data fusion of audio and video outperforms using a single modality

Приведено функції приналежності, що характеризують процес прийняття рішень в підсистемі “керівництво шахти – група високонавантажених лав”. Розроблено схему нечіткого регулювання підсистеми “бригадир (диспетчер) – ланка гірників” у комбайновій лаві, показані переваги такої схеми.     MAT: A Multimodal Attentive Translator for Image Captioning

    In this work we formulate the problem of image captioning as a multimodal translation task. Analogous to machine translation, we present a sequence-to-sequence recurrent neural networks (RNN) model for image caption generation. Different from most existing work where the whole image is represented by convolutional neural network (CNN) feature, we propose to represent the input image as a sequence of detected objects which feeds as the source sequence of the RNN model. In this way, the sequential representation of an image can be naturally translated to a sequence of words, as the target sequence of the RNN model. To represent the image in a sequential way, we extract the objects features in the image and arrange them in a order using convolutional neural networks. To further leverage the visual information from the encoded objects, a sequential attention layer is introduced to selectively attend to the objects that are related to generate corresponding words in the sentences. Extensive experiments are conducted to validate the proposed approach on popular benchmark dataset, i.e., MS COCO, and the proposed model surpasses the state-of-the-art methods in all metrics following the dataset splits of previous work. The proposed approach is also evaluated by the evaluation server of MS COCO captioning challenge, and achieves very competitive results, e.g., a CIDEr of 1.029 (c5) and 1.064 (c40)

Показана необходимость участия при проектировании полигона специалистов различных наук о Земле. Особое внимание уделено качественной закладке центров геодезических пунктов и их оптимальному расположению, а также методике высокоточных геодезических измерений и математической обработке результатов этих измерений.=Article is devoted to the organization of the classical geodynamic ground in the territory subject to interdependent influence of tectonic and anthropogenic factors. Need of participation at projection of the ground of experts of various sciences about Earth is shown. The special attention is given to qualitative laying of the centers of geodetic points and their optimum arrangement, and also a technique of high-precision geodetic measurements and mathematical processing of results of these measurements

    Robust Geometry Estimation using the Generalized Voronoi Covariance Measure

    The Voronoi Covariance Measure of a compact set K of R^d is a tensor-valued measure that encodes geometric information on K and which is known to be resilient to Hausdorff noise but sensitive to outliers. In this article, we generalize this notion to any distance-like function delta and define the delta-VCM. We show that the delta-VCM is resilient to Hausdorff noise and to outliers, thus providing a tool to estimate robustly normals from a point cloud approximation. We present experiments showing the robustness of our approach for normal and curvature estimation and sharp feature detection

This property is often observed during characterisation tests under basic sollicitations like fretting, sliding, rolling-sliding. However, tests on cam-tappet systems show the coating lifetime can be highly reduced under special coupled conditions, such as the presence of an asperity breaking through the lubrication film into the contact area. Its influence on surface and subsurface stresses has to be quanti ed to eventually obtain a predictive model of the coating lifetime. The purpose of this study is to develop a simpli ed numerical model that is consistent with elasto-hydrodynami-lubrication (EHD) approxima- tions for estimating the stress perturbation due to such an asperity

    Investigations on Filtered OFDM with Selective Mapping Method and Partial Transmit Sequence Technique for Future Generation Mobile Communication Systems

    Future generation mobile communication system requires asynchronous transmission of data, reduced out-of-band power emission, low peak-to-average power ratio, low latency, high data transmission rate, better spectrum, energy, and power efficiency, etc. Investigations on suitable waveform candidates for future-generation mobile communication have been reported in this paper. Filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (F- OFDM), F- OFDM with Selective Mapping Method (SLM), and F- OFDM with Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) technique, have been investigated. Its performances have been evaluated in terms of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), bit error rate (BER), and out-of-band power emissions. F–OFDM is a suitable candidate for future-generation mobile communication systems that can be used with single-rate or multirate filters. It can also be used in combination with other PAPR reduction techniques. F-OFDM with PTS technique requires a smaller number of IFFT operations than F-OFDM with SLM. The result obtained from my present investigations reveals that F-OFDM with the PTS technique has 4.3 dB less PAPR than that of OFDM at the cost of marginal increase in the BER value
