    Editorial for the First Workshop on Mining Scientific Papers: Computational Linguistics and Bibliometrics

    The workshop "Mining Scientific Papers: Computational Linguistics and Bibliometrics" (CLBib 2015), co-located with the 15th International Society of Scientometrics and Informetrics Conference (ISSI 2015), brought together researchers in Bibliometrics and Computational Linguistics in order to study the ways Bibliometrics can benefit from large-scale text analytics and sense mining of scientific papers, thus exploring the interdisciplinarity of Bibliometrics and Natural Language Processing (NLP). The goals of the workshop were to answer questions like: How can we enhance author network analysis and Bibliometrics using data obtained by text analytics? What insights can NLP provide on the structure of scientific writing, on citation networks, and on in-text citation analysis?     Management of Crowdsourcing in Language Teaching and Learning: The State-of-the-art and Future Directions

    [EN] The new environment of technological development has led to a transformation of teaching and learning methodologies, especially in the field of language teaching. In this field, the so-called Crowdsourcing, applied in other fields, is an essential element to be considered. This paper tries to identify the applications of Crowdsourcing for teaching and learning. The aim is to observe the state of the art and its trends in order to improve efficiency in learning processes. The paper analyses 192 documents on crowdsourcing and language teaching and learning, extracted from the Web of Science in the period 2012 to 2023. The article carries out a literature review and performs a bibliometric and visualisation analysis essentially on journals, authors and keywords. The results show the importance of crowdsourcing in language teaching and learning, and the particularities of aspects such as Crowdteaching and Crowdlearning associated with new methodologies and technological developments. New trends indicate the relevance of including aspects such as, apart from language and linguistic considerations technological developments such as machine learning, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, or classification models.     Data Science, Machine learning and big data in Digital Journalism: A survey of state-of-the-art, challenges and opportunities

    Digital journalism has faced a dramatic change and media companies are challenged to use data science algo-rithms to be more competitive in a Big Data era. While this is a relatively new area of study in the media landscape, the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence has increased substantially over the last few years. In particular, the adoption of data science models for personalization and recommendation has attracted the attention of several media publishers. Following this trend, this paper presents a research literature analysis on the role of Data Science (DS) in Digital Journalism (DJ). Specifically, the aim is to present a critical literature review, synthetizing the main application areas of DS in DJ, highlighting research gaps, challenges, and op-portunities for future studies. Through a systematic literature review integrating bibliometric search, text min-ing, and qualitative discussion, the relevant literature was identified and extensively analyzed. The review reveals an increasing use of DS methods in DJ, with almost 47% of the research being published in the last three years. An hierarchical clustering highlighted six main research domains focused on text mining, event extraction, online comment analysis, recommendation systems, automated journalism, and exploratory data analysis along with some machine learning approaches.     The knowledge domain of affective computing: a scientometric review

    Purpose – The aim of this study is to investigate the bibliographical information about Affective Computing identifying advances, trends, major papers, connections, and areas of research. Design/methodology/approach – A scientometric analysis was applied using CiteSpace, of 5,078 references about Affective Computing imported from the Web-of-Science Core Collection, covering the period of 1991-2016. Findings – The most cited, creative, burts and central references are displayed by areas of research, using metrics and througout-time visualization. Research limitations/implications – Interpretation is limited to references retrieved from theWeb-of-Science Core Collection in the fields of management, psychology and marketing. Nevertheless, the richness of bibliographical data obtained, largely compensates this limitation. Practical implications – The study provides managers with a sound body of knowledge on Affective Computing, with which they can capture general public emotion in respect of their products and services, and on which they can base their marketing intelligence gathering, and strategic planning.     A model to improve the Evaluation and Selection of Public Contest´s Candidates (Police Officers) based on AI technologies

    Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Data Science and Advanced Analytics, specialization in Business AnalyticsThe number of candidates applying to Public Contests is increasing compared to the number of Human Resources employees required for selecting them for Police Forces. This work intends to perceive how those Public Institutions can evaluate and select their candidates efficiently during the different phases of the recruitment process, and for achieving this purpose AI approaches will be studied. This paper presents two research questions and introduces a corresponding systematic literature review, focusing on AI technologies, so the reader is able to understand which are most used and more appropriate to be applied to Police Forces as a complementary recruitment strategy of the National Criminal Investigation Police agency of Portugal – Polícia Judiciária. Design Science Research (DSR) was the methodological approach chosen. The suggestion of a theoretical framework is the main contribution of this study in pair with the segmentation of the candidates (future Criminal Inspectors). It also helped to comprehend the most important facts facing Public Institutions regarding the usage of AI technologies, to make decisions about evaluating and selecting candidates. Following the PRISMA methodology guidelines, a systematic literature review and meta-analyses method was adopted to identify how can the usage and exploitation of transparent AI have a positive impact on the recruitment process of a Public Institution, resulting in an analysis of 34 papers published between 2017 and 2021. The AI-based theoretical framework, applicable within the analysis of literature papers, solves the problem of how the Institutions can gain insights about their candidates while profiling them; how to obtain more accurate information from the interview phase; and how to reach a more rigorous assessment of their emotional intelligence providing a better alignment of moral values. This way, this work aims to advise the improvement of the decision making to be taken by a recruiter of a Police Force Institution, turning it into a more automated and evidence-based decision when it comes to recruiting the adequate candidate for the place

    Thematic analysis of big data in financial institutions using NLP techniques with a cloud computing perspective : a systematic literature review

    This literature review explores the existing work and practices in applying thematic analysis natural language processing techniques to financial data in cloud environments. This work aims to improve two of the five Vs of the big data system. We used the PRISMA approach (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) for the review. We analyzed the research papers published over the last 10 years about the topic in question using a keywordbased search and bibliometric analysis. The systematic literature review was conducted in multiple phases, and filters were applied to exclude papers based on the title and abstract initially, then based on the methodology/conclusion, and, finally, after reading the full text. The remaining papers were then considered and are discussed here. We found that automated data discovery methods can be augmented by applying an NLP-based thematic analysis on the financial data in cloud environments. This can help identify the correct classification/categorization and measure data quality for a sentiment analysis
