The system under consideration is subjected to
time-invariant norm-bounded parameter uncertainties in both the state and measurement matrices. The problem addressed is the design of
a gain-scheduled linear state estimator such that, for all admissible measurable uncertainties, the variance of the estimation error of each state is not more than the individual prespecified value, and the transfer function from disturbances to error state outputs satisfies the prespecified H∞-norm upper bound constraint, simultaneously. The conditions for the existence of desired estimators are obtained in terms of matrix inequalities, and the explicit expression of these estimators is also derived. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate various aspects of theoretical results
Restoration of ultrasonic images using non-linear system identification and deconvolution
This paper studies a new ultrasound image restoration method based on a non-linear forward model. A Hammerstein polynomial-based non-linear image formation model is considered to identify the system impulse response in baseband and around the second harmonic. The identification process is followed by a joint deconvolution technique minimizing an appropriate cost function. This cost function is constructed from two data fidelity terms exploiting the linear and non-linear model components, penalized by an additive-norm regularization enforcing sparsity of the solution. An alternating optimization approach is considered to minimize the penalized cost function, allowing the tissue reflectivity function to be estimated. Results on synthetic ultrasound images are finally presented to evaluate the algorithm performance
Identification of structured nonlinear state–space models for hysteretic systems using neural network hysteresis operators
Hysteretic system behavior is ubiquitous in science and engineering fields including measurement systems and applications. In this paper, we put forth a nonlinear state–space system identification method that combines the state–space equations to capture the system dynamics with a compact and exact artificial neural network (ANN) representation of the classical Prandtl–Ishlinskii (PI) hysteresis. These ANN representations called PI hysteresis operator neurons employ recurrent ANNs with classical activation functions, and thus can be trained with classical neural network learning algorithms. The structured nonlinear state–space model class proposed in this paper, for the first time, offers a flexible interconnection of PI hysteresis operators with a linear state–space model through a linear fractional representation. This results in a comprehensive and flexible model structure. The performance is validated both on numerical simulation and on measurement data.</p
