The purpose of this study is to determine the factors or influences that lead to the use of cashless mobile payments on the Batam millennial generation. The number of electronic-based payment media provided is expected to be able to create payment transactions that are practical, efficient, safe and encourage the creation of a Less Cash Society (LCS). When compared to Indonesia with other ASEAN countries, the level of use of electronic-based payments in the community is still low. Generation Y or the Millennial generation (15 to 39 years) in 2017 showed a figure of 40.29% or as many as 105,520,300 individuals from 261,890,900 Indonesians considered to have the potential to increase the use of electronic-based payments and encourage public awareness of LCS. The intention to use cashless mobile payments is the dependent variable. Attitudes, behavioral beliefs, financial costs, security and social influence act as independent variables for this study. Determination of the research object was carried out by purposive sampling method, namely the millennial generation (15 to 39 years) in Batam. Research data collection is based on the questionnaire method, namely electronic and online questionnaires with 230 collected data. The research data were analyzed through multiple regression analysis using SSPSS. The results obtained indicate that the variables of attitude, security and social influence have a significant positive effect on the intention to use cashless mobile payment, while the variables of behavioral beliefs and financial costs do not have a significant effect on the intention to use cashless mobile payments

Mobile payment refers to a payment method by which a consumer pays a bill for goods or services through a mobile terminal. mobile payment users can send payment instructions directly or indirectly to a bank financial enterprise via mobile devices or proximity sensing devices, thereby enabling currency payments and funds transfers. It realizes the integration of terminal equipment, Internet, application providers and financial institutions, and completes financial business such as currency payment. However, the adoption rates of this payment method are relatively low in Malaysia. This paper analyzes the factors that affect the willingness of Malaysian college students to use mobile payment. Three well-established theories, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), theory of Perceived Risk (PR), and Diffusion of Innovations Theory (DIT) are applied to investigate user acceptance of mobile payments. An empirical model for acceptance of mobile payment in Malaysia is established in this paper. Survey data from mobile payments users will be used to test the proposed hypothesis and the model. The result of data analysis shows that Malaysian consumers’ perceptions of cost has no statistically significant relationship with acceptance of mobile payment. On the other hand, the factor of perceived risk, personal innovativeness, performance expectancy, subjective norm and effort expectancy play important roles. Testing Mediation Effects of Information Communication Technology Usage on Technological, Organizational and Environmental Factors and World Heritage Sites Performance

    Get PDF
This study seeks to explain the mediation effect of Information Communication Technology (ICT) usage on the relationship between the technological (i.e., perceived relative advantage, perceive compatibility and perceived complexity), organizational (i.e., ICT support infrastructure and ICT support skills) and environmental (i.e., perceived competitive pressure and perceived pressure from customers) factors and world heritage sites performance. The study proposes the mediation model of ICT usage and world heritage sites in Tanzania. Methodology: The proposed order of the model is that ICT usage depends on technological, organizational and environmental factors and ICT usage may further predict world heritage sites performance. These measures capture our research questions. Respondents included decision makers off all the seven UNESCO sites of Tanzania. Data were collected from August to February 2018; 353 filled questionnaires were gathered and 238 were usable for further analysis. Final questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Main Results: The findings support that world heritage sites’ decision makers may consider perceived relative advantage, perceived complexity, ICT support infrastructure, ICT support skills, perceived competitive pressure and perceived pressure from customer to be the main determinants of ICT usage toward influencing performance of the world heritage sites. Originality of the research: The paper strengthens theoretical arguments by indicating the mediation effect of ICT usage on the relationship between the determining Technological, Organizational and Environmental (TOE) factors and world heritage sites. Thus, this study adds to the literature as it has confirmed both TOE and Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) theories. &nbsp

In the past decade, conventional payment methods of using cash is progressively replaced with electronic payments. Recently, QR mobile payment begins to receive more attention from many countries including Malaysia. Nevertheless, QR mobile payment is a relatively green area in which very limited literature exists on this subject matter pertaining to consumer acceptance and characteristics of adopter segments of this technology. Therefore, by applying the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as the main theoretical framework, the aim of the present study is to investigate the factors influencing intention to use QR mobile payment in Malaysia. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed which resulted in 485 complete responses. Perceived usefulness, personal innovativeness, perceived ease of use, subjective norm, and perceived security were found to be significant in determining intention to use QR mobile payment among Malaysian consumers

Ever since the emergence of big data concept, researchers have started applying the concept to various fields and tried to assess the level of acceptance of it with renown models like technology acceptance model (TAM) and it variations. In this regard, this paper tries to look at the factors that associated with the usage of big data analytics, by synchronizing TAM with organizational learning capabilities (OLC) framework. These models are applied on the construct, intended usage of big data and also the mediation effect of the OLC constructs is assessed. The data for the study is collected from the students pertaining to information technology disciplines at University of Liverpool, online programme. Though, invitation to participate e-mails are sent to 1035 students, only 359 members responded back with filled questionnaires. This study uses structural equation modelling and multivariate regression using ordinary least squares estimation to test the proposed hypotheses using the latest statistical software R. It is proved from the analysis that compared to other models, model 4 (which is constructed by using the constructs of OLC and TAM frameworks) is able to explain 44% variation in the usage pattern of big data. In addition to this, the mediation test performed revealed that the interaction between OLC dimensions and TAM dimensions on intended usage of big data has no mediation effect. Thus, this work provided inputs to the research community to look into the relation between the constructs of OLC framework and the selection of big data technology. - 2017, The Author(s).Scopu
