    Get PDF
In this paper, we present a novel model of an artificial immune system (AIS), based on the process that suffers the T-Cell. The proposed model is used for global optimization problems. The model operates on four populations: Virgins, Effectors (CD4 and CD8) and Memory. Each of them has a different role, representation and procedures. We validate our proposed approach with a set of test functions taken from the specialized literature, we also compare our results with the results obtained by different bio-inspired approaches and we statistically analyze the results gotten by our approach.Fil: Aragon, Victoria Soledad. The problems of blending electrolyzer and multi-constraint optimization of electrolytic aluminum scheduling in the electrolytic aluminum production process were addressed. Based on a mathematical model analysis, a novel hybrid optimization algorithm is proposed for optimization of blending together the molten aluminum in different electrolytic cells. An affinity degree function was designed to represent the path of aluminum scheduling. The mutation operators were designed to implement the transformation of electrolyzer combination and change the route of loading. A typical optimization example from an aluminum plant in northwest China is given in this paper, the results of which demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University.A new adaptive learning Artificial Immune System (AIS) based committee machine is developed in this thesis. The new proposed approach efficiently tackles the general problem of clustering high-dimensional data. In addition, it helps on deriving useful decision and results related to other application domains such classification and prediction. Artificial Immune System (AIS) is a branch of computational intelligence field inspired by the biological immune system, and has gained increasing interest among researchers in the development of immune-based models and techniques to solve diverse complex computational or engineering problems. This work presents some applications of AIS techniques to health problems, and a thorough survey of existing AIS models and algorithms. The main focus of this research is devoted to building an ensemble model integrating different AIS techniques (i.e. Artificial Immune Networks, Clonal Selection, and Negative Selection) for classification applications to achieve better classification results. A new AIS-based ensemble architecture with adaptive learning features is proposed by integrating different learning and adaptation techniques to overcome individual limitations and to achieve synergetic effects through the combination of these techniques. Various techniques related to the design and enhancements of the new adaptive learning architecture are studied, including a neuro-fuzzy based detector and an optimizer using particle swarm optimization method to achieve enhanced classification performance. An evaluation study was conducted to show the performance of the new proposed adaptive learning ensemble and to compare it to alternative combining techniques. Several experiments are presented using different medical datasets for the classification problem and findings and outcomes are discussed. The new adaptive learning architecture improves the accuracy of the ensemble. Moreover, there is an improvement over the existing aggregation techniques. The outcomes, assumptions and limitations of the proposed methods with its implications for further research in this area draw this research to its conclusion

This study aims to examine, regulate, and update the land transportation of the Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality (EMM), Turkey using computerized calculation techniques. In line with these targets, some critical information has been obtained for study: the number of buses, the number of expeditions, the number of bus lines, and the number and maps of existing routes belonging to EMM. By using the information that has been obtained, this study aims at outlining specific outputs according to the input parameters, such as determining the optimal routes, the average travel, and the journey time. Once all of these situations were considered, various optimization algorithms were used to get the targeted outputs in response to the determined input parameters. In addition, the study found that the problem involved in modeling the land transport network of the EMM is in line with the so-called “traveling salesman problem,” which is a scenario about optimization often discussed in the literature. This study tried to solve this problem by using the genetic algorithm, the clonal selection algorithm, and the DNA computing algorithm. The location data for each bus stops on the bus lines selected for the study were obtained from the EMM, and the distances between these coordinates were obtained by using Google Maps via a Google API. These distances were stored in a distance matrix file and used as input parameters in the application and then were put through optimization algorithms developed initially on the MATLAB platform. The study’s results show that the algorithms developed for the proposed approaches work efficiently and that the distances for the selected bus lines can be shortened.
