Indoor positioning system with smart wi-fi antennas

    Get PDF
The advancements of the indoor positioning system (IPS) in the recent years have been immense, yet we do not see the standardization of any solution. The system which is being used in many public scenarios is the Wi-Fi technology and the solution which we propose in this dissertation would not require change of infrastructure, but rather reusing existing one and simply enhancing it. This solution is low-cost and with relatively high precision considering current precision of Global Positioning System (GPS) of five meters. In this dissertation prototype is designed with motorized directional antennas using signal strength of two ESP8266. These position measurements are calculated and presented via micro controller and a Wi-Fi enabled device – ESP8266. Together with Yagi antenna, this solution has shown extremely good IPS characteristics and possibility to be implemented in real-case scenarios

This paper provides an overview of “Wireless and Mobile Security” course. The course offers practical study of security issues and features concerning wireless security. The program of the course effciently interleaves systematic theoretical knowledge and practical work. The theoretical part of the course includes basic information about the architecture of wireless networks, as well as available in this area to modern standards and protection mechanisms built into the equipment for wireless networks. It is also proposed an effective method for integrating a wireless network with the existing network infrastructure, taking into account all aspects of security. More than 50 percent of teaching time is devoted to practical work on the protection of wireless networks. During the course skills to work with software NetStumbler, Kismet, AirSnort, Aircrack, and other monitoring wireless and network tools will be acquired. Particular attention is paid to the use of the most common tools of audit wireless networks, both commercial, and open source. In conclusion, a comprehensive approach to wireless security will be offered for each wireless technology

A Smart Glucose Monitoring System for Diabetic Patient

[EN] Diabetic patients need ongoing surveillance, but this involves high costs for the government and family. The combined use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), artificial intelligence and smart devices can reduce these costs, helping the diabetic patient. This paper presents an intelligent architecture for the surveillance of diabetic disease that will allow physicians to remotely monitor the health of their patients through sensors integrated into smartphones and smart portable devices. The proposed architecture includes an intelligent algorithm developed to intelligently detect whether a parameter has exceeded a threshold, which may or may not involve urgency. To verify the proper functioning of this system, we developed a small portable device capable of measuring the level of glucose in the blood for diabetics and body temperature. We designed a secure mechanism to establish a wireless connection with the smartphone.Rghioui, A.; Lloret, J.; Harane, M.; Oumnad, A. (2020). A Smart Glucose Monitoring System for Diabetic Patient. Load Management and Logging for Stand-Alone Power Systems

    Get PDF
Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), one of the world’s largest medical aid organizations, operates field hospitals around the world, providing health care to millions. However, field hospitals are often located in environments where access to a quality electrical power supply is precarious, and MSF must often self-supply or supplement their electrical power needs. Thus, the management of the electrical power supply presents challenges to field technicians. In this thesis, a proof-of-concept system was designed to monitor, analyze, and control the electrical demands, using various sensors and inexpensive micro controllers. After building a replica electrical hospital network, a micro grid analyzer was developed which logged and calculated various real-time electrical values. Next, a wireless mesh system was built to connect or disconnect loads based on a collection of variables. This thesis demonstrates the possibility of using affordable off-the-shelf equipment to build a logging and control system for electrical power supply management for field technicians. Even though these systems will need to be further tested in the field, this thesis proves the concept and shows the potential for simple and affordable solutions to electrical power supply management for field technicians. Implementing such systems in field hospitals will provide more electrical stability in otherwise unstable environments, ultimately serving patients dependent on hospital care

Centralized Air Pollution Detection and Monitoring: A Review

    Get PDF
Air pollution has become a major concern over the last quarter century and therefore mitigation of poor air quality for health and environmental reasons has been a primary focus for local governments. Industrialization and increasing number of vehicles are the primary source of pollution. There is ever rising need for continuous monitoring of air quality. A lot of technologies have introduced for measuring the air pollution. This paper presents a comparative study of the available technologies. Comparisons have been done based on measured pollutants, sensitivity, range, implementation cost, level of complexity etc., which are provided in tabular form for easy comparison. Paper also includes a proposed model which is an idea to implement the same as a real time project for air pollution detection and monitoring using microcontroller and Wi-Fi module

Weather Condition Monitoring System as A Floods Prevention in Malang using Android Application

On January 2021 rain often splashing Malang City with intensity high and deep period a long time, so some areas experience flood. BMKG is an Indonesian official institution in charge to give information forecast weather good through online media nor offline. However, they do not give specific information about real-time location weather. This study aims to make it easy for user in accept information on bulk rain, water level, wind speed and temperature as effort to prevent flood. This study proposed prototype using bulk sensor rain, water level, wind speed and temperature as well as using ESP32 as microcontroller with monitoring via android. This tool could put in general place or in a vulnerable flood area. Results show that sending data from ESP32 microcontroller to firebase database is successful sent through "AVRO POLINEMA" Wi-Fi connection. QoS performance between ESP32 to Firebase shows throughput = 7.076368 Kb / s (poor), packet loss = 0.5% (very good), delay = 250,582 s (good), jitter = 0.0299139 ms (good) and between Application to Firebase got results throughput = 32.24112 (medium), packet loss = 0.4% (very good), delay = 118.009 ms (very good), jitter = 0.0903578947 ms (good)

OpenZmeter: An Efficient Low-Cost Energy Smart Meter and Power Quality Analyzer

    Get PDF
Power quality and energy consumption measurements support providers and energy users with solutions for acquiring and reporting information about the energy supply for residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. In particular, since the average number of electronic devices in homes increases year by year and their sensitivity is very high, it is not only important to monitor the total energy consumption, but also the quality of the power supplied. However, in practice, end-users do not have information about the energy consumption in real-time nor about the quality of the power they receive, because electric energy meters are too expensive and complex to be handled. In order to overcome these inconveniences, an innovative, open source, low-cost, precise, and reliable power and electric energy meter is presented that can be easily installed and managed by any inexperienced user at their own home in urban or rural areas. The system was validated in a real house over a period of two weeks, showing interesting results and findings which validate our proposal
