    Implementation of a Hardware/Software Platform for Real-Timedata-Intensive Applications in Hazardous Environments

    Real-Time Technology and Applications Symposium. Brookline, MA, USA, 10-12 Oct. 1996In real-time data-intensive applications, the simultaneous achievement of the required performance and determinism is a difficult issue to address, mainly due to the time needed to perform I/O operations, which is more significant than the CPU processing time. Additional features need to be considered if these applications are intended to perform in hostile environments. In this paper, we address the implementation of a hardware/software platform designed to acquire, transfer, process and store massive amounts of information at sustained rates of several MBytes/sec, capable of supporting real-time applications with stringent throughput requirements under hazardous environmental conditions. A real-world system devoted to the inspection of nuclear power plants is presented as an illustrative examplePublicad

    The use of the concept of event in enterprise ontologies and requirements engineering literature.

    The concept of event is used in a lot of meanings. It can be the possible outcome of doing something (probability theory), it can be a business transaction (accounting), or just a plain happening. In software engineering, the concept of event is also used a lot. It is used to accomplish loose coupling between software components or to realise interaction between different services. There is however not a consensus on the meaning of `an event'. In enterprise ontologies, an event is defined as a happening at one point in time, or as an activity which takes time to complete. In requirement engineering, the same different uses can be found, together with an event as a request for something that needs to be done. These differences can also be found in implementation. All these distinct purposes of the word event make it difficult to integrate and use different requirement engineering techniques. Comparison or transformations between models drawn in different grammars is impossible because of the ambiguity of the concept of event. We define three meanings for an event that are used by enterprise ontologies and requirement engineering techniques: an achievement (happening at one point in time), an activity (happening over time) and a request (a demand for something that needs to be done). We also identify a missing link between real economic events, the events defined in the requirements model and the events used in implementation.Requirements modelling; Enterprise ontology; Process modelling; Dynamic; Event;

    The Implications of the Adherence to the European Union over the Achievementof a Functional Market Economy in Romania

    The transition to the economy with competitive market intersects in a good measure with the adherence of Romania to the European Union. We take into account both the preparation period of the conditions of pre-adherence, when between Romania and the European Union functioned an Agreement of association, and also the period after the formal official adherence on the 1st of January 2007. Romania’s adherence to the European Union has special implications over the achievement of a functional market economy through the assimilation of the communitarian acquis, especially in the competence field but also through the perspective of the introduction of the unique currency Euro. The benefic effects started to manifest even since the moment of the signing of the Association Agreement, through financial assistance of which Romania beneficiated. The adherence perspective obliged Romania to adept properly the business medium and to improve the macroeconomic stability. The communitarian aquis must be assimilated in its integrity, not an easy thing, especially if we take into account that this is also affected by a certain dynamism due to the changes produced in the European space. The alignment to the European structures means the reformation on new coordinates of all the components of the socio-economic and politic life. The corollary of all these transformations and efforts is the Romanians’ status of European citizens.The adherence to the European Union, Macroeconomic, the competition’s policy.

    Recruitment and selection processes through an effective GDSS

    [[abstract]]This study proposes a group decision support system (GDSS), with multiple criteria to assist in recruitment and selection (R&S) processes of human resources. A two-phase decision-making procedure is first suggested; various techniques involving multiple criteria and group participation are then defined corresponding to each step in the procedure. A wide scope of personnel characteristics is evaluated, and the concept of consensus is enhanced. The procedure recommended herein is expected to be more effective than traditional approaches. In addition, the procedure is implemented on a network-based PC system with web interfaces to support the R&S activities. In the final stage, key personnel at a human resources department of a chemical company in southern Taiwan authenticated the feasibility of the illustrated example.[[notice]]補正完畢[[journaltype]]國內[[incitationindex]]SCI[[incitationindex]]E
