A New Parameterization for the Lagrangian Density of Relativistic Mean Field Theory
A new parameterization for an effective non-linear Lagrangian density of
relativistic mean field (RMF) theory is proposed, which is able to provide an
excellent description not only for the properties of stable nuclei but also for
those far from the valley of beta-stability. In addition recently measured
superdeformed mimima in the Hg-region are reproduced with high accuracy.Comment: 8 pages, Latex, 1 ps figur
Combining a hierarchical task network planner with a constraint satisfaction solver for assembly operations involving routing problems in a multi-robot context
This work addresses the combination of a symbolic hierarchical task network planner and a constraint satisfaction solver for the vehicle routing problem in a multi-robot context for structure assembly operations. Each planner has its own problem domain and search space, and the article describes how both planners interact in a loop sharing information in order to improve the cost of the solutions. The vehicle routing problem solver gives an initial assignment of parts to robots, making the distribution based on the distance among parts and robots, trying also to maximize the parallelism of the future assembly operations evaluating during the process the dependencies among the parts assigned to each robot. Then, the hierarchical task network planner computes a scheduling for the given assignment and estimates the cost in terms of time spent on the structure assembly. This cost value is then given back to the vehicle routing problem solver as feedback to compute a better assignment, closing the loop and repeating again the whole process. This interaction scheme has been tested with different constraint satisfaction solvers for the vehicle routing problem. The article presents simulation results in a scenario with a team of aerial robots assembling a structure, comparing the results obtained with different configurations of the vehicle routing problem solver and showing the suitability of using this approach.Unión Europea ARCAS FP7-ICT-287617Unión Europea H2020-ICT-644271Unión europea H2020-ICT-73166
Nuclear matter incompressibility coefficient in relativistic and nonrelativistic microscopic models
We systematically analyze the recent claim that nonrelativistic and
relativistic mean field (RMF) based random phase approximation (RPA)
calculations for the centroid energy E_0 of the isoscalar giant monopole
resonance yield for the nuclear matter incompressibility coefficient, K_{nm},
values which differ by about 20%. For an appropriate comparison with the RMF
based RPA calculations, we obtain the parameters for the Skyrme force used in
the nonrelativistic model by adopting the same procedure as employed in the
determination of the NL3 parameter set of an effective Lagrangian used in the
RMF model. Our investigation suggest that the discrepancy between the values of
K_{nm} predicted by the relativistic and nonrelativistic models is
significantly less than 20%.Comment: Revtex file (13 pages), appearing in PRC-Rapid Com
Segmentation algorithms of biomedical images: development and quantitative evaluation
The article presents the comparative analysis of the biomedical image segmentation methods. The work discusses segmentation methods on the basis of previous labeling and spatial moments. The experimental results show that the developed methods have higher accuracy by signal-noise ratio compared to the nowadays known. Moreover the authors have developed the quantitative evaluation of the segmentation algorithms based on the metrical approach. The proposed research has been developed within the state budget project "Hybrid Intelligent Information Technology Diagnosing of Precancerous Breast Cancer Based on Image Analysis" (state registration number 1016U002500)
The Role of Different Sets of Verbal Cues in Six-Choice Reaction Time
McAllister (2) recently offered an explanation for the subsequent superior performance on the Star Discrimeter of Ss given relevant-S-R pretraining over Ss given relevant-S pretraining. She further proposed that because of previous learning, different relevantS-R pretraining would lead to differential facilitation. This differential facilitation would occur for two reasons. First, verbal responses serve as cues, which, through past learning (plus instructions), elicit responses which furnish information concerning the correct motor responses. Since the past learning would, presumably, be different for various types of verbal responses this variation would lead to differential facilitation. Second, if in previous learning situations response strength had been acquired between the verbal cues and motor responses similar to those required on the criterion task facilitation would be increased

A prospective study on patterns of use of schizophrenia medications in outpatient pharmacy department, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Selangor, Malaysia
Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder and pharmacotherapy plays a major role in its management. The 1950s and early 1960s saw milestones in the introduction of psychotropic drugs in clinical practice. A review of drug prescriptions in different settings provides an insight into the pattern of drug use, identifies drug-related problems and may be used to compare recommended guidelines with actual practice. This effort led to the evaluation of the drug prescribing pattern of antipsychotics in patients attending the psychiatric clinic at a government hospital. The data from 371 antipsychotic medication prescriptions that included 200 prescriptions for schizophrenia were collected during one month (1rst-31rst August 2008) at the outpatient pharmacy department. The mean age of patients was 35.0 years (SD = 1.131), with a male to female ratio of 2:1. The most widely used oral antipsychotic was haloperidol (16.3%) while the most common depot preparation prescribed was zuclopenthixol decanoate (8.8%). The daily dose of the average antipsychotic prescribed in this clinic was 342.06 mg equivalent of chlorpromazine. There was no relation between the doses received and ethnicity of the patient (Malay, Chinese or Indian). However, there was a significant relationship between the prescribed dose and patient age (P < 0.042). Nearly 32% of the schizophrenia patients were prescribed with atypical antipsychotics such as olanzapine (10.8%), risperidone (10.0%), quetiapine (7.6%) and clozapine (3.2%). Monotherapy was given to 73.0% of the schizophrenia patients. The majority of patients also received antidepressants. To conclude, this study gave evidence that physicians had a strong preference for monotherapy with conventional antipsychotic drugs while the use of atypical drugs was less prevalent
11 C radiolabeling of anle253b: A putative PET tracer for Parkinson's disease that binds to α-synuclein fibrils in vitro and crosses the blood-brain barrier.
There is an urgent clinical need for imaging of α-synuclein (αSyn) fibrils, the hallmark biomarker for Parkinson's disease, in neurodegenerative disorders. Despite immense efforts, promising tracer candidates for nuclear imaging of αSyn are rare. Diphenyl pyrazoles are known modulators of αSyn aggregation and thus bear potential for non-invasive detection of this biomarker in vivo. Here we demonstrate high-affinity binding of the family member anle253b to fibrillar αSyn and present a high-yielding site-selective radiosynthesis route for 11 C radiolabeling using in-situ generated [11 C]formaldehyde and reductive methylation. Radio-HPLC of the tracer after incubation with rat serum in vitro shows excellent stability of the molecule. Positron emission tomography in healthy animals is used to assess the pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of the tracer, showing good penetration of the blood-brain barrier and low background binding to the non-pathological brain
Generator coordinate method calculations of one-nucleon removal reactions on Ca
An approach to the Generator Coordinate Method (GCM) using Skyrme-type
effective forces and Woods-Saxon construction potential is applied to calculate
the single-particle proton and neutron overlap functions in Ca. The
relationship between the bound-state overlap functions and the one-body density
matrix has been used. These overlap functions are applied to calculate the
cross sections of one-nucleon removal reactions such as (), ()
and () on Ca on the same theoretical footing. A consistent
description of data for the different reactions is achieved. The shapes of the
experimental cross sections for transitions to the ground state and
the first excited state of the residual nuclei are well reproduced by
the overlap functions obtained within the GCM. An additional spectroscopic
factor accounting for correlations not included in the overlap function must be
applied to the calculated results to reproduce the size of the experimental
cross sections.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures, to be published in Phys. Rev.
