    Practitioner Profile: An Interview with Reeta Wolfsohn, CMSW

    Reeta Wolfsohn, CMSW, began practicing financial therapy in 1997. At the time, she didn’t call what she did by that name, but her work specifically addressed the financial issues and problems of her clients. Early on in her work, Reeta recognized clients wanted to take control of their money and their lives, but struggled not only with the shame, guilt, worry, and stress of debt, but also with the poor sense of self, and low self-confidence and self-esteem which inevitably accompanied it. Realizing clients needed more help than regularly scheduled therapy sessions, she began developing financial educational materials and psychosocial financial activities for her clients to work on between sessions. Financial Social Work grew out of those early efforts

    TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, História.Este trabalho monográfico tem o propósito de compreender o desenvolvimento industrial no Brasil, no período de 1950 até 1964 sobe o olhar marxista da Teoria da Dependência. Para conceber essa abordagem foram confrontadas as perspectivas de aspectos referentes a Comissão Econômica das Nações Unidas para a América Latina (CEPAL), com a preocupação pelo fato de que o crescimento econômico nos países ricos e centrais do capitalismo, industrializados e desenvolvidos tecnologicamente não levava necessariamente ao crescimento dos países mais pobres periféricos ao sistema capitalista. Para legitimar empiricamente essa discussão, foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográficas para levantamento de conceitos de diferentes autores. Os dados foram tratados por meio da análise do conteúdo, em uma abordagem temática. Como resultado, os aspectos relacionados a teoria da dependência levado ao extremo resultou na aplicação de modelos de substituição de importações e à implementação de uma série de políticas protecionistas, especialmente nos países da América Latina

Plos Biology, 19(8), (2021): e3001322, https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio.3001322.Marine multicellular organisms host a diverse collection of bacteria, archaea, microbial eukaryotes, and viruses that form their microbiome. Such host-associated microbes can significantly influence the host’s physiological capacities; however, the identity and functional role(s) of key members of the microbiome (“core microbiome”) in most marine hosts coexisting in natural settings remain obscure. Also unclear is how dynamic interactions between hosts and the immense standing pool of microbial genetic variation will affect marine ecosystems’ capacity to adjust to environmental changes. Here, we argue that significantly advancing our understanding of how host-associated microbes shape marine hosts’ plastic and adaptive responses to environmental change requires (i) recognizing that individual host–microbe systems do not exist in an ecological or evolutionary vacuum and (ii) expanding the field toward long-term, multidisciplinary research on entire communities of hosts and microbes. Natural experiments, such as time-calibrated geological events associated with well-characterized environmental gradients, provide unique ecological and evolutionary contexts to address this challenge.
