On a semi symmetric metric connection with a special condition on a Riemannian manifold
In this study, we consider a manifold equipped with semi symmetric metric connection whose the torsion tensor satisfies a special condition. We investigate some properties of the Ricci tensor and the curvature tensor of this manifold . We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the mixed generalized quasi-constant curvature of this manifold. Finally, we prove that if the manifold mentioned above is conformally flat, then it is a mixed generalized quasi- Einstein manifold and we prove that if the sectional curvature of a Riemannian manifold with a semi symmetric metric connection whose the special torsion tensor is independent from orientation chosen, then this manifold is of a mixed generalized quasi constant curvature
Electrochemical synthesis of nickel/nickel foam electrode from ionic liquid for supercapacitor applications
Nikel temelli elektrot, enerji depolama malzemeleri için kolin klorür ve üre bazlı iyonik sıvı içerisinden nikel köpük akım toplayıcı üzerine elektrokimyasal olarak depolandı. Kaplamaların KOH elektrolitinde nikel köpük üzerindeki elektrokimyasal davranışı, dönüşümlü voltametri tekniği ile incelendi. İyonik bir sıvıdan elektrodepolanan elektrotlar, pozitif potansiyelde (0 ile 0.6 V arasında) redoks reaksiyonuna sahip oldukları için katot elektrotu olarak kullanılabilir. SEM ile kaplanmamış ve kaplanmış nikel köpüğün yüzey morfolojisi incelendi. Nikel köpüğün kendisi 2B dökme nikelden daha büyük bir yüzey alanına sahiptir. Nikelin iyonik sıvıdan elektrodepolanmasında yüksek yüzey alanına sahip mikropartiküller elde edilmiştir. Bu yüzden nikel kaplı nikel köpük elektrot ile bazik elektrolit arasındaki iyon ve elektron transfer hızı artırıldı. Nikel temelli nikel köpük elektrotunun KOH elektroliti içerisindeki reaksiyon mekanizması, difüzyon kontrollü olarak gerçekleşti. Bağlayıcı içermeyen nikel köpük üzerindeki nikel bazlı elektrot, 5 mV s-1 tarama hızında 1055 F g-1'lik spesifik kapasitansa sahiptir. İyonik sıvı içerisinden nikel köpük yüzey üzerine elde edilen nikel temelli kaplamalar, enerji depolama cihazlarında katot elektrot olarak kullanılabilir.Nickel based electrode was deposited electrochemically on a nickel foam current collector from choline chloride and urea based ionic liquid for energy storage materials. Electrochemical behaviour of the coatings on the nickel foam in KOH electrolyte was characterised by means of cyclic voltammetry. The electrodes electrodeposited from an ionic liquid could be used as a cathode electrode as they have redox reaction at positive potential (between 0 and 0.6 V). SEM provides the surface morpology of uncoated and coated nickel foam. Nickel foam itself has a greater surface area than a 2D bulk nickel. Nickel microparticles with high surface area on a foam were obtained by electrodeposition of nickel from ionic liquid. The rate of ion and electron transfer between nickel coated nickel foam electrode and alkaline electrolyte has been increased. The reaction mechanism of nickel coated foam electrode was conttrolled by diffusion step in KOH. Nickel-based electrode on nickel foam which did not require a binder had a specific capacitance of 1055 F g-1 at a scan rate of 5 mV s-1. Electrodeposited nickel based coatings on nickel foam from an ionic liquid can be used as a potential cathode electrode in energy storage devices
Plyometric exercising of athletes at adolescence periodAdolesan dönemde bulunan sporcularda pliometrik antrenman
Strength is among the most frequently researched subjects in the field of sports sciences. The main reason for strength’s being researched this much in sports is thought to be its being an important motoric characteristic that affects sportive performance most of the researches focusing on strength have focused on relationship between strength and sportive performance, relationship between strength and the other motoric characteristics, and the effects of different exercising models on strength development. Among those strength exercises, plyometric trainings have become the mostly preferred exercising models. Plyometric trainings are strength development methods that include jumping drills and pliometric exercises for the upper extremity. While plyometric exercises are the methods used by elite athletes frequently, they have been used on adolescence athletes as well in recent years. However, although there are some reservations on the implementation of plyometric exercises on adolescence athletes, it is also stated that provided that these exercises are done relevant to their aims and in a systematic way, they contribute to a healthy strength development. This study focused on the content and characteristics of plyometric exercises different from adults, their effect on strength development. ÖzetSpor bilimleri alanında üzerinde en fazla araştırma yapılan konuların başında kuvvet gelmektedir. Sporda kuvvet ile ilgili çok sayıda araştırma yapılmasının temelinde kuvvet özelliğinin sportif performansı etkileyen önemli bir motorik özellik olmasının yattığı düşünülebilir. Kuvvet üzerine yapılan araştırmalarda genellikle kuvveti sportif performans ile ilişkisi, kuvvetin diğer motorik özellikler ile ilişkisi ve uygulanan farklı kuvvet antrenman modellerinin kuvvet gelişimine etkilerinin ele alındığı görülmektedir. Söz konusu kuvvet antrenmanları içerisinde pliometrik antrenmanlar da son yıllarda en fazla kullanılan antrenman modellerinin içerisinde yer almaktadır. Pliometrik antrenmanlar sıçrama drillerinin üst ekstremiteye yönelik pliometrik egzersizlerin yer aldığı kuvvet geliştirme yöntemleridir. Pliometrik antrenmanlar elit düzeyde sporcuların sıklıkla kullandığı bir yöntem iken, son yıllarda adolesan dönemdeki sporcular üzerinde de kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Ancak literatürde adolesan sporcularda pliometrik antrenmanların uygulanışına yönelik bazı kaygılar bulunmakla beraber, amacına uygun ve sistemli yapılan pliometrik antrenmanların sağlıklı bir kuvvet gelişimine katkı sağladığı da belirtilmektedir. Yapılan bu araştırmada da adolesanlarda pliometrik antrenmanların içeriği, yetişkin antrenmanlarından ayrılan özellikleri ve kuvvet gelişimine etkileri üzerinde durulmuştur
Determination of The Relationship Between Hopelessness-Depression Frequency and Socio- Demographic Features in Students of School of Medicine, Suleyman Demirel University
Aim:Depression and hopelessness, cause impairment in the quality of life and leads to the loss of one's efficiency are important problems. The purpose of this study is to search the frequency of depression and hopelessness and its relations with socio-demographic characteristics among medical students.Materials and Methods:This is a cross sectional analytical study. It was conducted 2-4 March 2009 between. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year students from the Faculty of Medicine, Suleyman Demirel University were included in the study. 236 of a total 330 students (68.5 %) participated in the study. A questionnaire which aims to determine the students’ socio-demographic characteristics, Beck depression inventory and Beck hopelessness scale were applied under observation to the participants. According to the Beck depression inventory, those who scored 17 and over were classified as possible depressive. Data were evaluated statistically.Results:The average score of the students according to Beck hopelessness scale was found 5.3±4.6. According to Beck depression inventory 64 of the students (28.3%) were found to be possible depressive. The average Beck hopelessness scale score was higher for possible depressive students compared to the others (p=0.00). Depression scores was higher among the first year students compared to the others (p=0.03), higher among the females compared the males (p=0.02) and higher among dwelling in dorm compared to not dwelling in dorm (p=0.001). When the age of students, monthly income of family, the educational status of the parents were compared with hopelessness and depression rates there was no statistically significant relation.Conclusion:As a result, depression rates were high in basic medical students, furthermore hopelessness scores were found high among possible depressive students. Medical students should be given guidance and counseling service. Effective monitoring and prevention programs should be developed in order to lower the possible effects of depression and hopelessness on their future professional lives

Amaç Depresyon ve umutsuzluk kişinin verimliliğini kaybetmesine, yaşam kalitesinin bozulmasına neden olan önemli problemlerdir. Bu çalışmanın amacı tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde depresyon ve umutsuzluk sıklığını ve sosyodemografik özelliklerle arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktır. Materyal ve Metod Kesitsel-analitik tipte olan bu çalışma 02–04 Mart 2009 tarihleri arasında yürütüldü. Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi birinci, ikinci ve üçüncü sınıf öğrencileri çalışmaya dahil edildi. Çalışmaya 330 öğrenciden 226’sı (% 68,5) katıldı. Öğrencilere, sosyodemografik özelliklerini saptamaya yönelik anket formu, Beck Depresyon Ölçeği, Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği gözlem altında uygulandı. Beck depresyon ölçeğine göre 17 ve üzeri puan alanlar olası depresif olarak sınıflandırıldı. Veriler istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular Öğrencilerin Beck umutsuzluk ölçeği puan ortalamaları 5,3±4,6 bulundu. Beck depresyon ölçeğine göre 64’ü (%28,3) olası depresif bulundu. Olası depresif olanlarda Beck umutsuzluk ölçeği puan ortalaması normal olanlara göre daha yüksekti (p=0.00). Birinci sınıf öğrencilerinde diğer sınıflardaki öğrencilere göre (p=0.03), kızlarda erkeklere göre (p=0.02), yurtta kalan öğrencilerde ise yurtta kalmayanlara göre (p=0.001) depresyon puanları daha yüksek bulundu. Öğrencilerin yaşları, ailenin aylık gelir düzeyleri, ebeveynlerinin öğrenim durumları ile umutsuzluk ve depresyon oranları karşılaştırıldığında aralarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmadı. Sonuç Sonuç olarak, temel tıp öğrencilerinde depresyon oranı yüksek olmakla birlikte, olası depresif öğrencilerde umutsuzluk puanları da yüksek bulunmuştur. Impact of laboratory test use strategies in a Turkish hospital
Objectives: Eliminating unnecessary laboratory tests is a good way to reduce costs while maintain patient safety. The aim of this study was to define and process strategies to rationalize laboratory use in Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital (ANH) and calculate potential savings in costs. Methods: A collaborative plan was defined by hospital managers; joint meetings with ANHTA and laboratory professors were set; the joint committee invited relevant staff for input, and a laboratory efficiency committee was created. Literature was reviewed systematically to identify strategies used to improve laboratory efficiency. Strategies that would be applicable in local settings were identified for implementation, processed, and the impact on clinical use and costs assessed for 12 months. Results: Laboratory use in ANH differed enormously among clinics. Major use was identified in internal medicine. The mean number of tests per patient was 15.8. Unnecessary testing for chloride, folic acid, free prostate specific antigen, hepatitis and HIV testing were observed. Test panel use was pinpointed as the main cause of overuse of the laboratory and the Hospital Information System test ordering page was reorganized. A significant decrease (between 12.6-85.0%) was observed for the tests that were taken to an alternative page on the computer screen. The one year study saving was equivalent to 371,183 US dollars. Conclusion: Hospital-based committees including laboratory professionals and clinicians can define hospital based problems and led to a standardized approach to test use that can help clinicians reduce laboratory costs through appropriate use of laboratory test
High-field NMR T2 relaxation mechanism in D2O solutions of albumin
400 MHz NMR T2 in D2O solutions of albumin and pure D2O were measured at different temperatures. A relation, based on the chemical exchange between bound HDO and non-exchangeable protein protons, was derived theoretically for the contributions of bound HDO [Pb(1/T2b)]. A second relation was also derived theoretically by considering spin-rotation interactions between bound HDO and surrounding protein protons. The Pb(1/T2b) values in albumin solutions were then determined by replacing experimental data into the fi rst relation. The values of the 1/T2 and Pb(1/T2b) in albumin solutions increase linearly with temperature(T), whereas the 1/T2 in D2O decreases with T. In addition, the spin rotation correlation times were calculated from the second relation. The dipolar correlation time of albumin was then reproduced from the spin-rotation correlation times for confi rmative purposes. In conclusion, the 1/T2 in albumin solutions with D2O is caused by spin-rotation interactions

Her ne kadar birbirleriyle farklı alanlar olsalar da hem sinema hem de sosyal hizmet insan yaşamına dokunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu nedenle birçok sinema yapıtında sosyal hizmete ilişkin öğeler bulmak ve bu yapıtları sosyal hizmet eğitiminde kullanmak mümkündür. Bu durum Türk Sineması için de geçerlidir. Bu noktadan hareketle bu çalışmanın amacı Ertem Eğilmez’in yönettiği (1973), Canım Kardeşim filmini bir sosyal hizmet eğitim materyali olarak incelemektir. Bu çalışma içerik analizine dayalı nitel araştırma yöntemi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Filmde gözlenen yoksulluk, göç, korunma ihtiyacı içerisindeki çocuk, madde bağımlılığı, barınma sorunu, kronik hastalık ve suç gibi sosyal sorunlar sosyal hizmet bakış açısıyla değerlendirilmiştirAlthough they are different fields both cinema and social work aim to touch human life. For this reason, it is possible to determine issues related to social work in many movies and use these movies in social work education. This is also true for Turkish cinema. From this point of view, the aim of this study is to examine the “Canım Kardeşim” movie, directed by Ertem Eğilmez (1973), as a social work education material.
