Diseño de un dispositivo para rehabilitación de rodilla mediante la optimización de mecanismos.La articulación de rodilla es esencial para el sistema musculoesquelético del cuerpo humano, ya que cumple con dos funciones: permite soportar el peso del cuerpo y moverse a través del espacio. Al ser una articulación que está sometida a constante carga, está propensa a sufrir lesiones, enfermedades o patologías (artritis, lesiones y trastornos de cartílagos, lesiones en los ligamentos, entre otras), algunas de las cuales, para ser tratadas requieren de intervención quirúrgica y de un proceso de rehabilitación; el cual permite recuperar el movimiento de la articulación mediante ejercicios de extensión y flexión, ya sea de manera pasiva o activa. Los ejercicios de extensión y flexión pasiva generalmente son conducidos por parte de un médico o especialista (fisioterapeuta), sin embargo, ante el creciente número de pacientes con problemas de rodilla, se han desarrollado dispositivos de rehabilitación pasivos enfocados a la recuperación del movimiento en la articulación por medio de la extensión y flexión de rodilla, el rango de flexión que alcanzan es de 120°, y si se requiere desarrollar un rango mayor de flexión, estos dispositivos no son capaces de cubrirlo, por esta razón se realizó el diseño de un dispositivo de rehabilitación el cual abarca un rango de movimiento completo. Para su desarrollo se empleó la metodología clásica de diseño, se definieron 4 diseños conceptuales, se realizó la síntesis dimensional de los mecanismos en cada uno de ellos, se analizaron los resultados y se realizó la síntesis óptima al diseño conceptual seleccionado, pasando previamente por una etapa de rediseño, con el cual se logró obtener un mecanismo de 6 barras de un grado de libertad. Con el mecanismo optimizado se procedió al desarrollo del diseño de detalle. Los resultados mediante la simulación del ensamble y movimiento del diseño permitieron verificar el correcto funcionamiento y no se encontraron interferencias entre los eslabones del mecanismo, o entre los componentes del dispositivo y el análisis de elementos finitos permitió verificar la resistencia de los materiales propuestos

Novel Olefin Polymerization Pre-Catalyst Bearing an Inversely-Polarized Phosphaalkene Ethenolate Monoanionic Bidentate Ligand and its Polymerization Studies

The synthesis and structure elucidation of the first monoanionic bidentate ligand bearing an inversely-polarized phosphaalkene, its precursors and the first titanium complex bearing such ligand are herein reported. Single-crystal X-ray studies of the titanium complex confirmed the coordination of the bidentate ligand using the phosphaalkene phosphorus and ethenolate oxygen atoms with a strong evidence that there is charge delocalization through the metallocycle and the imidazole ring. The thermal stability of the phosphaalkeneethenolate ligand and the titanium complex at high temperature is reported. The new titanium complex displayed an activity for ethylene polymerization up to 9.2 kg PE mol cat1 h1. The polyethylene produced was linear with a low degree of branching, an average molecular weight of ~ 6000 g mol1 and a Tm of 130.0 C

Rhode Island and Connecticut wineries business strategy, performance, and management capabilities: a survey of managerial practices

New wineries in less traditional wine regions have broadened the concept of the wine industry by linking it with tourism; perhaps with more strength than in other more traditional areas, where this change in the business model has also occurred. To understand what the drivers of a better performance to this new typology of wineries are, this article has surveyed the wineries of the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island, in the northeast of the U.S., a new wine region. Through a questionnaire, the strategies these wineries follow and their relevant management capabilities in relationship with their performance have been analyzed. The conclusions show how the management capabilities the wineries own are as important as the strategy of differentiation they follow in their pursue and obtention of a competitive advantage; and that it is a service and tourism-oriented strategy that eventually facilitates this advantage. The managerial skills of creating an efficient and coordinated organizational structure together with their conception of this service-oriented business, where the tourism aspect plays a fundamental role, seems evident when defining the resources and capabilities that generate their sustainable performance
