Así, nesta comunicación destácanse os aspectos mais críticos relacionados coa planificación, seguimento e resultados das ApS, así como outras cuestións derivadas de posibles desequilibrios entre os proxectos.[Abstract] Learning-Service Projects (LSP) may be attractive both for students and teachers because of the multiple opportunities they offer to help students achieve transversal competencies. However, LSP activities demand detailed planning and thorough monitoring, thus limiting the maximum number of students that can participate in those projects. With the aim of increasing the number of students that can enrol for LSP, at present two different projects are offered for the subject of Ethology (fourth course of Grade in Biology at the University of A Coruña). The first project entails collaboration with the Animal Protection Association Gatocan, and the objective of the service is to promote pet adoption and reduce abandonment through the publication of articles in the electronic journal of the association. The second project involves science dissemination and education of the inhabitants of the Council of Oleiros on the problems associated to an invasive species. Thus, in this communication critical aspects are highlighted for the planning, monitoring and results of LSP projects, as well as other questions derived from potential disequilibria between projects

PT. WOM Finance, Tbk. is one of the companies operating in motorcycle financing. PT. WOM Finance, Tbk. cannot be separated from debtor’s/consumer’s default or the disappearance of motorcycles/security object. It copes with the risk by making a financing agreement consisting of primary agreement and the other supporting agreement such as loan agreement, fiduciary agreement, power of attorney and insurance. The objective of this research is to discover the mechanism of consumer finance, debtor’s liability for default, and legal protection for creditor in case of disappearance of fiduciary security object in which the debtor has defaulted earlier. This is an analytical prescriptive research with normative juridical method. It is conducted by studying references or secondary data including legal norms in the prevailing laws and regulation or documents related to the juridical consequences i.e. disappearance of security object in consumer finance agreement in PT. WOM Finance, Tbk. in order to answer the research problems. The results of the research discover the finance mechanism in PT.WOM Finance, Tbk. in general, the financing starts from an application and ends with the execution of the agreement. The defaults performed by a debtor causes legal consequences for the debtor themselves. In case the fiduciary security object disappears when the debtor has defaulted earlier, the creditor does not only obtain legal protection from the Consumer Finance Agreement, but it also gains the protection from Insurance Agreement

Students have a large amount of information readily available they can use while enrolled in our courses. However, they must have already acquired the necessary information literacy skills to search, evaluate, and use information in a proper and efficient way, mainly concerning Web resources. Despite the fact that students show high technological abilities, the analysis of the way they gather information and the quality of their sources shows that there are still important shortcomings. The present study evaluates the information literacy skills of students enrolled in two Biology subjects at the University of A Coruña. Results confirm that the development of specific activities, even if they might be timecosting for teachers, certainly improve students’ skills. Thus, we present the organization of seminars for small groups of students in the new Grade in Biology that can serve to improve their information literacy skills, as well as to introduce students the process of peer-review

Non-Clinical Factors Determining the Prescription of Antibiotics by Veterinarians: A Systematic Review

    Get PDF
The misuse of antibiotics in humans, animals, and plants is related to the spread of resistant antibiotic strains among humans and animals. In this paper, we carry out a bibliographic search of Medline, Web of Knowledge, and Cab Abstracts with the main objective of ascertaining the available evidence on non-clinical factors and attitudes that could influence the prescription of antibiotics by veterinarians. A total of 34 studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Whereas, veterinary health professionals’ prescribing habits did not appear to be influenced by their socio-demographic characteristics, they were influenced by different attitudes, such as fear (identified in 19 out of 34 studies), self-confidence (19/34), business factors (19/34), and by complacency (16/34). Certain owner-related factors, such as lack of awareness (16/34) and demand for antibiotics (12/34), were also important, as were concurrent factors, ranging from a lack of appropriate regulations (10/34) to the expense and delays involved in performing culture and sensitivity tests (10/34) and inadequate farm hygiene (8/34). Our results appear to indicate that the non-clinical factors are potentially modifiable. This may be useful for designing interventions targeted at improving antibiotic use in animals, as part of an overall strategy to reduce the global spread of multi-resistant strainsS
