Lean six sigma approach for COVID-19 demand growth. A Case Study in a Rio de Janeiro hospital respirator company.
The current economic scenario shows a major recession caused by the crisis in public health due to the proliferation of the new coronavirus. However, companies operating in the hospital segment have high demands and their products are widely used. However, old mistakes in operations management inhibited several production lines and achieving their manufacturing goals due to waste generated in the production processes. This article aims to increase the production capacity by 70% of the production line of surgical tubes in a hospital instrument industry located in the state of Rio de Janeiro. To achieve this objective, a lean six sigma project will be developed, conducted by the DMAIC methodology. From the 36-days analysis of the process, it was possible to reach the main low production problems and precisely find a way to increase production capacity by 55%, making it possible to attend to the new increasing demand from COVID-19 engaged hospitals. Also, due to directed actions, operators could increase their productivity ratio from 89 to145 products per hour by the end of May 2020
Bamboo Cellulose nanocrystals inserted in the composition of cementitious mortars
This research deals with obtaining nanocrystals of cellulose from eucalyptus, which aims to insert and increase the strength of mortar, using nanotechnology for its improvement as an alternative way to reinforce the composition of the material. The methodology used to obtain this is a chemical treatment that must be carried out in two stages. The first is an alkaline treatment using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and the second part, which is where the result is obtained, is acid hydrolysis using sulfuric acid (H2SO4).
Briefly, cellulose, a polymer that is very abundant on the earth, when chemically treated becomes a material that can satisfactorily improve the strength of mortar or any other cementitious material. Its use in the future as a form of improvement, will become of paramount importance in civil construction, because it helps in the improvement of one of the most used materials in the industry in order to think about sustainability.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Application of lean management tools in industry 4.0: a systematic review
The concept of Industry 4.0 is very recent and has not been fully consolidated, and, for this reason, comprehensive implementations by the industrial sector may not be prudent. Studies show that only fundamentals of Industry 4.0 do not guarantee characteristics such as quality, for example, in production processes. Thus, lean production concepts are probably being used together to cover deficiencies in Industry 4.0. In this work, a literature review is proposed that points out where lean production tools are being used in the production processes of Industry 4.0. Using the results of this search, an analysis of the most important lean production tools, which appear in the works, has been made. The analysis has shown what is being used, in terms of the lean tools, in the production processes of Industry 4.0, and what improvements are provided from these tools
Uncommon oral manifestation of lichen sclerosus : critical analysis of cases reported from 1957 to 2016
Lichen sclerosus is a mucocutaneous autoimmune disease which might be initiated by infectious pathogens as Borrelia Bugrdorferi and HPV. This disease shows destructive potential and is rarely diagnosed in oral mucosa. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the characteristics of cases described in literature from 1957 to 2016, looking to provide valuable evidence about clinicopathologic features of this disease. A MedLine search was performed aiming to find oral lichen sclerosus cases in literature and discuss its demographical and pathological characteristics as well as treatment methods performed for these cases. 34 oral lichen sclerosus cases with histological confirmation and one clinicopathologic study linked with this disease were found in literature. Oral lichen sclerosus affected most commonly female patients, were asymptomatic and not associated to skin or genital lesions. Furthermore, affected patients in a range of 7 ? 70-years old (Average age = 31.81). Oral lichen sclerosus is a rare pathologic process with slight predilection for prepubertal girls, for which topical corticosterois have demonstrated satisfactory therapeutic value
A representatividade feminina na política do brasil e os fatores que dificultam sua consolidação: um impasse para a democracia / Female representation in Brazilian politics and the factors that hinder its consolidation: an impasse for democracy
Objective: to map the psychosocial impacts caused by social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic in children, adolescents and young people. Method: a scoping review conducted according to the method proposed by the JBI and adopting the recommendations set forth in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews international guide. The review protocol was registered in the Open Science Framework. Results: a total of 20 articles comprised this review. Depression (70%; n=14) and anxiety (60%; n=16) were the most frequent symptoms among the research studies evaluated. An increase in screen time and in Internet use was identified. Conclusion: social isolation due to COVID-19 has exerted social and psychological effects on children's and adolescents' lives.
