A geometric approach to time evolution operators of Lie quantum systems

Lie systems in Quantum Mechanics are studied from a geometric point of view. In particular, we develop methods to obtain time evolution operators of time-dependent Schrodinger equations of Lie type and we show how these methods explain certain ad hoc methods used in previous papers in order to obtain exact solutions. Finally, several instances of time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian are solved.Comment: Accepted for publication in the International Journal of Theoretical Physic

Athletes include altitude training as a complement to their conventional training to improve performance. The aim of the study was to analyze the effects on anaerobic threshold (AT) produced by an IHT program in triathletes. 18 male trained triathletes were divided into intermittent hypoxic training group (GIHT: n=9; age: 26±6.73 years, height 173.33±5.94 cm, weight: 66.38±5.91 kg) and control group (GC: n=9; age: 29.27±6.84 years, height 174.89±4.59 cm, weight: 71.59±6.81 kg). The IHT program consisted of two 60-min sessions per week at intensities over the AT and atmospheric conditions between 14.5 and 15% FiO2. Before and after the program, cycling performance in a lactate thresholds test was determined. The treatment caused an improvement in the power output and perceived exertion in AT and enhanced cardiac performance in the aerobic threshold and AT.Actividad Física y Deport

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyse gender differences in neuromuscular behaviour of the gastrocnemius and vastus lateralis during the take-off phase of a countermovement jump (CMJ), using direct measures (ground reaction forces, muscle activity and dynamic ultrasound). METHODS: Sixty-four young adults (aged 18-25 years) participated voluntarily in this study, 35 men and 29 women. The firing of the trigger allowed obtainment of data collection vertical ground reaction forces (GRF), surface electromyography activity (sEMG) and dynamic ultrasound gastrocnemius of both legs. RESULTS: Statistically significant gender differences were observed in the jump performance, which appear to be based on differences in muscle architecture and the electrical activation of the gastrocnemius muscles and vastus lateralis. So while men developed greater peak power, velocity take-offs and jump heights, jump kinetics compared to women, women also required a higher electrical activity to develop lower power values. Additionally, the men had higher values pennation angles and muscle thickness than women. CONCLUSION: Men show higher performance of the jump test than women, due to significant statistical differences in the values of muscle architecture (pennation angle and thickness muscle), lower Neural Efficiency Index and a higher amount of sEMG activity per second during the take-off phase of a CMJ.Actividad Física y Deport

Final State Interactions in Hypernuclear Decay

We present an update of the One-Meson-Exchange (OME) results for the weak decay of s- and p-shell hypernuclei (Ref. Phys. Rev. C {\bf 56}, 339 (1997)), paying special attention to the role played by final state interactions between the emitted nucleons. The present study also corrects for a mistake in the inclusion of the KK and KK^* exchange mechanisms, which substantially increases the ratio of neutron-induced to proton-induced transitions, Γn/Γp\Gamma_n/\Gamma_p. With the most up-to-date model ingredients, we find that the OME approach is able to describe very satisfactorily most of the measured observables, including the ratio Γn/Γp\Gamma_n/\Gamma_p.Comment: 20 pages, 2 eps figure

Novel Weak Decays in Doubly Strange Systems

The strangeness-changing (ΔS=1\Delta S = 1) weak baryon-baryon interaction is studied through the nonmesonic weak decay of double-Λ\Lambda hypernuclei. Besides the usual nucleon-induced decay ΛNNN\Lambda N \to N N we discuss novel hyperon-induced decay modes ΛΛΛN\Lambda \Lambda \to \Lambda N and ΛΛΣN\Lambda \Lambda \to \Sigma N. These reactions provide unique access to the exotic ΛΛ\Lambda \LambdaK and ΛΣ\Lambda \SigmaK vertices which place new constraints on Chiral Pertubation Theory (χ\chiPT) in the weak SU(3) sector. Within a meson-exchange framework, we use the pseudoscalar π,η,K\pi,\eta,K octet for the long-range part while parametrizing the short-range part through the vector mesons ρ,ω,K\rho, \omega, K^*. Realistic baryon-baryon forces for the S=0,1S=0,-1 and -2 sectors account for the strong interaction in the initial and final states. For ΛΛ6^6_{\Lambda \Lambda}He the new hyperon-induced decay modes account for up to 4% of the total nonmesonic decay rate. Predictions are made for all possible nonmesonic decay modes.Comment: 19 pages, 2 ps figures, 9 table
