Susceptibility of red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) populations from Serbia to contact insecticides
Contact insecticides remain the principal option for controlling stored-product insects. Unsatisfactory results of insecticide applications are caused by several factors, one of the most important being resistance of stored-product insects. The objective of this study was to examine the susceptibility in several populations of red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) from Serbia to different contact insecticides. Toxicity of the insecticides dichlorvos, malathion, chlorpyrifos-methyl, pirimiphos-methyl, deltamethrin and bifenthrin to adults of a laboratory population of T. castaneum was investigated in the laboratory by topical application. At the LD50, deltamethrin was the most toxic and malathion the least toxic of the insecticides. Discriminating dose data for the laboratory population were used to test the susceptibility of 10 other populations originating from different storage facilities (silos, warehouses and flour mills) in Serbia. The discriminating dose of malathion caused mortality of up to 85% in seven populations, indicating malathion resistance in those populations. For two populations of T. castaneum from Nikinci and Jakovo LD values, ld-p lines and levels of susceptibility/resistance (RRs) were determined. The most toxic insecticide for adults from Nikinci and Jakovo was deltamethrin, while malathion was least toxic. The resistance ratios (RRs) for malathion at the LD50 were 17.6 for beetles from Nikinci, and 26.0 for beetles from Jakovo. Influence of dietary mannanoligosaccharides on histological parameters of the jejunal mucosa and growth performance of broiler chickens
The trial involved 480 Hubbard Classic broiler chicks which were from either mannanoligosaccharide (MOS) fed breeder flock (Bio-Mos, Alltech Inc. USA at level of 1 kg/t) or control fed breeder flock (without MOS). Three groups with four replicates per treatment were formed: control fed breeders/control fed broilers (C/C); MOS fed breeders/control fed broilers (BM/C) and MOS fed breeders/MOS fed broilers (BM/BM). All chicks were fed the same basal diet, except for the inclusion of Bio-Mos (1, 0.75 and 0.5 kg/t in the starter, grower and finisher diet, respectively). The results showed a significant improvement (p<0.05) in the body weight gain with the addition of Bio-Mos in broiler feed. Feed conversion ratio was improved by 0.03 points, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05). The gut morphology examination showed that chick origin (chicks that originated from Bio-Mos fed breeders or control fed breeders) did not influence the morphological parameters of the jejunum in the broiler chickens, but addition of Bio-Mos directly to the broiler feed had a significant influence on the gut morphology and played an important role in processes of digestion and absorption, leading to improved performance.Key words: Broiler, mannanoligosaccharides, growth, jejunum, histology
Characterisation of AMS H35 HV-CMOS monolithic active pixel sensor prototypes for HEP applications
Monolithic active pixel sensors produced in High Voltage CMOS (HV-CMOS)
technology are being considered for High Energy Physics applications due to the
ease of production and the reduced costs. Such technology is especially
appealing when large areas to be covered and material budget are concerned.
This is the case of the outermost pixel layers of the future ATLAS tracking
detector for the HL-LHC. For experiments at hadron colliders, radiation
hardness is a key requirement which is not fulfilled by standard CMOS sensor
designs that collect charge by diffusion. This issue has been addressed by
depleted active pixel sensors in which electronics are embedded into a large
deep implantation ensuring uniform charge collection by drift. Very first small
prototypes of hybrid depleted active pixel sensors have already shown a
radiation hardness compatible with the ATLAS requirements. Nevertheless, to
compete with the present hybrid solutions a further reduction in costs
achievable by a fully monolithic design is desirable. The H35DEMO is a large
electrode full reticle demonstrator chip produced in AMS 350 nm HV-CMOS
technology by the collaboration of Karlsruher Institut f\"ur Technologie (KIT),
Institut de F\'isica d'Altes Energies (IFAE), University of Liverpool and
University of Geneva. It includes two large monolithic pixel matrices which can
be operated standalone. One of these two matrices has been characterised at
beam test before and after irradiation with protons and neutrons. Results
demonstrated the feasibility of producing radiation hard large area fully
monolithic pixel sensors in HV-CMOS technology. H35DEMO chips with a substrate
resistivity of 200 cm irradiated with neutrons showed a radiation
hardness up to a fluence of ncm with a hit efficiency of
about 99% and a noise occupancy lower than hits in a LHC bunch

Research Proposal for an Experiment to Search for the Decay {\mu} -> eee
We propose an experiment (Mu3e) to search for the lepton flavour violating
decay mu+ -> e+e-e+. We aim for an ultimate sensitivity of one in 10^16
mu-decays, four orders of magnitude better than previous searches. This
sensitivity is made possible by exploiting modern silicon pixel detectors
providing high spatial resolution and hodoscopes using scintillating fibres and
tiles providing precise timing information at high particle rates.Comment: Research proposal submitted to the Paul Scherrer Institute Research

Novel high-speed monolithic silicon detector for particle physics
This contribution presents simulation results, implementation, and first tests of a monolithic detector developed at KIT. It consists of a sensor diode tightly integrated with an analogue front-end based on SiGe (Silicon-Germanium) SG13G2 130 nm BiCMOS technology produced at the Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics (IHP). The pixel size is 100 μm × 100 μm, and the nwell charge collection node dimensions were reduced to 10 μm × 10 μm. We investigate the influence of this approach on sensor performance, spatial resolution via charge sharing and timing behaviour
Optimizacija procesa ekstrakcije antocijana iz semenjače crne soje za pripremu funkcionalne hrane od kukuruza
Black soybean seed coat has a considerable content of anthocyanins which can providea positive effect on the health of the consumers through food products enriched with the extracts of these valuable bioactive compounds. Nevertheless, the use of soybean seed coat, a by-product from soybean processing, additionally valorizes this raw material. The possibility of enrichment of sweet maize grains with anthocyanin extract was investigated. Several procedures with acetic acid were applied in the experiments of anthocyanins extraction from black soybean seed coat. During the marination process, the grains were stained, changing their standard yellow color to a crimson red. Since the brines with the addition of citric acid became cloudy (opalescent) after some time, lactic acid was used as an anthocyanin stabilizer in the continuation of the research. Depending on the extraction conditions, the spectrophotometrically determined content of total anthocyanins in the solution varied from 3541.90 to 5387.70 μg CGE/g d.m., and in the marinated maize grain between 179.89 and 286.05 μg CGE/g d.m. After seven days, the total anthocyanin content in the grain did not increase significantly, so this aging period was selected as optimal for marinating maize products.
