The physics of dipolar bosonic quantum gases
This article reviews the recent theoretical and experimental advances in the
study of ultracold gases made of bosonic particles interacting via the
long-range, anisotropic dipole-dipole interaction, in addition to the
short-range and isotropic contact interaction usually at work in ultracold
gases. The specific properties emerging from the dipolar interaction are
emphasized, from the mean-field regime valid for dilute Bose-Einstein
condensates, to the strongly correlated regimes reached for dipolar bosons in

Three loop MSbar renormalization of QED in the 't~Hooft-Veltman gauge
Quantum electrodynamics (QED) fixed in the 't~Hooft-Veltman gauge is
renormalized to three loops in the MSbar scheme. The beta-functions and
anomalous dimensions are computed as functions of the usual QED coupling and
the additional coupling, xi, which is introduced as part of the nonlinear gauge
fixing condition. Similar to the maximal abelian gauge of quantum
chromodynamics, the renormalization of the gauge parameter is singular.Comment: 8 latex page
Magnetic fields in noncommutative quantum mechanics
We discuss various descriptions of a quantum particle on noncommutative space
in a (possibly non-constant) magnetic field. We have tried to present the basic
facts in a unified and synthetic manner, and to clarify the relationship

This is a translation from German of an article originally published inProceedings of the Mathematical-Natural Science Section of the Mainz Academy of Science and Literature, Nr. 11, 1961 (pp. 792â837) (printed by Franz Steiner and Co, Wiesbaden), which is Paper IV in the series ldquoExact Solutions of the Field Equations of General Relativity Theoryrdquo by Pascual Jordan, JĂŒrgen Ehlers, Wolfgang Kundt and Rainer K. Sachs. The translation has been carried out by G. F. R. Ellis (Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Cape Town), assisted by P. K. S. Dunsby, so that this outstanding review paper can be readily accessible to workers in the field today. As far as possible, the translation has preserved both the spirit and the form of the original paper. Despite its age, it remains one of the best reviews available in this area
Enantiocontrol in the intermolecular cyclopropanation reaction catalyzed by dirhodium(II) complexes with ortho-metalated aryl phosphine ligands

Moduli Spaces and Formal Operads
Let overline{M}_{g,n} be the moduli space of stable algebraic curves of genus
g with n marked points. With the operations which relate the different moduli
spaces identifying marked points, the family (overline{M}_{g,n})_{g,n} is a
modular operad of projective smooth Deligne-Mumford stacks, overline{M}. In
this paper we prove that the modular operad of singular chains
C_*(overline{M};Q) is formal; so it is weakly equivalent to the modular operad
of its homology H_*(overline{M};Q). As a consequence, the "up to homotopy"
algebras of these two operads are the same. To obtain this result we prove a
formality theorem for operads analogous to Deligne-Griffiths-Morgan-Sullivan
formality theorem, the existence of minimal models of modular operads, and a
characterization of formality for operads which shows that formality is

Transcriptional regulation os phenylalaline biosynthesis and utilization
Conifer trees divert large quantities of carbon into the biosynthesis of phenylpropanoids, particularly to generate lignin, an important constituent of wood. Since phenylalanine is the precursor for phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, the precise regulation of phenylalanine synthesis and utilization should occur simultaneously. This crucial pathway is finely regulated primarily at the transcriptional level. Transcriptome analyses indicate that the transcription factors (TFs) preferentially expressed during wood formation in plants belong to the MYB and NAC families. Craven-Bartle et al. (2013) have shown in conifers that Myb8 is a candidate regulator of key genes in phenylalanine biosynthesis involved in the supply of the phenylpropane carbon skeleton necessary for lignin biosynthesis. This TF is able to bind AC elements present in the promoter regions of these genes to activate transcription. Constitutive overexpression of Myb8 in white spruce increased secondary-wall thickening and led to ectopic lignin deposition (Bomal et al. 2008). In Arabidopsis, the transcriptional network controlling secondary cell wall involves NAC-domain regulators operating upstream Myb transcription factors. Functional orthologues of members of this network described have been identified in poplar and eucalyptus, but in conifers functional evidence had only been obtained for MYBs. We have identified in the P. pinaster genome 37 genes encoding NAC proteins, which 3 NAC proteins could be potential candidates to be involved in vascular development (Pascual et al. 2015). The understanding of the transcriptional regulatory network associated to phenylpropanoids and lignin biosynthesis in conifers is crucial for future applications in tree improvement and sustainable forest management.

A Cartan-Eilenberg approach to Homotopical Algebra
In this paper we propose an approach to homotopical algebra where the basic
ingredient is a category with two classes of distinguished morphisms: strong
and weak equivalences. These data determine the cofibrant objects by an
extension property analogous to the classical lifting property of projective
modules. We define a Cartan-Eilenberg category as a category with strong and
weak equivalences such that there is an equivalence between its localization
with respect to weak equivalences and the localised category of cofibrant
objets with respect to strong equivalences. This equivalence allows us to
extend the classical theory of derived additive functors to this non additive
setting. The main examples include Quillen model categories and functor
categories with a triple, in the last case we find examples in which the class
of strong equivalences is not determined by a homotopy relation. Among other
applications, we prove the existence of filtered minimal models for \emph{cdg}
algebras over a zero-characteristic field and we formulate an acyclic models
theorem for non additive functors
